Chapter Index

    “You noticed it too?”

Xu Shaochen asked, surprised. He thought only he, as the person involved, had noticed such details.

After all, he was the one most directly exposed to Director Li’s changing moods.

It seemed like he had underestimated Zhang Wei’s impressive IQ of 250.

Zhang Wei chuckled lightly: “Isn’t it obvious?”

“This place is too far from the city. Just by its location, it’s not suitable for an amusement park. It’s completely removed from the consumer base. I refuse to believe Director Li would miss that obvious fact.”

“Moreover, after you made that Phone call and took the land he wanted, Director Li’s attitude shifted several times. All of it was aimed at obtaining that land.”

“Even if he plans to build an amusement park, why didn’t he choose a better location? Instead, he has his eyes glued to this particular plot.”

“This means he must have another motive. I’m guessing he found something underground. He plans to dig it up but doesn’t want to alert anyone, so he’s using the amusement park as an excuse to cover his tracks.”

“Once everyone believes he’s building an amusement park, no one will suspect anything, no matter how big his excavation efforts are.”

Zhang Wei laid out his analysis of the situation.

Xu Shaochen glanced at him and uttered two words: “Ancient tomb.”

Zhang Wei nodded in agreement: “If it’s underground and garners this much attention from him, it has to be an ancient tomb.”

“It might even be a very old tomb. Director Li wants to rob it. What’s your plan?”

“I plan to report it to the authorities,” Xu Shaochen responded seriously.

Zhang Wei rolled his eyes: “Stop with the nonsense. Speak like a normal person.”

“I’ll first hire some professionals. Using construction as a cover, we’ll dig it up and then decide what to do. Any artifacts from it that have significant historical value will definitely be handed over. I have no use for that kind of stuff.”

Xu Shaochen’s voice was calm. His interest in digging up the tomb was purely out of curiosity. As for the items inside, he planned to turn them over without issue.

He had no interest in becoming a tomb raider.

Of course, if he found any items he particularly liked, he wouldn’t mind keeping them.

“Donate an artifact, get a banner of honor. Remember to donate them one at a time, and that way you can fill your home with honor banners,” Zhang Wei joked.

“There’s also the 500 yuan reward,” Xu Shaochen added.

Zhang Wei smirked: “You don’t care about the true value of those artifacts, so why would you care about the 500 yuan?”

“It’s different. That 500 yuan is a reward from the state. I’m a proud patriot, a model youth. I never miss a military parade.”

    ………………

    On the other side.

Director Li’s convoy had gotten onto the highway, ready to leave Jiangzhou. Xu Shaochen’s warning had left him with no choice but to take it seriously.

Sitting in the Car, the more he thought about it, the more outraged he became. The idea of backing down left him feeling bitter and angry.

Even if he couldn’t have it, he wouldn’t let that tomb fall into Xu Shaochen’s hands either.

At the very least, that would ease his frustration.

After thinking about it for a while, he gritted his teeth and picked up the Phone, dialing a number.

    “Doot… Doot…”

    “Hello!”

After a few rings, a low voice came through the Phone.

Director Li spoke respectfully: “Third Master, it’s me, Li Lang.”

“Oh, I’m not deaf. I know it’s you. What’s going on? If it’s nothing urgent, don’t bother me. Things have been pretty annoying around here lately.”

“There is something, Third Master. I’m calling to bring you some money this time,” Li Lang quickly continued, “Third Master, I’ve discovered a tomb—a general’s tomb from before the Tang Dynasty. I’m sure it’s full of priceless treasures.”

“Oh? Where is it? Don’t tell me you’re joking. You find something like that and wouldn’t keep it to yourself? You’re really telling me?”

On the other end, Third Master’s voice was clearly skeptical. He knew Li Lang’s character well.

On the surface, Li Lang ran a company, but in reality, he used construction projects to conceal his tomb raiding activities. He had his own team of professional thieves.

If he really discovered a general’s tomb, he would hide it tightly, not tell anyone.

Hearing this response made Li Lang’s heart bleed. Gritting his teeth, he replied, “Third Master, to be honest, I intended to excavate it myself, but some meddling kids showed up out of nowhere…”

“So, you want my help to get revenge?” Third Master cut him off, his voice cold.

“Please rest assured, Third Master. The people who showed up don’t even know there’s a tomb beneath the surface. They’re just some naïve children trying to mess with me.”

“I’d rather offer that tomb to you, Third Master, than let those kids take advantage.”

“Where’s the tomb located?” Third Master was clearly interested now.

    “It’s in Jiangzhou.”

“Jiangzhou?” Third Master’s voice suddenly rose a few notches.

Li Lang was startled and confused: “Yes, in Jiangzhou, Third Master. Is there a problem? I swear I’m not lying to you.”

“No problem. Just send me the exact location. You don’t need to worry about the rest.”

    “Understood, Third Master.”

After hearing this, Li Lang smiled cruelly: “You little brat, even if someone else benefits from this, it sure won’t be you. Northwest’s Master Deng wants that land. Let’s see how you compete against him.”

Li Lang had no idea about Xu Shaochen’s true identity. He simply assumed Xu Shaochen was some young scion from a local Jiangzhou family.

That might give him some clout in Jiangzhou, but when compared to the Deng Family from the Northwest, it was like comparing a mouse to a tiger.

The only regret he had was that he wouldn’t be able to witness firsthand how Third Master Deng would deal with that kid.

Still, once Third Master Deng had taken care of the kid, Li Lang planned to reappear, standing tall and mighty in front of Xu Shaochen.

Just imagining the sight of Xu Shaochen groveling before him for mercy brought a smile to his face.

He could hardly wait to see Xu Shaochen on his knees, begging for forgiveness.

    …………

While Li Lang was lost in his dreams, Xu Shaochen had already returned to his company.

Upon returning, he instructed his secretary to have someone go to the City Government and sign the contract for that land.

He also made a call to Sun Hai, asking him to help bring in some experts on ancient tombs.

In his office, Xu Shaochen finally gave in to his secretary’s persistent seduction and decided to test the results of her new training.

To his surprise, her skills had improved rapidly. She had become a natural without any instruction, making him enjoy the experience even more.

After rewarding her with billions, Xu Shaochen decided to clock out early.

Each day at work, he’d go through some documents, play with his secretary, then leave work early.

Sitting in his Car, he glanced at his Rolex. It wasn’t even 4:30 PM yet. He had left thirty minutes earlier than the day before.

Xu Shaochen couldn’t help but sigh.

Ah, the life of the rich is just so dull and boring.
