Chapter Index

The middle-aged man looked at Xu Shaochen with a flash of disdain in his eyes. He had been a professional scammer for years. Did this young brat really think he could beat him? He could ruin this kid in seconds.

However, that disdain was quickly hidden as he looked around at the crowd with a tearful expression. He said, “Thank you, thank you everyone for standing up for a poor man like me. There really are more good people in this world!”

A bunch of fools! It’s because of people like you that my scams always succeed! I should be the one thanking you.

“Big brother, don’t worry. Today we’ll make sure you get justice! If he doesn’t take you to the hospital or refuses to compensate you, we won’t let him leave!”

The middle-aged woman who spoke first once again chimed in, as if she were some kind of savior.

“Did you actually see me hit him?”

Xu Shaochen looked coldly at the middle-aged woman, with clear disdain in his eyes. This self-righteous fool was even more annoying than the scammer on the ground.

The middle-aged woman’s face stiffened, but she quickly responded stubbornly, “What if I didn’t see it? You’re the only car here, and he’s lying right in front of it. If it wasn’t you, then who was it? Don’t even try to argue!”

“I don’t know whether to call you stupid or evil.” Xu Shaochen ground his teeth as he looked at the woman. Her absurd words made his anger flare.

Her logic was no different from asking, ‘If you didn’t hit him, why did you help him up?’

“How dare you speak like that! Try insulting me again if you have the guts! I’m telling you, I’m going to stand up to you today. If you don’t pay up, you’re not going anywhere!”

The middle-aged woman shrieked, blocking Xu Shaochen’s car like a shrew.

Xu Shaochen glanced at her coldly, barely restraining the urge to slap her. He looked at the middle-aged man on the ground and said, “You really like money, don’t you?”

“What do you mean by that? I don’t care about anything else, but you’re not leaving today without paying!” The man’s eyes lit up as he clung tightly to Xu Shaochen’s leg.

He thought Xu Shaochen was about to give in and was calculating how much he could ask for. Considering Xu Shaochen drove such a nice car and had a driver, asking for 100,000 to 80,000 shouldn’t be too much, right?

Xu Shaochen looked down at the man with a hint of mockery in his eyes. “Since you love money so much, I’ll give you money.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Shaochen’s gaze turned sharp. He looked at Long Er and said coldly, “Beat him. If he dies, I’ll pay his family a few million in one go!”

Long Er would never disobey Xu Shaochen’s orders. He immediately reached down and dragged the middle-aged man away.

The middle-aged woman jumped out again, trying to make herself relevant. She looked at Xu Shaochen and screeched, “Do you even have a conscience? You hit someone, and instead of paying, you now want to beat him up? People like you better be careful! One day, you might end up in a car crash, and your entire family will die!”

    “Smack!”

Before she could finish, Xu Shaochen slapped her hard across the face.

    “Ah!”

The middle-aged woman screamed as five red finger marks appeared on her face, with blood seeping from the corners of her mouth.

“I usually don’t hit women, but that doesn’t mean I won’t hit a bitch. Remember this: don’t test my patience with your temper.” Xu Shaochen coldly stared at the woman. He had tolerated her again and again, but cursing his family was the last straw.

Feeling the burning pain on her face, the middle-aged woman was completely stunned. Realizing what had happened, she exploded in anger.

“How dare you hit me! I’ll fight you, you bastard! I curse your entire family to die!”

The middle-aged woman clawed at Xu Shaochen like a madwoman, her face twisted with rage.

But someone on the side pulled her back, advising, “Sister, calm down. That bastard might really be a scammer. If his waist hurts, why is he holding his hand?”

The crowd’s attention turned to the middle-aged man on the ground.

Sure enough, the man was screaming that his waist was broken while clutching his left hand.

Everyone felt a wave of shame. It was as if their collective intelligence had been trampled on. They had nearly gotten Xu Shaochen, an innocent person, into trouble because of this scumbag.

The middle-aged woman’s face turned from green to white as she stood there, unwilling to believe what had just happened. If the man was really faking it, hadn’t she just made a fool of herself?

The middle-aged man’s expression froze too. His face turning awkward, he stammered, “I… my hand was also hurt in the accident.”

“Right, the big brother is correct. He’s not exactly young, so it’s possible that an injury could affect his whole body. This only proves how badly you hit him,” she quickly added, trying to salvage her earlier stance.

But this time, no one in the crowd supported her. They weren’t idiots. Suspecting that the man was a scammer, there was no way they’d continue to abet his scheme.

However, their hearts were full of rage. Being manipulated into doing wrong through their sympathy was something no one could accept.

“The fact that you haven’t been beaten to death yet makes you grateful for the stable public security here in Longguo.” Xu Shaochen looked at the middle-aged woman coldly, filled with disdain.

“Ah! Stop beating me! Stop beating me!”

A scream filled the air as Long Er showed no mercy, raining down punches on the middle-aged man.

However, he controlled his strength. Although Xu Shaochen had said he didn’t mind if the man died, Long Er wasn’t stupid enough to actually kill someone.

In a flash, the middle-aged man was left with a swollen, bruised face, lying on the ground, groaning.

A moment ago, his screams were fake; now, they were genuine.

“You fool. You must be blind to try scamming me.”

Xu Shaochen looked at the middle-aged man coldly, spat out the words, and turned to get back in his car.

“You can’t leave! You hit someone, refused to pay, and then beat them up like this. You’re not leaving!”

The middle-aged woman blocked Xu Shaochen’s way, screaming.

    “Idiot.”

Xu Shaochen didn’t hesitate to push her aside and directly stepped into his car.

“Help! Everyone come and see! He hit someone, refused to pay, and now he’s trying to leave after beating me up! Please, someone help me get justice!”

The middle-aged man lay in front of the car, rolling around and making a scene. Beaten this badly, he planned to squeeze every penny he could out of Xu Shaochen, refusing to let him leave.

He didn’t believe Xu Shaochen would dare to actually drive over him.

    “Boss?”

From the driver’s seat, Long Er turned back to Xu Shaochen with an inquiring look.

Xu Shaochen loosened his collar buttons, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes. With an emotionless expression, he said, “Drive. Run him over.”

He didn’t believe for a second that a scammer like this wasn’t afraid to die.

And if he truly wasn’t afraid of death, killing him would only cost a few million. Xu Shaochen could easily afford it.

Threaten him? Xu Shaochen wouldn’t accept threats from anyone, under any circumstance!
