Chapter Index

“Sun Shang, take me to the hospital.”

Ma Cheng gritted his teeth through the pain in his leg and commanded Sun Shang.

“Uh, Young Master Ma, my dad set a rule for me. I have to be home before 10 PM, so I’ll be heading out now.”

Sun Shang glanced at his non-existent watch, threw out a casual remark to Ma Cheng, and turned to leave.

Initially, he had thought that befriending Ma Cheng, the third young master of the Ma Family, would be beneficial to him in the future.

After all, people at their level of wealth cultivated connections as their main asset.

But tonight, he had finally seen Ma Cheng’s true character.

This kind of useless fool—how could he ever expect any help from him? Probably just end up cleaning up his messes.

So, the farther he stayed from Ma Cheng, the better.

    “Sun Shang! You bastard!”

Ma Cheng’s face turned black like the bottom of a pot.

He never expected Sun Shang would just leave like that. In his heart, he added Sun Shang to his list of enemies.

One day, he would settle today’s score.

The others in the hallway quickly dispersed as well—not a single person offered any help or even bothered to call 911.

In the end, the third young master had no choice but to rescue himself, dialing the emergency number with his own Phone.

    ……………

Zhang Wei took the three lawyers to the hospital, and Mei Liangxin and Zhao Qing followed.

The gathering of Xu Shaochen’s group of four for tonight came to an abrupt end.

“Boss, Deng Tianquan insists on seeing you.”

Long Yi said to Xu Shaochen.

“He insists, so what? Who does he think he is? Tell him I’m busy.”

Xu Shaochen said, showing no courtesy. He didn’t take Deng Tianquan seriously at all.

In fact, he didn’t care about the Deng Family in the Northwest either.

In his opinion, the Dengs had been stuck in the antiquated ways of the Northwest for far too long.

Did they really think they still had the same influence as back then? Absolutely absurd.

Deng Tianquan had his hand crippled by him. Once he returned, Deng Zhaoxiong would definitely be furious.

If Deng Tianquan was smart, he’d swallow his pride and deal with it.

If he wasn’t, then Xu Shaochen would happily help him swallow it along with his broken teeth.

By the time Xu Shaochen returned home, it was already 10:30 PM.

The two pregnant women, Liu Rushuang and Liu Ruxu, had already gone to bed.

For the sake of their unborn babies, both women had gone from being night owls to following a regular sleep schedule.

Du Ruyan, Linda, Xie Wei, Song Xinran, Zhou Sixian, Zhao Qingyu, and Mei Liangying were all sitting on the sofa, each engrossed in their Phones, quietly minding their own business.

These days, people really can’t live without their Phones.

You can skip a meal, you can skip water, but try going a day without your Phone, and only the strongest wills will survive.

“You’re back? Didn’t you all go for dinner? Why are you back so early?”

Zhou Sixian asked curiously, putting aside her Phone and quickly walking over to help Xu Shaochen, even bending down to change his shoes.

“Sixian, why are you spoiling him like that? You’re really treating him like an emperor, huh?”

Song Xinran, seeing this scene, commented with a hint of annoyance.

Xu Shaochen raised an eyebrow. “Sister Xinran, that’s not right. Just because you don’t do it doesn’t mean others shouldn’t. Look at you—you’re already in your twenties, yet still not as thoughtful as Sixian.”

“Pfft! Your idea of ’thoughtfulness’ is what, treating you like some grand lord? Only Sixian would let you take advantage of her.” Song Xinran rolled her eyes, clearly unimpressed.

Xu Shaochen snickered and looked at Zhou Sixian. “Ignore her. She’s just jealous! Jealous that you stole her chance to shine. After all, not everyone gets the chance to change shoes for dashing gentlemen like me.”

“Ugh, that’s so gross I could puke.” Song Xinran made a dramatic gagging motion.

“Sister Xinran, your lips look really nice.”

    Xu Shaochen suddenly complimented.

Feeling pleased, Song Xinran smirked triumphantly. “You like them? It’s my new lipstick—cost me a few thousand.”

“They do look great. I just wonder how well they work. It’s been a while since I got to test them. Sister Xinran, care to let me try?”

Xu Shaochen grinned mischievously, clearly intending something beyond the innocent compliment.

    “Get lost!”

Song Xinran’s face flushed red. She spat back, “You’re shameless!”

“If I actually left when you told me to, I’d lose face, wouldn’t I?”

As soon as Xu Shaochen finished speaking, he took off his jacket and, like a hungry wolf, jumped into the group of women.

“I’m going to fight all ten of you!”

    “Ah!”

The living room instantly erupted in chaos, filled with screams and laughter.

    ……………

    Meanwhile.

In an apartment somewhere in Jiangzhou.

The living room remained pitch black, the lights off.

The only thing visible was the glow of a cigarette butt occasionally flaring in the darkness.

    “Hoo…”

The figure on the sofa exhaled a cloud of smoke, a vicious smile curling at the edge of his lips.

“Xu Shaochen, oh Xu Shaochen… You’ve received the coffin. I just hope you move in early, before the auspicious date passes.”

He paused for a moment, then swiped his Phone, unlocking the screen.

As the Phone lit up, it illuminated his face.

If Xu Shaochen had been there, he would have recognized him instantly.

    This man was Zhou Yun.

After escaping to Hong Kong, failing in his plot against Xu Shaochen, and fleeing to another country, he was now back.

“It’s about time. You tore the Zhou Family apart and even slept with my ex-wife. Tonight, I’ll start with the people around you.”

“Xu Shaochen, I will make sure that you die with nowhere to be buried!”

Zhou Yun gritted his teeth, his hatred seething. This time, he had returned from abroad with only one goal: to kill Xu Shaochen.

The reason? Word had reached him that Xu Shaochen had slept with Lin Wanxue.

Even though she was now his ex-wife, to Zhou Yun, she was still his woman. For him, it was as if Xu Shaochen had placed a glaring green hat on his head.

One grudge after another piled up, and it festered in his mind, like a volcano ready to erupt. The only thing driving him now was revenge.

He had spent all of his money to hire a group of mercenaries from overseas to help him with his plan.

The coffin was just a reminder to Xu Shaochen that he was being watched, to make him live in constant fear.

Tonight would be the first strike, targeting Zhang Wei, Mei Liangxin, and Zhao Qing—three of Xu Shaochen’s closest friends.

After dealing with them, he’d move on to Xu Shaochen’s women, then his mother in his hometown, and finally, Xu Shaochen himself.

He wanted Xu Shaochen to watch all his friends, lovers, and family die before him, to experience unimaginable pain.

According to the time, his men should have already started taking action.

    “Ding ding ding…”

    Suddenly, Zhou Yun’s Phone rang.

With a radiant smile, he thought it was news of success.

“Hey, what? What did you say?”

As soon as he answered, his expression froze.
