Chapter Index

    “How dare you!!!”

Ma Cheng’s eyes looked like they were about to burst as he glared.

    “Bang!”

As soon as his words dropped, a gunshot rang out, and a burst of blood erupted from his right knee.

    “Aaaah!”

The sharp pain unleashed all the strength in Ma Cheng’s body. He broke free from the bodyguards holding him, clutching his bleeding leg, howling and rolling on the floor.

Everyone in the hallway watched in shock and fear.

The two men and one woman standing beside Zhang Wei, three injured lawyers, were dumbfounded, staring blankly at Xu Shaochen.

    Before they came here,

Zhang Wei had mentioned he had some powerful friends in Jiangzhou.

They didn’t really feel it at the time.

But now, they finally understood just how powerful ‘powerful’ meant.

To shoot someone in public—these were legal elites. Of course, they knew such an action was a huge deal.

But they understood one more thing: Xu Shaochen wouldn’t have fired unless he knew he could handle it.

That was enough to show how much clout Xu Shaochen had.

Ma Cheng’s other three companions were already trembling in fear. One of them was so scared that they wet themselves.

“You handle the other three. They aren’t even worth me pulling the trigger.”

Xu Shaochen tossed the gun to Long Yi and casually pulled a handkerchief from his suit pocket to clean his hands.

“No! No, please Big Brother, I beg you, let us go!”

“Please! No matter how much money you want or whatever you need us to do, just let us go!”

The three of them immediately cried out, their voices hoarse as they begged, none of that earlier arrogance and threats remained.

They now understood that Xu Shaochen really dared to shoot.

If he dared to break the leg of Ma Family’s Third Young Master, would he even care about three nobodies? Xu Shaochen, however, acted as though he didn’t hear their pleas, his face remaining cold and aloof.

    “Bang! Bang! Bang!”

In the end, three gunshots broke through the crying, replaced instantly by wails of agony.

    “Aaaah!”

The hallway was filled with their painful screams, each louder than the last.

“Can you talk to me properly now?”

Xu Shaochen stood over Ma Cheng, asking in a calm, indifferent tone.

A flicker of hatred flashed deep in Ma Cheng’s eyes, quickly concealed as he nodded in fear.

He swore to himself that he would get revenge on Xu Shaochen, but for now, he dared not show even a hint of that emotion.

“What did those three lawyers do to offend you, Ma Third Young Master, that you had them beaten so badly?”

    Xu Shaochen asked.

Ma Cheng averted his gaze, not daring to speak, clearly feeling guilty.

“I went to the restroom. When I came out, he suddenly grabbed me and dragged me inside. He tried to assault me. I kneed him in the stomach and managed to escape.”

“I thought that was the end of it, and I didn’t even plan to call the Police. But he stormed into our private room and dragged all three of us out, beating us from there into the hallway!”

The female lawyer, her face bloodied, gritted her teeth as she recounted what had happened.

The others looked at Ma Cheng with eyes filled with contempt after hearing her.

If you want a woman, can’t you just find one some other way?

    Why resort to using force?

Such people, whether outside or even in prison, are the ones others look down on the most.

“You really are just a maggot!”

Xu Shaochen glanced at Ma Cheng as he said this, then turned to Zhang Wei and said, “Didn’t he just kick you? Kick him twice back. After all, we people of Longguo always stress reciprocation.”

“No… No Big Brother! Didn’t you say you’re friends with my Second Brother? For the sake of him, can’t you… can’t you let me go?”

Ma Di’s face turned pale when he heard this, trembling as he pleaded to Xu Shaochen.

He had no idea where Zhang Wei might kick him. If it hit his groin, he’d have no hope of having children for the rest of his life.

Xu Shaochen chuckled, “Ma Third Young Master, your memory isn’t that good, huh? Didn’t you just say it yourself? Your Second Brother is your Second Brother, and you are you. What does that have to do with me being friends with him?”

“I…” Ma Cheng’s face stiffened. Was this not a case of digging his own grave?

    “Aah!”

Suddenly, Ma Cheng let out a scream, falling to the ground after having been seated.

Zhang Wei’s first kick landed squarely on his head, exactly as Ma Cheng had done to him earlier.

The second kick followed, striking Ma Cheng right in the face.

Blood immediately gushed from Ma Cheng’s nose, covering his entire face in a terrifying scene.

Xu Shaochen glanced over at Sun Shang.

Sun Shang shivered slightly, instinctively blurting out, “I didn’t join in on the beating.”

Indeed, Sun Shang hadn’t assisted in beating the lawyers earlier. He even tried to stop it, though it didn’t work.

“Kid, don’t spend time with losers like him, or else, you’ll become just like him one day.”

Xu Shaochen looked at Sun Shang and said flatly.

Sun Shang nodded eagerly, his head bobbing like a pecking chicken. He looked obedient and scared.

He had no choice. He’d seen the consequences of disobedience.

Xu Shaochen took out his Phone and dialed Ma Di’s number.

“Mr. Xu, what made you suddenly call me?”

After a few busy tones, Ma Di’s somewhat awkward pronunciation finally came through on the other end.

    “Do you know Ma Cheng?”

    Xu Shaochen asked.

    “My Third Brother.”

    Ma Di answered without hesitation.

“I just broke one of his legs. Is that alright?”

    Xu Shaochen asked again.

“…” Silence held the line for a moment before Ma Di responded, “He’s pretty close with our eldest brother. Plus, he holds grudges. He won’t let this go easily.”

“Can you handle this? I really hate these small, annoying matters. Even these trivial issues waste my time.”

Although it was phrased as a question, Xu Shaochen’s voice gave no room for doubt. Rather than asking Ma Di, it felt more like a command—this was your problem to fix.

    “I can.”

Ma Di quickly caught on to Xu Shaochen’s tone and responded without hesitation.

“Alright then, let’s leave it at that.”

With that, Xu Shaochen hung up the Phone and turned to Ma Cheng:

“Just spoke to your Second Brother. He said he’ll handle everything. You won’t be causing me any trouble again—or else, if he can’t settle it, I’ll take care of it myself.”

“Honestly, I really don’t like you. Tonight, I just wanted to have a nice meal with my friends, but you had to ruin it. Don’t you think you’re asking for it?”

Hearing this, Ma Cheng’s eyes flickered, but he didn’t say a word.

“Zhang Wei, take the three lawyers to the hospital.”

Xu Shaochen glanced at Zhang Wei and spoke.

With his words said, Xu Shaochen turned to leave.

Behind him, Ma Cheng’s eyes were filled with hatred, his fists clenched tight, his nails digging into the palms of his hands.

He swore he would make Xu Shaochen pay for what he had done. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be a man.
