Xu Shaochen nodded slightly and said calmly, “Indeed, everyone has this kind of thing.”

“But having it in the hands of a pig and in the hands of a person means two entirely different things, don’t you think?”

Director Li’s smile faded slightly: “So, tell me, am I the person or the pig?”

“Neither.” Xu Shaochen shook his head.

Director Li’s face broke into a bright smile.

Xu Shaochen continued, “In my eyes, you’re not even as valuable as a pig. At least pork is more expensive nowadays. What do you have besides bullying the elderly?”

Director Li’s smile froze instantly, turning into a dark, gloomy expression: “Kid, I don’t think you understand the current situation.”

“The current situation is simple. I’m willing to shoot you dead. The real question is, do you dare shoot me?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Director Li provocatively, not hiding his disdain in the slightest.

Director Li’s expression was conflicted. He didn’t dare act rashly towards Xu Shaochen.

He couldn’t figure out Xu Shaochen’s background.

In his mind, Xu Shaochen might be the son of some powerful figure.

He was planning on staying in Jiangzhou for a while, and the reason for his visit made him cautious not to offend any local forces.

“How about this, my friend? What if we both take a step back?”

“You convince them to agree to the demolition and move quickly. Regarding that elderly man you mentioned earlier, we could discuss an additional compensation. How does that sound?”

Director Li inhaled deeply and looked at Xu Shaochen, speaking in a negotiating tone.

When Director Li first arrived, he immediately tried to assert dominance, thinking that Xu Shaochen was young and might be easily intimidated.

With this in mind, Director Li thought it would be better to avoid further trouble by just giving up some money.

“How does that help? Medical expenses are what you’re supposed to pay. As for the house, if they don’t want to demolish it, what can I do?”

Xu Shaochen shook his head, indicating his indifference.

“I’ve already given you a lot of face, young man. Don’t make me regret it.”

Director Li spoke coldly. He felt that he had already compromised significantly, yet Xu Shaochen still seemed dissatisfied.

“Do I need your ‘face’? Who do you think you are? You think you’re something special, don’t you?!”

“Let me tell you something. You can take your dogs and get out of here. And forget about that amusement park; this land is no longer for sale!”

Xu Shaochen’s voice turned icy as he spoke.

Upon hearing this, Director Li sneered sarcastically, “Young people are always so impulsive. Even though I haven’t officially signed the contract with the Jiangzhou government, it’s practically finalized. Do you think your word alone can cancel it?”

“Well, let me tell you today that my word counts.”

Xu Shaochen raised a single finger and tapped Director Li on the chest, speaking slowly and deliberately.

As soon as he finished, Xu Shaochen took out his Phone and called Liao Zhengli.

“Liao Shuyi, I heard that our city is planning to sell a piece of suburban land to a company from out of town to build an amusement park, right?”

Director Li’s face subtly changed. He hadn’t expected Xu Shaochen to be able to contact Liao Zhengli directly.

It was notable since Director Li himself hadn’t met Liao Zhengli, only his secretary.

“I heard the contract hasn’t been signed yet. How about selling it to me instead? After all, selling it is selling it, and it’s more reassuring to sell it to a local, isn’t it?”

After receiving a positive response, Xu Shaochen hung up. He knew Liao Zhengli would certainly give him this favor.

After all, Xu Shaochen was a trendsetter among Jiangzhou’s businesses.

The next second, his Phone started ringing in his pocket.

When he pulled it out, the screen showed the call was from Secretary Zhou.

Recalling Xu Shaochen’s earlier Phone call, a sense of dread washed over him.

“Hello, Secretary Zhou.” Director Li took a deep breath and answered the call.

“Director Li, I’m sorry. That piece of land we discussed may no longer be available. Perhaps you should look at other options?”

Upon hearing this, Director Li’s face changed drastically. “Secretary Zhou, isn’t this a bit too reckless? We had everything agreed upon!”

“The unexpected always happens, Director Li. Anyway, that’s all. We’ll be in touch.”

After saying that, Zhou Hong directly hung up.

“Beep… Beep…”

Listening to the busy tone coming from his Phone, Director Li’s face turned red with anger.

“Director Li, you’re not that young anymore. Getting too worked up could be bad for your health. You don’t exactly have the look of someone who’ll live long, but hey—every extra day is a gift, isn’t it?”

Xu Shaochen smiled warmly at Director Li as he spoke.

“Kid, you’re crossing a line!”

Director Li glared at Xu Shaochen, gritting his teeth. His grip on the Phone was so tight his knuckles were turning white.

Why did he want that land so badly? It wasn’t for some amusement park nonsense. The truth was, he knew there was an ancient tomb beneath it.

The amusement park was just a cover for his dig site.

But now, with one Phone call, Xu Shaochen had stolen the land he had been eyeing, like a duck getting snatched from his plate just before he could eat it. How could he not be furious?

“Yes, I’m crossing the line. What are you going to do about it? Shoot me?”

Xu Shaochen sneered, showing nothing but disdain.

Director Li took a deep breath, suppressing his rage: “Brother, I admit my attitude earlier was wrong. I apologize.”

“I’ve been looking at that plot of land for a long time, intending to build an amusement park there. I hope you can return it to me.”

At this point, the priority was getting the land back. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride when it comes to business.

Xu Shaochen was taken aback, his eyes narrowing as he suspiciously studied Director Li.

He was surprised. The previously arrogant Director Li was lowering his head just for this land.
