Chapter 689: He’s Indeed No Match for Me
by xennovelIn the living room.
Wang Ao and his wife were brought in.
Xu Shaochen said to Liu Jun on the sofa, “Go outside for a smoke. I’ll call you back in if I need you.”
“Yes, Mr. Xu.”
Liu Jun replied respectfully and then walked outside.
As he passed by Wang Ao and his wife, he flashed them a slightly menacing smile.
He was becoming more accustomed to his role as Xu Shaochen’s enforcer, handling the dirty work Xu Shaochen preferred not to touch.
Wang Ao and his wife shuddered involuntarily under Liu Jun’s gaze.
“Please, have a seat.”
Xu Shaochen crossed his legs and waved his hand.
A bodyguard quickly stepped forward, respectfully handing him a cigar and lighting it with a lighter.
“Who are you?”
Wang Ao asked cautiously, staring at Xu Shaochen.
It was his first time meeting Xu Shaochen.
“You’re asking who I am?” Xu Shaochen chuckled as if he’d heard a joke, then turned his gaze to Zhao Li: “I was supposed to call you mother-in-law, but seeing you now, that title no longer fits. Calling you that would only make me sick.”
“It’s you!!!”
Both Wang Ao and his wife’s faces changed instantly. They knew this was the man who had broken their son’s leg.
“I don’t have time to waste on you. Two options.”
Xu Shaochen said calmly, raising one finger.
“First, get as far away as possible, and don’t meddle with Xiaoxian again.”
After finishing, he raised a second finger.
“Second, I bury you as deep as you go, to ensure you never trouble Xiaoxian again.”
“I’ve said my piece. Now, choose.”
Xu Shaochen took a puff of his cigar, clearly giving them time to think.
“Impossible!”
Wang Ao immediately rejected it, took a deep breath, and said, “Young man, I admit you might have some influence in Jiangzhou, but in Jingcheng, you fall short.”
“Do you even know that we were planning to ally with the Chen Family through a marriage between our daughter, Sixian, and Chen Ju, the Chen Family’s eldest son? How could you possibly compare to the Chen Family?”
Xu Shaochen nodded, “Of course I know. But Chen Ju is no match for me.”
He didn’t expect these two scoundrels to think about marrying his woman off to someone like Chen Ju.
“You… How arrogant!” Wang Ao nearly laughed from rage at Xu Shaochen’s brazen attitude.
“Don’t believe me? Then why don’t you ask him yourself?”
Xu Shaochen smiled nonchalantly and made a video call to Chen Ju.
“Ha, acting like a big shot.”
Wang Ao and Zhao Li exchanged mocking looks.
Who was Chen Ju? He was the eldest son and future heir of the Chen Family.
And who was Xu Shaochen? Just some small fry from Jiangzhou. How could he know someone like Chen Ju?
“Xu Shao, what’s the matter? Isn’t it strange for two men to video call?”
Before long, Chen Ju answered the video call.
Wang Ao and Zhao Li didn’t react much initially. Since they didn’t often meet Chen Ju, they couldn’t recognize his voice right away.
“Heh. Chen Da Shao, have you heard of the Wang Family in Jingcheng?”
Xu Shaochen briefly explained the situation.
“Damn, are they insane?!”
Chen Ju was dumbfounded after hearing the story. What kind of madness would cause the Wang Family to mess up like this?
A perfect golden groom, the deputy heir of the Xu Corporation, yet they chose to make him an enemy. It was laughable.
“Chen Da Shao, tell them yourself: Am I really inferior to you?”
Xu Shaochen chuckled and handed the Phone to Wang Ao.
“Hmph!”
Wang Ao snorted disdainfully, unconcerned as he took the Phone. But once he saw the face on the screen, his expression completely changed.
“Ch-Chen Shao!”
Wang Ao looked at Chen Ju on the screen with wide eyes, utterly shocked.
“How… how is this possible?!”
Zhao Li was equally stunned, her mind blank as if she were hallucinating.
Xu Shaochen actually knew Chen Ju, and they were chatting casually just now.
Suddenly, both Wang Ao and Zhao Li felt a burning sensation in their faces, as if they had been slapped several times.
“Wang Ao, you really messed up. A golden opportunity for a perfect son-in-law, yet you messed it up. I wouldn’t dare touch Xiaoxian; she belongs to Xu Shao! Even if I had a hundred lives, I wouldn’t risk it.”
Chen Ju, giving Xu Shaochen full respect, praised him low while mocking himself.
“Ch-Chen Shao, you’re… you’re not joking, are you?”
Wang Ao, now panicking, stammered and forced an awkward smile.
“Who do you think you are? You think I’d waste my time joking with you?”
“Before you went to Jiangzhou, didn’t you check thoroughly? The person in front of you is the future deputy heir of the Xu Corporation. Still think I’m joking with you?”
Chen Ju made no effort to conceal his mockery and disdain, along with a hint of schadenfreude.
“Boom!”
Wang Ao and Zhao Li’s minds went blank. The Phone fell from their hands, and the call cut off.
They stared at Xu Shaochen in shock, their faces pale, cold sweat running down their backs.
Never had they imagined that Xu Shaochen had such strong backing.
Now they were filled with regret. If they had known, they would’ve thoroughly investigated Xu Shaochen’s connections beforehand.
Not only did they miss out on a golden opportunity to curry favor, but they had also made a deadly enemy. What a loss! “So, what’s your choice? Option one or option two?”
Xu Shaochen asked slowly, his gaze full of mockery.
Wang Ao exchanged glances with Zhao Li. He was unwilling to miss out on an opportunity to ingratiate themselves with Xu Shaochen.
Zhao Li understood and approached Xu Shaochen with a flattering smile: “Xu Shao, it’s all a misunderstanding. I’m Xiaoxian’s mother, and Xiaoxian is so lucky to be with you. Now I’m reassured…”
“I asked you to choose between one and two. If you don’t choose soon, I will choose for you.”
Xu Shaochen cut her off, showing no courtesy.
The smile on Zhao Li’s face instantly froze, her expression turning awkward as her face flushed with embarrassment.
“Ahem, Xu Shao, no matter what, Zhao Li is still Xiaoxian’s mother, and I suppose I’m her father…” Wang Ao spoke up himself.
“Thud!”
Without hesitation, Xu Shaochen threw the half-smoked cigar directly at Wang Ao’s face.
“Ah!”
Wang Ao let out a cry, instinctively covering his face as the lit cigar left a clear burn mark.
Xu Shaochen sneered, looking at them with disdain:
“Still trying to act high and mighty in front of me? People like you aren’t even qualified to be my dogs. Get it?”
