Chapter 723: Old Master Chen

Half an hour after leaving the hotel the Car stopped at the entrance of the Chen Family.

“Even we family members can’t see the Old Master yet you bring an outsider to see him. Do you think that’s possible?”

“Chen Ling this is my business. I don’t need you to meddle” Chen Ju said coldly leading Xu Shaochen into the small courtyard.

Seeing this anger flashed in Chen Ling’s eyes. Let’s see how you get kicked out later you fool.

I’ve been waiting here for so long without seeing the Old Master yet you think you can bring an outsider to see him. It’s utterly ridiculous.

However his cold sneer turned to shock then to jealousy and anger.

Because he saw the housekeeper responsible for taking care of the Old Master actually inviting the two into the inner courtyard.

Chen Ling was so angry his breathing became heavy his eyes bloodshot his fists clenched rage burning in his heart.

He had been waiting outside for days sometimes waiting an entire day.

But the Old Master hadn’t seen him once.

Yet now Chen Ju brought a stranger in and the Old Master received them.

What did this mean?

He was after all the Old Master’s direct grandson yet he couldn’t even compare to a stranger?

Or was the Old Master’s favoritism towards Chen Ju already at this level?

Xu Shaochen naturally didn’t know about Chen Ling’s jealousy and anger outside. He had already met the Old Master Chen.

Old Master Chen looked at Xu Shaochen repeating the word ‘similar’ twice. His gaze seemed distant clearly reminiscing about something.

Xu Shaochen raised an eyebrow instantly realizing something “Old Master did you know my grandfather?”

Given the Old Master’s age he could only have had interactions with Xu Shaochen’s grandfather.

Old Master Chen nodded “Yes we… we were friends.”

“May I ask what business Old Master has with me?” Xu Shaochen asked. He didn’t know much about his own grandfather so there was no point in trying to reminisce.

Old Master Chen’s face turned solemn as he said “I… I called you here because I want to ask you something. No matter what please… please help… help protect the Chen Family.”

At this point he became somewhat agitated his speech becoming unclear stuttering several times before completing a full sentence.

“Old Master Chen why do you say this? The Chen Family is currently at its peak. Chen Ju is steady and wise handling matters skillfully truly a leader for rejuvenation. When would the Chen Family need an outsider like me for protection?”

Old Master Chen was talking about a problem many families currently face. The older generation is gradually passing away there’s a gap in the middle and the younger generation hasn’t fully grown up yet.

Seeing Old Master Chen’s pleading eyes and thinking of his decent relationship with Chen Ju Xu Shaochen really couldn’t refuse.
