Chapter Index

Inside a slowly moving extended Maybach.

“Keep an eye on him. I want to know everything he does these days, even what he eats for breakfast. I need to know every detail!”

Xiao Huang said coldly to a middle-aged man sitting opposite him, a cigar clenched between his teeth.

At this moment, he no longer bore any resemblance to the arrogant and unruly demeanor he had displayed in the private room earlier.

He was as calm as a hunter on a desolate plain.

“Young Master, Jingcheng is our territory…”

The middle-aged man looked at Xiao Huang with confusion, not understanding why he wanted to make things so complicated.

“Jingcheng has never been our territory!”

Xiao Huang interrupted the middle-aged man before he could finish speaking.

The middle-aged man was taken aback, then nodded: “Yes, Young Master. I misspoke.”

“But compared to Xu Shaochen, our influence in Jingcheng is stronger. Why not just eliminate him?”

“Do you know who he is?” Xiao Huang asked.

The middle-aged man nodded: “Xu Shaochen, the young director of Xu Corporation.”

He didn’t understand why Xiao Huang would ask such a simple question. Of course, he had already investigated Xu Shaochen’s identity thoroughly.

“Do you know what being the young director of Xu Corporation represents?” Xiao Huang asked. Without waiting for the middle-aged man to answer, he continued, “It represents money! Countless amounts of money!”

“I want his money, do you understand? I raised a dog in the Northwest to make money for me. He beat my dog, so he must pay!”

The middle-aged man nodded, then asked, “Young Master, how should we go about getting money from him?”

“That’s not for you to worry about. You just need to follow my instructions,” Xiao Huang said coolly, his tone already showing signs of displeasure.

The middle-aged man perked up, nodded, and said nothing more.

He was well aware that this so-called number one playboy of Jingcheng was just an act, fooling the entire city and even the entire Xiao Family.

The Xiao Family had their eyes fixed on this small patch of land in Jingcheng.

Xiao Huang, however, took a different approach, pretending to be an arrogant playboy who spent his days indulging in Jingcheng’s pleasures and doing nothing productive.

But in reality, he was building up his own power bases one after another outside of Jingcheng.

These forces were constantly making money for him and constructing a vast network of relationships.

The Zhao Family in the Northwest was one of the standouts among these.

However, what the middle-aged man couldn’t understand was why Xiao Huang wasn’t interested in being the Xiao Family heir, but instead was obsessed with making money, to the point of having an almost pathological fascination with it.

Otherwise, logically speaking, it would be best not to conflict with Xu Shaochen, as there was no need for it.

Could it be that he simply loved money?

The middle-aged man was filled with curiosity. Having worked for Xiao Huang for so many years, he still found him inscrutable.

It was as if he was hiding countless secrets.

Where did all that money go?

    ……

After several rounds of drinks and a variety of dishes,

Chen Ju took Xu Shaochen and his group to the Jingcheng Grand Hotel after they had eaten and drunk their fill.

“Rest well. I’ll come pick you up tonight to meet the Old Master.”

After showing Xu Shaochen and his companions to their reserved rooms, Chen Ju took his leave.

Chen Ju had booked five rooms in total: one for Xu Shaochen and Xie Wei, one for Deng Tianwen and Hou Xiaoyan, and the remaining three for the bodyguards.

The five rooms were all adjacent to each other.

“It doesn’t seem much different from our Jiangzhou,” Xie Wei said.

Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the traffic below, Xie Wei felt somewhat unimpressed.

“There is one difference. In Jingcheng, if you throw a brick randomly, you might hit an official,” Xu Shaochen said with a smile, taking out his Phone to call Liang Huan and Zhao Li, telling them to come see him immediately.

Upon receiving Xu Shaochen’s call, Liang Huan and Zhao Li were overjoyed. Only they knew how they had been getting by during this period.

Now they just wanted to sing out loud: We’ve waited so long for this day, we’ve looked for so long, and finally our dream has come true.

    The two arrived almost simultaneously.

“Young Master Xu,” the two greeted Xu Shaochen respectfully, forcibly suppressing the excitement in their hearts.

“How have you been lately?” Xu Shaochen asked, feigning ignorance, and made a gesture inviting them to sit down.

The two gave a bitter smile. Liang Huan said, “Young Master Xu, are you teasing us? You can guess how we’ve been, can’t you?”

“Yeah, even a distant relative dares to ride roughshod over me now,” Zhao Li said through gritted teeth, looking expectantly at Xu Shaochen.

Their hope of turning the tables rested entirely on Xu Shaochen.

“Weiwei, bring the things from my suitcase,” Xu Shaochen said to Xie Wei.

Xie Wei nodded, went into the bedroom, opened the suitcase, and moments later came out with four contracts.

“Sign these,” Xu Shaochen handed the contracts to the two.

As they flipped through the contracts, the two men’s breathing became heavy, and the pens in their hands felt as heavy as a thousand pounds.

A few minutes later, the two finally signed their names on the contracts.

“Gentlemen, the special medicine will be in mass production and on the market for sale by September. By then, you’ll both be newly minted rich men,” Xu Shaochen said with a slight smile, looking at the two.

The two men’s faces also broke into smiles, clutching the contracts tightly. Their days of holding their heads high had finally arrived.

“Young Master Xu, you’ve just arrived in Jingcheng. Would you like to go out and have some fun together tonight?” Zhao Li asked.

“I have to meet the Old Master of the Chen Family tonight. We’ll see if there’s time later,” Xu Shaochen answered after a moment’s thought.

    “Alright, we’ll contact you then.”

“Young Master Xu, we’ll take our leave now.”

The two were already eager to leave.

Xu Shaochen understood their current state of mind and nodded, watching as they left.

“Look at how anxious they are. Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were rushing back to consummate a marriage,” Xie Wei said jokingly, straddling Xu Shaochen’s legs and wrapping her arms around his neck, her body leaning slightly forward.

Clearly, she was deliberately saying this to entice Xu Shaochen.

Now that Xu Shaochen finally belonged to her alone, at home with so many women, she only had the chance to serve him in bed once or twice a day.

“Hehe, for them, this is much more satisfying than consummating a marriage,” Xu Shaochen said with a laugh, carrying Xie Wei to the floor-to-ceiling window.

“What are you doing! Not here!” Xie Wei was instantly frightened, her face paling. A sense of shame washed over her, and her entire body stiffened.

“It’s fine. This glass is specially made. We can see outside from the inside, but from the outside, they can’t see through to the inside at all,” Xu Shaochen said nonchalantly. Enjoying the beautiful scenery while savoring a beautiful woman – this was living.

“But… it’s still embarrassing. It feels like we’re doing that on the street,” Xie Wei said, her face flushed red as she looked at the crowd below, but she no longer struggled.
