Chapter 649: I Wasn’t Ruthless Before, Nor Did I Fight for Anything
by xennovel“Bang!”
Deng Tianwen heard the words and immediately punched Deng Tianyang square in the face.
“Screw you and your ‘for my own good!'”
“If it weren’t for you, would Xiaohuan have died? After all these years, I’ve almost forgotten about her, but I can never forget this grudge!”
“Don’t worry, you’re not my first target, and you won’t be my last.”
“You hypocrites, aren’t you always looking down on others? How does it feel to be on the receiving end now?”
Deng Tianwen had lost control, furiously punching and kicking Deng Tianyang while shouting non-stop.
Xu Shaochen finally understood why Deng Tianwen was so determined to kill Deng Tianyang.
It wasn’t just because Deng Tianyang blocked his path to the family’s leadership; there was more to Xiaohuan’s death.
“Tianwen, Fourth Brother… stop! Listen to me, it was Second Brother’s fault back then. I’ve regretted it all these years. Please, just give me one more chance.”
Deng Tianyang clung to Deng Tianwen’s leg, begging him in despair.
“Give you another chance? Will someone come back to life if I do?”
“You want to see Big Brother, don’t you? Fine, as your younger brother, I’ll send you to join him tonight!”
Deng Tianwen snarled through gritted teeth, his bloodshot eyes filled with rage.
“You… you…”
Deng Tianyang’s eyes widened further, unable to form a complete sentence after hearing those words.
He hadn’t expected that Deng Tianwen had already killed Deng Tianquan.
“You’re insane! How are we going to explain this to the family?!”
Deng Tianyang shouted in a panic, his emotions collapsing under the suffocating weight of death.
“Second Brother, you don’t need to worry about that. Didn’t I meet with Chairman Xu today? I’m now great friends with him.”
Deng Tianwen’s lips curled into a smile, his tone calming down as his earlier agitation subsided.
Just as he said, he was close to forgetting Xiaohuan, but he could never leave the hatred behind.
Now, he had a woman he cared for—also an ordinary person.
So he had to become the family head to prevent anyone from stopping him from marrying that girl.
Although, for some reason, the girl didn’t seem too fond of him right now.
But that didn’t matter.
Deng Tianyang glanced over at Xu Shaochen.
Xu Shaochen gave him a faint smile and casually said, “If you hadn’t stationed people outside the private room tonight, maybe I would’ve let you go.”
“Chairman Xu, I’m sorry, I was wrong. Whatever deal Deng Tianwen made with you, I’ll offer you double. Please spare me, please let me live!”
Deng Tianyang crawled over to Xu Shaochen, knocking his head on the ground as he begged, crying profusely.
Xu Shaochen kicked him away, then looked over at Deng Tianyang’s four bodyguards. “Want to live?”
“Yes, we do.”
The four bodyguards answered immediately, without a second thought. No one isn’t afraid of death.
“If you want to live, kill him. His life will be your proof of loyalty. Otherwise, who knows if you’ll tell anyone about tonight when you return to The Northwest.”
Xu Shaochen pointed at Deng Tianyang, speaking with icy calm.
The four bodyguards looked at each other. After a moment of internal struggle, they stepped toward Deng Tianyang.
“What are you doing? Don’t come any closer! I’m your Young Master! I’m your master!”
Deng Tianyang, terrified by the approaching burly men, scrambled frantically on the ground.
Until he was cornered against the wall.
“Second Young Master, I’m sorry. Everyone’s out for themselves. One of you dying is better than all four of us.”
One of the bodyguards grunted through clenched teeth, then grabbed Deng Tianyang by the throat.
“No… cough, cough… let go…”
Deng Tianyang struggled in vain, as the other three bodyguards, their eyes red with rage, pinned him down.
Xu Shaochen took out a cigarette and offered it to Deng Tianwen. Together, the two of them stood calmly by the door, watching the scene unfold.
Xu gave Long Yi a subtle glance, and Long Yi stepped in to gather the guns, having his men take them away.
Eventually, after what felt like an eternity, Deng Tianyang’s struggles ceased.
“Fourth Young Master, Chairman Xu… can we go now? You’ll let us live, right?”
The bodyguard who had been the first to act stepped forward, a mixture of relief and anxiousness on his face.
“Tap, tap, tap…”
Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the hallway.
Moments later, a group of Police officers stormed in.
Upon seeing the scene, the four bodyguards who had just killed Deng Tianyang turned pale with fear.
“Officers, I called the Police! They killed my Second Brother! You have to bring them to justice!”
Deng Tianwen stepped forward, biting off each word. His eyes were still bloodshot, as if he’d been pushed to the brink out of sheer grief.
The four bodyguards were instantly struck as if by lightning.
Given their fingerprints all over Deng Tianyang’s body, there was no way for them to argue. The murder charge stuck.
“Second Young Master, you’re ruthless.”
The first bodyguard to kill smiled bitterly, glaring at Deng Tianwen with gritted teeth.
Now, even he realized how naive he had been earlier.
Deng Tianwen had silently endured the murder of his beloved woman for years, killed his eldest brother, and now had his second brother killed without hesitation.
How could a man like that ever allow the four of them to simply walk away? Deng Tianwen muttered to himself, “Before… I wasn’t ruthless, and I didn’t fight for anything. That’s why I couldn’t protect my woman.”
…
Mei Liangxin continued walking down the street, heading home.
Xu Shaochen had warned him that the people after him might already know where he lived, so wandering would only provoke suspicion.
He was still playing on his Phone, communicating with Long San via text.
Long San: There are two Cars. One is right behind you. They could act at any moment.
Mei Liangxin: Bro, my life depends on you. Please don’t let me die. I’ll bless your ancestors for eight generations!
Long San: …
Behind Mei Liangxin, the black Volkswagen slowed imperceptibly, blending into the traffic without drawing any attention.
A white Toyota trailed behind it, acting as backup, ready to assist the Volkswagen if needed.
What neither Car realized was that the vehicles around them, despite swapping out multiple times, were part of Xu Shaochen’s team.
Xu Shaochen had organized ten Cars and over forty men, rotating shifts to follow them. If they somehow still noticed, he would accept that.
“Vroom—”
Suddenly, the black Volkswagen behind Mei Liangxin sped up violently, aiming straight for him.
The other party wasn’t planning on a hitman-style attack. They were going for a hit-and-run.
