Chapter Index

    “Okay, Dad.”

Su Zhaoming smirked, glancing at Chen Ju with a mocking expression, and pulled out his phone.

He had already prepared a song in advance—’Today is a Good Day.’ He believed the moment that song played, the atmosphere would explode with excitement.

    “Bang!”

Just as he was about to hit the play button, Xu Shaochen slapped the phone out of his hand. It flew away and smashed onto the ground, its screen shattering into pieces.

“I don’t care what kind of grudge you have with the Chen family, but today I expect you all to behave. If you’re here to pay respects, you’re welcome. If you’re here to cause trouble, you can get lost early.”

Xu Shaochen’s cold gaze locked onto Su Tianwen, his eyes icy and filled with contempt, as though looking at an insignificant bug.

In the mourning hall for the Old Master Chen, such people could not be tolerated.

In an instant, the entire mourning hall fell silent.

“How dare you! You insolent brat…”

Seeing Xu Shaochen disrespect his father so blatantly, Su Zhaoming flew into a rage.

    “Shut your mouth!”

Before he could finish his sentence, Su Tianwen shot him a sharp look, silencing him instantly.

Su Zhaoming closed his mouth, staring at his father in confusion.

“Young Master Xu, my son was rude. I apologize. But the bad blood between the Su and Chen families is well-known. You’d best not interfere.”

Su Tianwen ignored Su Zhaoming, speaking to Xu Shaochen with a cold and indifferent tone.

The apology showed respect but did not mean that because of Xu Shaochen’s words, Su Tianwen was going to leave today with his tail between his legs.

If he did that, where would his dignity be? Wouldn’t today just become one big joke?

Su Zhaoming’s pupils shrank suddenly. Seeing his father act so courteously toward Xu Shaochen, paired with recent rumors from Jingcheng, he quietly deduced Xu Shaochen’s true identity.

Thinking back to how he had mocked Xu Shaochen the previous day, sweat broke out on his forehead in fear.

But he quickly shoved that fear aside. With so many Su Family members present today, what could this Xu possibly do to him? Gaining more confidence from the thought, his stance stiffened.

“Well-known? I’m unaware. I only know that I hold 30% of Chen Family’s industries’ shares. So tell me—would I allow some wild dogs to run amok on my own turf?”

Xu Shaochen indeed didn’t know the history between the Su and Chen families, nor did he care.

His words made it clear to everyone where he stood.

He was letting everyone know that the Chen family was under his protection, and anyone who dared mess with the Chen family was messing with him.

And today, Su Tianwen was definitely not going to leave so easily. Xu Shaochen needed to make an example. If the consequences of interference weren’t clear, there would always be people who wouldn’t behave.

The members of the Chen family were elated. Those who had previously opposed giving Xu Shaochen the 30% shares now fully appreciated Old Master Chen’s foresight.

“Young Master Xu, isn’t this a bit excessive? I can’t imagine you care for the Chen family’s meager leftovers, with all your wealth.”

Su Tianwen’s face darkened, but he tried his best to maintain a calm tone to avoid escalating the conflict.

Xu Shaochen offered a playful smile: “Leftovers? Such arrogance. How about this—your Su Family can hand over 30% of your shares to me, and today I’ll simply watch from the sidelines.”

“Young Master Xu, are you determined to make things difficult for me today?”

Su Tianwen asked coldly, his fists clenched tightly, veins bulging with anger.

    “Slap!”

Xu Shaochen raised his hand and slapped Su Tianwen across the face.

The crisp sound left everyone stunned.

To slap Su Tianwen in front of everyone was akin to grinding his face into the dirt.

“Difficult for you? You’re not significant enough to even inconvenience me. I’m just informing you—take your Su Family dogs and get out now. Bark again, and you’ll pay the price!”

Xu Shaochen jabbed a finger at Su Tianwen’s nose, speaking each word with cold precision, leaving no doubt of his disdain.

Watching his father take the hit, Su Zhaoming clenched his teeth in anger and almost stepped forward to curse Xu Shaochen, but in the end, he held back.

What restrained him? Without a doubt, it was fear.

Feeling the stinging pain on his face, Su Tianwen took several moments before he recovered from the shock. He hadn’t expected Xu Shaochen to hit him.

“Xu Shaochen! You’ve gone too far! Do you really think the Su Family will just sit quietly while you do this?”

Su Tianwen screamed hysterically, his face contorting with rage.

Xu Shaochen completely ignored him and turned to Chen Gu: “Proceed as planned. I want to see if anyone dares step out of line today.”

If the Su Family were truly so powerful, Su Tianwen would have turned and left after that slap to plot his revenge instead of rampaging helplessly here.

And so, Su Tianwen and his group were left standing there, watching the guests come and go, unable to do anything.

They had arrived full of bluster and bravado, but now they found themselves in an awkward situation.

Every member of the Su Family turned their eyes to Su Tianwen, waiting for him to make a decision.

Su Tianwen’s expression kept shifting. He glanced at Chen Gu, then at Xu Shaochen, before finally forcing out the words:

    “We’re leaving.”

As the words fell, Su Tianwen turned to depart, his face so dark it could practically drip water.

Leaving now was humiliating, but staying would have been even worse.

He had prepared meticulously to humiliate the Chen family today, but in the end, he hadn’t been able to execute a single part of his plan. Instead, he had humiliated himself.

“Dad, are we really just going to let this go?”

Su Zhaoming asked, unwilling to accept it. Just thinking about Xu Shaochen’s arrogant face made his blood boil.

“Let it go? How could we possibly let it go?”

Su Tianwen answered coldly. The feud between the Su and Chen families could never be resolved so easily.

Su Zhaoming asked, puzzled: “But what about that Xu brat…”

“I don’t believe Xu Shaochen can stay in Jingcheng forever. He might protect the Chen family now, but can he protect them for life?”

“It’s just a shame we missed such a great opportunity to humiliate the Chen family. But now that the old man’s gone, it’s only a matter of time before we crush them.”

Su Tianwen interrupted Su Zhaoming and a dark look flashed in his eyes. He was determined to destroy the Chen family.

    As for Xu Shaochen.

Even though he had just been slapped, Su Tianwen didn’t think of seeking revenge at all.

He knew the difference between the Su Family and the Xu Family was insurmountable. They weren’t even on the same level.

And he had neither the capital nor the appetite to challenge Xu Shaochen.

Su Zhaoming, still worried, asked: “What if we destroy the Chen family while he’s away, and then Xu Shaochen returns to cause us trouble?”

“Haha, he’s not blood-related to the Chen family. He’s only helping them because of that 30% stake. If we eliminate the Chen family, I’ll offer him 50%. Do you think he’ll still come after us?”

Su Zhaoming’s eyes lit up at his father’s words. He thought his father was truly brilliant.
