Chapter 8: The Air Fell Silent

After leaving the office,

Xu Shaochen took the elevator directly to the VIP ward floor and found his mother.

“Mom, are you feeling better?” Xu Shaochen smiled as he walked in.

“Xiao Chen, you’re here. What’s going on? They suddenly moved me up here just now. We don’t have the money to afford such a high-class ward!”

Seeing Xu Shaochen, Li Xiaoli, who was lying in the hospital bed, asked in a panicked voice. She had been feeling uneasy all this time, as if there were thorns in the bed.

For people like them, being suddenly transferred from a regular ward to a VIP one didn’t bring joy but rather panic and worry.

Xu Shaochen stepped forward, gently holding her hand, and said, “Mom, don’t worry. We’re fine; we have money now, and your surgery fees are covered. Once you’re discharged, we can live a good life.”

“Wh-what is this about? Xiao Chen, don’t scare me. You didn’t do something illegal, did you? Hurry and return the money. Let’s just go home, okay?” Hearing this, Li Xiaoli immediately panicked, trying to sit up in her bed as she spoke.

Xu Shaochen helped her lie back down, then said, “Mom, what are you thinking? This money came from Grandpa. It turns out he didn’t die; he became wealthy over the years and left the money for us.”

He didn’t tell her that his grandfather was actually the world’s richest man. He only mentioned that some money had been left for them to avoid scaring his mother.

“You’re… you’re not lying to me?” Li Xiaoli looked at Xu Shaochen, still skeptical. After all, this story sounded quite unbelievable.

Xu Shaochen smiled bitterly, “Mom, if I had done something illegal, would I be sitting here so calmly? Besides, I’m your son, don’t you know me better than that?”

“Whew… That’s good, then. That’s good.” Hearing this, Li Xiaoli finally calmed down, letting out a long breath.

After chatting with his mom for a bit longer, Xu Shaochen got up to leave. He found the young nurse who was looking after his mom and handed her 20,000 yuan out of the 30,000 he had just withdrawn, asking her to take good care of his mother.

Just as he was about to leave the hospital, he bumped into a familiar face—his professional course teacher, Zhao Qingyu.

“Shaochen, what are you doing here?”

Zhao Qingyu also saw Xu Shaochen and walked over to greet him first. After all, she had a good impression of him.

Xu Shaochen was an all-around outstanding student, winning scholarships throughout the year. Students with excellent grades always receive special attention from teachers.

“Hello, Teacher Zhao. My mom is in the hospital. What about you? Are you not feeling well?” Xu Shaochen asked with a slight smile on his face, though his eyes were secretly admiring Zhao Qingyu’s outfit today.

Zhao Qingyu was twenty-six years old, standing around 1.65 meters tall. Her silky long hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her delicate, fair face was accentuated by a pair of lips that were especially red and alluring. Overall, she exuded a gentle demeanor, with a silver necklace adorning her neck.

Today, she was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt, subtly revealing her slender waist, paired with sky-blue skinny jeans. On her delicate feet, she wore crystal high-heeled sandals, which made her look even taller.

Zhao Qingyu, however, didn’t notice Xu Shaochen’s gaze. With a slightly pale face, she said, “My younger brother is also in the hospital. Forget it, I’ll talk to you later. I’m going to check on him first. I’ll come to see your mother another day.”

“Take it easy, Teacher Zhao. See you at school.”

“See you at school.”

As he watched Zhao Qingyu walk away, her long and slender legs stirred up endless fantasies in Xu Shaochen’s mind. He felt as though a fire was ignited in his heart.

Taking a deep breath, Xu Shaochen left the hospital and then dialed Liu Ruxu’s number. Right now, he only wanted to vent his frustration.

About half an hour later, a white BMW pulled up in front of Xu Shaochen.

The car window rolled down, revealing Liu Ruxu’s stunning face. She playfully beckoned Xu Shaochen with her finger, “Shaochen, why are you standing there in a daze? Get in the car. Do I have to come down and invite you myself?”

Xu Shaochen opened the passenger door and got in. The car was filled with a faint fragrance—probably a common trait in women’s cars.

“You were quick. How’s your mom doing? Maybe some other day, I could bring something over and check on her.” Liu Ruxu said as she drove, clearly trying to get closer to Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen shook his head, gently refusing the offer, “It’s okay. There’s no need for you to spend money.”

Their relationship was simple, and it wouldn’t be right to complicate it further. After all, she wasn’t his official girlfriend.

As they chatted, Xu Shaochen’s eyes wandered over Liu Ruxu’s body. Perhaps due to the weather, Liu Ruxu’s pretty face was slightly flushed, resembling a ripe apple, tempting people to take a bite.

Looking at her exquisite profile, Xu Shaochen sincerely complimented, “Sister Liu, you’re really beautiful.”

They continued to chat casually as they drove. With the wind blowing and a beautiful woman by his side, Xu Shaochen felt quite relaxed.

They headed straight to the bedroom.

Liu Ruxu tightly embraced Xu Shaochen, giving him a seductive smile as if saying everything without words…

With that, he picked Liu Ruxu up and carried her into the bathroom.

She looked around the same age as Liu Ruxu and bore a striking resemblance to her, though she had a more innocent beauty compared to Liu Ruxu’s sultry charm. Dressed in a black professional outfit, she had a tall, voluptuous figure that her uniform only enhanced.

“So, Sis came back early today? Hehe, let’s shower together then.”

As she heard the sound of water running inside, Liu Rushuang raised her brows slightly, then mischievously kicked off her high heels and walked towards the bathroom.

The bathroom door opened.

Xu Shaochen and Liu Ruxu, who were playing around in the bathtub, instinctively looked up towards the entrance.

The six eyes met, and the air fell silent.

“Ahhhhhhhhh!”

Two sharp screams rang out at the same time.
