Chapter Index

    “Ring ring ring…”

Xu Shaochen heard his Phone ringing in his dream.

He thought he must be going crazy, dreaming about his Phone ringing.

“Wake up, honey, Shaochen, wake up, your Phone’s ringing.”

Zhao Qingyu nudged Xu Shaochen awake.

Xu Shaochen groggily opened his eyes and mumbled, “What a coincidence. I just dreamed about my Phone ringing.”

Hearing this, Zhao Qingyu couldn’t help but laugh and handed him the Phone. “Here, it’s from Mei Liangxin.”

“What the hell does he want so early in the morning?” Xu Shaochen cursed before picking up the Phone. “Spit it out quickly; if you have nothing important, don’t bother me.”

Getting woken up right when you’re in deep sleep is the worst.

“Whoa, did you eat gunpowder this morning? What’s with the temper?”

Mei Liangxin sounded puzzled, thinking he hadn’t done anything to provoke him.

Little did he know, just calling Xu Shaochen and waking him up was already an offense.

“Do you need something or not?” Xu Shaochen asked.

“Yes, I’m on my way to your house. Come with me to the wedding planning company—my wedding is this weekend.”

    Mei Liangxin replied.

“You’re dragging me to the wedding planner. Are you inviting me to the bridal chamber too?”

Xu Shaochen quipped sarcastically, but still began dressing himself with one hand under Zhao Qingyu’s help.

“Sure, I’ll let Yingying sleep in the guest room, and you can join me in the bridal chamber. Happy now?”

    “Disgusting! You’re so damn gross!”

Xu Shaochen shivered and cursed before hanging up the call.

Ten minutes later, Xu Shaochen climbed into Mei Liangxin’s bright red BMW at the entrance of his manor.

Following behind the BMW at a constant distance was Long Yi and Long Er in a Rolls-Royce.

“Your wedding is this weekend, and you haven’t settled the wedding planner yet? Big Brother Mei, what have you been doing?”

Inside the Car, Xu Shaochen didn’t hold back on the sarcasm.

“I’ve been busy trying on wedding dresses, taking wedding photos, handling invitations and booking the hotel. You think all that doesn’t take time?”

“Besides, the wedding planner has already been reserved. We’re just going today to see how the preparations are coming along.”

Mei Liangxin explained, feeling like his days had been nonstop chaos, to the point where even this soon-to-be groom was growing tired of all the wedding fuss.

“Let me tell you, next time you’re getting married and dealing with planners, don’t call me for it, especially not in the morning.”

    Xu Shaochen warned.

“Fine.” Mei Liangxin nodded, but then something felt off. “Wait a minute, there’s no ‘next time.’ This is the only wedding in my life!”

Half an hour later, the Car parked outside a wedding planning company called “Great Tang.”

“I found this company online. The reviews were pretty good. They handle both Western and traditional Chinese weddings very well.”

Mei Liangxin explained as he lead Xu Shaochen into the wedding planning company.

“Good morning, gentlemen. How may I assist you today?”

A receptionist with a sweet smile greeted them as they walked in.

“What else would we be here for? Of course to bring business to your company! My name’s Mei; I made an appointment over the Phone a few days ago.”

Mei Liangxin replied, looking at the receptionist.

The receptionist suddenly realized who he was, becoming much more respectful. “Ah, Mr. Mei, please wait a moment.”

Considering Mei Liangxin’s high-end wedding, she was being extra careful in her hospitality.

After all, he might be a repeat customer. With how common it is for the rich to marry and divorce nowadays…

In fact, their company had serviced one client a total of five times.

After saying that, she picked up the Phone. “Hello? Manager Zhang, Mr. Mei, who made an appointment earlier, has arrived.”

After finishing the call, the receptionist turned back to Mei Liangxin and Xu Shaochen. “Manager Zhang will be out soon. He specializes in our Western wedding services.”

“You’re having a Western-style wedding? I saw some videos online; traditional Chinese ones seem pretty nice.” Xu Shaochen offered a small suggestion.

Mei Liangxin smirked. “I originally wanted a Chinese wedding too, but Yingying thought it’d be too complicated. Now I think she was right. If a Western wedding’s this much hassle, a Chinese one would drive me nuts!”

Xu Shaochen was speechless. Most people want their weddings to be as luxurious as possible.

But these two? They just wanted it to be as simple as possible. They really were a perfect match.

    “Click, click, click…”

A steady rhythm of footsteps approached as a slightly overweight middle-aged man in a suit walked over with a smile.

    “Good morning, Manager Zhang.”

The receptionist greeted him with respect.

“Which of you is Mr. Mei?”

Manager Zhang glanced back and forth between Xu Shaochen and Mei Liangxin.

“That would be me.” Mei Liangxin stepped forward.

Upon seeing him, Manager Zhang displayed a guilty expression. “Mr. Mei, I deeply apologize. How about we push your wedding back two days, or maybe switch to a traditional Chinese format, because the weekend has already been fully booked. We just don’t have the capacity.”

Mei Liangxin’s expression darkened, becoming visibly unpleasant. “Manager Zhang, that’s not cool. When I made the call to reserve, you said everything would be fine. Now you’re telling me the weekend’s already booked? Are you playing with me?”

“I have my wedding this weekend. You expect me to find another wedding planning company now? Are you even being professional? I reserved first, and now you give the weekend spot to someone else? What on earth is going on here? Does your company have no sense of integrity?”

It wasn’t unreasonable for Mei Liangxin to get upset. Even Xu Shaochen frowned beside him, feeling annoyed.

Mei Liangxin had made the reservation days ahead. Everything for the wedding day had been prepared.

Now, with such short notice, would it even be possible for him to find another wedding planner in time?

Manager Zhang remained calm and composed. “Mr. Mei, I truly apologize, but there’s nothing I can do. I hope you can understand our position. We will fully refund your deposit.”

“I don’t need the money! I’m telling you, if my wedding is ruined because of your company, you’ll regret it!”

Mei Liangxin coldly interrupted, extremely furious!

Though he often complained about how annoying the wedding was, it was still one of the most important days of his life. Now, with the planner threatening to screw things up, how could he not be angry?

Manager Zhang’s face darkened with a frosty tone: “Mr. Mei, our company never flinches at threats. We’ve received our fair share of them and are still doing well.”

“So, I’d sincerely advise you to think before you speak next time.”
