Chapter Index

    Mei Liangxin’s home.

The once spacious living room felt crowded now with four bodyguards in suits. There were nine people in the room total.

A middle-aged couple sat expressionless on the sofa, and beside them was a twenty-something young man with a rebellious look.

“Dad, Mom, why are you so determined to stop me from being with Liangxin? Why can’t you give him a chance?”

Liu Ying looked at her parents, pleading miserably, as if she would cry at any moment.

Before her parents could speak, the young man scoffed, “Give him a chance? Sure, he’s got a little money, but even if you gave him ten chances, he wouldn’t reach the status of the Liu Family. He’s not worthy of you. Come on, little sis, stop being so stubborn!”

“Liu Hong!” Liu Ying shouted, fuming at the young man as she spat out angrily, “What kind of person is worthy of me, then? Is it those so-called noble sons you’ve found for me, ones from even richer families than ours?”

    “Watch your mouth!”

Liu Zhiwei slammed his palm on the table, glaring at Liu Ying as he scolded her harshly, “Is that how you talk to your brother? Just a few days away from home and you’ve forgotten all your manners!”

“Dad…” Liu Ying looked anxious, wanting to explain.

However, Liu Zhiwei cut her off coldly, “No need to say more. You’re coming home with us today. Your brother’s right—he’s not good enough for you!”

“Uncle, I know you don’t think much of me, but I swear, if you give me a chance, I will become the perfect son-in-law you wish for.”

After finishing his Phone call with Xu Shaochen, Mei Liangxin emerged from the bathroom, looking earnestly at Liu Zhiwei.

With a net worth of over a billion, being looked down on as if he were a beggar, Mei Liangxin truly felt wronged by the situation.

    “Slap!”

Liu Ying’s mother walked up and slapped Mei Liangxin hard across the face.

“Mom, what are you doing?!” Liu Ying was shocked, rushing forward to protect Mei Liangxin.

Liu Ying’s mother pointed at him and scorned, “If it weren’t for you, how would my Yingying have ended up like this? Do you really think you’re fit to be my son-in-law? Look at yourself! Get a grip and stop dreaming of climbing the social ladder by taking advantage of our family’s wealth!”

    “Auntie…”

“Don’t call me Auntie! You’re not worthy of that either!”

At this, Mei Liangxin sighed helplessly and changed his tone. “Alright, ma’am… Even though I don’t have as much money as your family, I’m not lacking, either. I genuinely don’t care about your wealth. I just love Yingying.”

“Hahaha! What a joke! Who do you think you are? You aren’t worthy of talking about love with my sister. Let me tell you—you’re delusional! I know exactly what you’re after—money and… something else.”

Liu Hong laughed loudly and walked up to Mei Liangxin, poking his chest with a mocking grin.

Mei Liangxin suppressed his anger and stared coldly at him. “Don’t assume everyone is as despicable as you.”

    “What did you just say?!”

Liu Hong’s face darkened, and he kicked Mei Liangxin violently.

    “Ah!”

Mei Liangxin cried out in pain as he was knocked to the ground.

    “Brother! What are you doing?”

Liu Ying, her eyes red with anger, screamed hysterically at Liu Hong, then rushed to help Mei Liangxin, her face full of worry and remorse. “Liangxin… Are you okay? This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have brought you to Jiangzhou. I’ve ruined everything. Boohoo…”

“It’s… it’s fine. I refuse… to believe… I, Mei Liangxin, cannot even protect my own girlfriend. I’d… end up as a laughingstock to… to Xu Shaochen.”

Mei Liangxin, his face pale, spoke intermittently. Liu Hong’s kick had knocked the wind out of him.

Seeing his pale face, Liu Ying felt unbearable heartache. A look of determination flashed in her eyes as she turned to Liu Zhiwei and shouted, “Dad, I’m not going home with you! If you push me, I’ll end my life right here!”

As soon as she finished speaking, she ran towards the balcony.

    “Yingying! Stop!”

Mei Liangxin’s face turned pale with horror.

    “Yingying! Quick! Stop her!”

Even Liu Zhiwei and the others were startled. They panicked and shouted at the bodyguards to stop her.

Thankfully, one of the bodyguards reacted quickly. Even before Liu Zhiwei gave the order, he rushed over and dragged Liu Ying back.

“Let go of me! Let me go!”

Liu Ying struggled desperately, crying and screaming, her emotions completely out of control.

All of them—Liu Zhiwei, his wife, Liu Hong, and Mei Liangxin—breathed a sigh of relief.

    “Bang!”

Liu Zhiwei, his face dark, strode towards Mei Liangxin and kicked him while saying coldly, “Because of you, my only daughter nearly just died. You’re nothing but bad news.”

“Someone, break this man’s legs! And take my daughter down to the Car!”

As he spoke, a bodyguard escorted Liu Ying out, while two others restrained Mei Liangxin.

“No, Dad! Please don’t! Don’t hurt him! I’ll go back with you, just don’t hurt him!”

Liu Ying cried in heartbreak, but Liu Zhiwei remained unfazed, pushing the bodyguards to act. “Hurry up and do it!”

He was determined to cripple Mei Liangxin—not only to teach him a lesson, but also to erase Liu Ying’s feelings for him. He didn’t believe she could still love a man with broken legs.

    “Stop!”

“Stop!” Liu Ying was devastated, but there was nothing she could do. The bodyguards had already dragged her outside.

As Liu Ying was pulled away, Liu Hong, now unrestrained, smirked at the bodyguards. “Hold him down. I’ll personally break his legs!”

“I swear, even in death, I won’t let you off!” Mei Liangxin, pinned to the ground by the bodyguards, clenched his teeth and roared at Liu Hong.

Liu Hong sneered, “You couldn’t deal with me while you’re alive. What could you possibly do when you’re dead?”

    “Bang!”

    “Ahh!”

Just then, with a loud crash and a scream, the bodyguard who had been dragging Liu Ying flew backward and crashed into the table, coughing up blood.

The sudden scene shocked everyone, including Liu Zhiwei.

    “Liangxin! Liangxin!”

Immediately after, Liu Ying rushed back in, pushing past the bodyguards and holding Mei Liangxin tightly, tears flowing uncontrollably.

    “It’s okay now. It’s okay.”

Mei Liangxin exhaled in relief. He knew Xu Shaochen had arrived.

    “Click-click-click…”

Following a series of hurried footsteps, Long Yi entered, leading a dozen bodyguards who quickly surrounded the room.

    “Who the hell are you?!”

Liu Zhiwei’s face darkened as he glared at Long Yi, showing no sign of panic.

“I’m the Matchmaker, here to tie a red string for my brother. Do you mind?”

A calm voice echoed through the room as Xu Shaochen entered, his face expressionless.
