Chapter Index

    Morning.

After finishing breakfast, Xu Shaochen, as planned, took the two sisters, Liu Rushuang and Liu Ruxu, to the hospital.

At the hospital’s entrance, Dean Fu, the head of the hospital, was personally waiting to greet them.

Soon, Xu Shaochen’s Car pulled up at the entrance.

“Mr. Xu, everything’s already been arranged. May I ask which of the young ladies is here for the prenatal exam? We can head straight there now.”

Dean Fu swiftly came over and warmly greeted Xu Shaochen, his gaze lingering on Liu Rushuang and Liu Ruxu.

Since it was still early and under three months, it wasn’t yet visible that the sisters were pregnant.

“Both of them need a check-up.”

    Xu Shaochen calmly replied.

    …………

Dean Fu was stunned, his eyes wide in disbelief. After a long pause, he managed to force out a sentence: “Mr. Xu, the more children you have, the better… the more children, the better.”

“Ahem, ahem, alright, let’s head inside.” Xu Shaochen coughed a couple of times to mask his embarrassment.

Bringing both sisters for a prenatal exam—especially when both were carrying his children—it was a little awkward, even for someone as thick-skinned as him.

“Yes, yes, of course, Mr. Xu. Please follow me, young miss.”

Realizing what was happening, Dean Fu quickly took the lead to show the way.

    “Dean Fu!”

At this moment, a red BMW pulled up, and a dignified woman got out.

“Madam Zhao, what brings you here? I thought your appointment was for the day after tomorrow.”

Seeing the woman, Dean Fu shot Xu Shaochen an apologetic smile, then quickly walked over to her, treating her with utmost politeness.

“I have something on that day, so I’ve come today instead. Arrange it for me quickly, I have a Mahjong game to catch later.”

Madam Zhao patted her abdomen while speaking to Dean Fu in a commanding tone, showing traces of impatience.

“Well…” Dean Fu felt a dilemma creep up. After all, Xu Shaochen had already booked today first, and there was no way he could let Madam Zhao cut in line.

Seeing his hesitation, Madam Zhao frowned in annoyance, “What? You’re the dean, and you can’t handle this?”

“It’s not that, Madam Zhao. Mr. Xu has already scheduled today. How about you come back later in the afternoon?”

Dean Fu pointed toward Xu Shaochen and gave Madam Zhao a strained smile.

Madam Zhao glanced towards Xu Shaochen and then showed a displeased expression, “Then give me the check-up first. They can wait until the afternoon.”

“This… Madam Zhao, perhaps you should discuss this directly with Mr. Xu.”

Dean Fu gave a bitter smile. What could he do? Both sides were tough to deal with.

Seeing him like this, Madam Zhao raised an eyebrow and asked, “Who is he?”

Her question was clearly about Xu Shaochen.

If Dean Fu saw this man as difficult to handle, then Xu Shaochen was clearly not a common person. Before acting, she wanted to find out who exactly he was.

“Mr. Xu is also a businessman, just like your husband,” Dean Fu replied.

On hearing this, Madam Zhao immediately dismissed Xu Shaochen, because given her husband’s standing, she wasn’t scared of any ordinary businessman.

Having made up her mind, Madam Zhao walked towards Xu Shaochen in an arrogant stride, “Sir, I have an urgent matter. How about you let me go first for my exam, and you can come in the afternoon?”

Though her words were framed politely as a question, they were laced with condescension.

“Hehe, Madam, your urgent matter is just a Mahjong game, right? If that’s the case, I’m afraid I can’t agree.”

Xu Shaochen replied indifferently, having overheard the entire conversation between her and Dean Fu.

If it had truly been something urgent, Xu Shaochen wouldn’t mind letting her go first.

But if the so-called emergency was just some Mahjong game, why should he give way?

Moreover, her arrogant demeanor had irked him. You’re asking someone for a favor, and yet you can’t even show a little courtesy?

After being refused, Madam Zhao’s face darkened. She coldly asked, “I heard you’re a businessman. Do you know who my husband is?”

“What does your husband have to do with me? Whoever he is, as long as he’s not me.” Xu Shaochen chuckled.

“You…” The woman, now enraged, turned back to Dean Fu, “You! Tell him who my husband is!”

Dean Fu was drenched in cold sweat. Yes, her husband was a big shot, and most businessmen would give him some face.

But the man in front of him was no ordinary businessman!

Her husband had some influence, sure, but not enough to stand a chance against this man.

Even though Dean Fu was silently complaining in his heart, he couldn’t let it show on his face. He stepped forward and said to Xu Shaochen, “Mr. Xu, Madam Zhao’s husband is the President of the Jiangzhou Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Liu Jun.”

Upon hearing this, Xu Shaochen suddenly understood. No wonder this woman became haughty once she learned he was a businessman.

But he found it amusing—this Chamber of Commerce President had only risen to his position after offending him and being left in disgrace.

In other words, her husband owed his position to Xu Shaochen’s mercy.

Xu Shaochen smiled mockingly at Madam Zhao, “Your husband’s quite something.”

“Hmph! What’s the matter? Are you scared now? Let me tell you, no one ever dares talk to me like that. So be smart and apologize before it’s too late! Or you’ll regret it!”

Assuming that Xu Shaochen had been intimidated, Madam Zhao had a smug look on her face and spoke haughtily.

“Apologize? Heh. I suggest you give your husband a call and ask him how he even became your Chamber of Commerce President.”

Xu Shaochen sneered, then turned to Dean Fu, “Let’s go, Dean Fu. Trying to please everyone will only mean you end up failing both sides. You need to prioritize better.”

“Yes, Mr. Xu, this way please.” Hearing the subtle reprimand from Xu Shaochen, Dean Fu broke out in a cold sweat, quickly giving him a fawning smile.

He no longer cared at all about Madam Zhao. He immediately escorted Xu Shaochen and the sisters into the hospital.

Seeing this, Madam Zhao was furious, nearly fuming as she rushed in front to block their path, “Dean Fu! Do you still want to keep your position as dean!”

“You sure love showing off your power, Madam Zhao. Maybe you should get your facts straight. Your husband is merely the Chamber of Commerce President, not the Mayor of Jiangzhou City!” Liu Ruxu stared at her coldly.

    “Smack!”

Madam Zhao raised her hand and slapped Liu Ruxu across the face, shouting venomously, “Shut up, you little wench. Who do you think you are? You think it’s your place to speak?”

    “Smack!”

Xu Shaochen’s face darkened as he immediately slapped Madam Zhao in return, his voice icy, “Consider yourself lucky that you’re pregnant, or I wouldn’t have let this slide. But who gave you the guts to lay a hand on my woman?!”
