Chapter Index

“Kid, you can eat carelessly, but you can’t speak carelessly. Which eye of yours saw me forcing her?”

The scarred middle-aged man sneered and touched the woman’s face in his arms. “Did I force you?”

“Xiaoyu, don’t be afraid. Tell the truth. My Big Brother will definitely stand up for you!”

“Yes, Xiaoyu, with my Big Brother here, there’s nothing to fear. Didn’t that bastard hit you in the face?”

The three of them looked at the young woman, all encouraging her to speak the truth.

Xiaoyu’s gaze flickered, and she stammered, “I… I came here to work of my own free will.”

“You were the ones who wanted me, the ones trying to take me to the hotel to play around. When I refused, you beat me. The injury on my face was caused by you.”

“You got so angry you tried to gang up on me right there in the Private Room. Luckily, Brother Scar came in time to save me.”

Boom! The three of them looked as if they’d been struck by lightning, staring at Xiaoyu in disbelief.

“You… how could you say that?”

They couldn’t believe that after they risked their lives to save her, nearly losing their hands, Xiaoyu was now turning the blame on them.

Xiaoyu pressed her lips tightly together and said nothing. Better them than her. If she told the truth, Brother Scar definitely wouldn’t let her off.

Even though her lie would hurt those three, it was better than getting herself into trouble.

She was just a regular person. She didn’t know what the Chen Family represented in Jingcheng, otherwise, she definitely wouldn’t have spoken like that.

Xu Shaochen and Chen Ju shook their heads. Too young. People need to experience the harshness of the world to grow.

Tonight’s events would probably be the most important lesson of their lives, teaching them to tell white lotus flowers apart from green tea girls.

“Hahaha, Young Master Chen, did you hear that? All this trouble was caused by your three brothers. Five million should be enough for mental damages to calm Xiaoyu down, don’t you think?”

The scarred middle-aged man laughed triumphantly, looking at Chen Ju with satisfaction while his hand brazenly moved inside Xiaoyu’s clothes.

He sneered inwardly. Five million was just the start. How could he not bleed the Chen Family dry when the opportunity presented itself?

“Just five million? That’s not too much. The money’s already here. But I’m afraid you won’t be able to spend it,” Xu Shaochen said lightly.

Brother Scar narrowed his eyes and looked at Xu Shaochen. “And who are you supposed to be?”

“Me? Just a nobody, a reluctant friend of Chen Ju,” Xu Shaochen smiled faintly, lowering his estimation of Brother Scar.

Brother Scar sneered, “If you know you’re a nobody, then shut up.”

Then, after a pause, he laughed. “But I’d be happy to answer your earlier question. If it’s money, there’s none I can’t spend.”

“Long Yi, give the money to Brother Scar,” Xu Shaochen ordered.

Long Yi stepped forward and threw a bag onto the ground.

Brother Scar frowned. Why was the bag so small? Could it really contain five million in cash?

“Maybe it’s in USDs,” one of his lackeys saw the confusion and reminded him.

Brother Scar nodded in relief. “Go on, open it and check.”

A lackey stepped forward and opened the bag. The moment he saw inside, he froze.

It was filled to the brim with Hell Money, each bill worth at least one hundred thousand.

“What’s wrong? Not USDs? Euros, then?”

    Brother Scar asked.

The lackey finally reacted, nervously glancing at Brother Scar. “Boss, it’s Hell Money.”

Brother Scar’s face darkened instantly as he glared at Chen Ju. “Chen, are you messing with me?”

Immediately, his lackeys, all with menacing looks, blocked the entrance, glaring at Chen Ju.

“Yes, I’m messing with you. Who do you think you are? Just a thug, really. Who gave you the guts to touch a member of my Chen Family? Who gave you the guts to threaten us? Pathetic!”

Chen Ju glared at him coldly, filled with disdain and mockery.

“Kid, how dare you talk to our boss like that. Are you looking to die?”

“Say it again, I dare you!”

    “Boss, let’s just kill him!”

Brother Scar’s lackeys immediately started shouting, eager to kill Chen Ju.

“Fine! Since that’s how you want to play it, someone, chop off those three wastes’ right hands!”

Brother Scar shouted angrily, his gaze cold as he stared at Chen Ju with both provocation and amusement.

    “Yes, boss.”

Several people drew knives and approached.

    “Big Brother, help! Help us!”

    “Big Brother, please, save us!”

The three of them were terrified, screaming and struggling on the floor.

    “You dare!”

Chen Ju’s eyes widened with rage, his heart filled with panic. Damn it, where are they?

“Why wouldn’t I dare? Chop them!” Brother Scar shouted.

    “Thud, thud, thud, thud…”

At that moment, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed as heavily armed police officers burst in.

“Freeze! Everyone, get down and put your hands on your head!”

    “Don’t move! Nobody move!”

“Boss, the police are here! You’ve got to go!”

The entire bar descended into chaos.

“Damn it, Chen! Just you wait!”

Brother Scar cursed through clenched teeth as he prepared to slip out the back, helped by his lackeys.

He didn’t expect the business his boss had set up for him to fall apart so quickly.

Xu Shaochen saw him trying to escape, picked up a glass shard from the ground, and flung it.

    “Swoosh—”

The shard cut through the air, whistling as it pierced Brother Scar’s ankle.

    “Ah!”

Brother Scar screamed in agony and fell to the ground, immediately subdued by two police officers.

He shot a venomous glare at Xu Shaochen, his hatred and rage almost palpable.

Soon enough, Brother Scar and all his lackeys were arrested.

“Young Master Chen, are you okay?”

The police chief hurried over to Chen Ju.

“If you’d come any later, who knows,” Chen Ju replied emotionlessly.

The police chief’s face turned pale, and he stood there, speechless, anxiety churning inside him.

Xiaoyu watched from the sidelines, her face flickering with a trace of regret.

If she had known how powerful those idiots’ families were, she wouldn’t have lied and blamed them.

Maybe she could’ve even hitched herself to a rich guy and become a wealthy lady. Now she’d really lost out.

In the end, the police took everyone away.

As Brother Scar passed by Xu Shaochen and Chen Ju, he cast them a cold look, mouthing silently: Remember this, I’ll get you for this.

Xu Shaochen frowned. Where did Brother Scar get the confidence he’d ever see daylight again?

“Are you guys okay?” Chen Ju asked his three cousins.

“Big Brother, Young Master Xu, we’re really sorry. It was our stupidity that caused you all this trouble.”

The three of them bowed deeply in apology, shaking their heads to show they were unhurt.
