Chapter 814: Can’t Feel Right Without Courting Trouble
by xennovelThe lunch was hosted by Chen Ju.
The location was set at the most luxurious Private Room in Jingcheng Grand Hotel, Private Room No. 1.
Zhao Li, Liang Huan, Sun Shang, Li Qianya, Deng Tianwen, and Hou Xiaoyan were all present.
As for Tang Silin, it was unlikely they’d see her before she boarded her flight tomorrow.
Private Room No. 1, the most luxurious room in the Jingcheng Grand Hotel, was more like a small banquet hall than a Private Room.
A row of tall, pretty, and sweet-smiling waitresses stood around, pouring wine and peeling shrimp. They handled everything except eating.
In other words, guests only needed to eat. The rest was taken care of.
Since there wasn’t any confidential business being discussed today, the waitresses weren’t dismissed.
“Young Master Xu, I offer you a toast. I wish you success in all your endeavors in Mg Country. May everything go smoothly for you.”
Chen Ju led the toast to Xu Shaochen. Xu Shaochen had briefly mentioned his purpose in traveling to Mg Country, so Chen Ju knew what to say.
“Please.”
“Everyone, feel at ease, don’t hold back. Young Master Chen is treating today. We’re going all out!”
Xu Shaochen laughed as he raised his glass. As he stood up, everyone else followed suit, raising their glasses.
Li Qianya and Xie Wei were seated on either side of Xu Shaochen. One wore a red dress, the other a light blue one. Both dresses were strapless, giving them an elegant and graceful appearance.
Only Xu Shaochen knew… that elegance and grace were for the public. The other parts, well, were for his eyes only.
They were the kind of women who were both ‘ladies in the streets, and wild in the sheets.’
Ahem, ahem… some things just don’t need to be shared with others.
Knock, knock, knock…
At that moment, the door to the Private Room was knocked on, and a waitress carrying a bottle of red wine walked in.
“Excuse me, may I know which of you is Mr. Xu Shaochen?”
The waitress looked around, her voice soft, with that ever-present sweet smile on her face.
In these times, everything’s about service with a smile. If anyone dared show a customer attitude, one complaint would cost them their job.
“That would be me.”
Xu Shaochen set down his glass and nodded towards the waitress.
She walked up cautiously and respectfully said, “Mr. Xu, this red wine is a gift from Private Room No. 3. Would you like it opened now?”
It’s standard procedure. Before opening any wine, they ask for confirmation. If the bottle is opened without consent and the customer refuses it, the waitress would have to pay for it herself.
A bottle could cost anywhere from a few thousand to tens of thousands. That’s a burden far beyond what these waitresses could bear.
“Who sent it? What’s their name?”
Xu Shaochen furrowed his brow and asked.
The waitress smiled slightly and replied, “It was sent by Young Master Su Zhaoming. He also mentioned that he knows you’re flying to Mg Country tomorrow and wanted to wish you an enjoyable last day in Jingcheng.”
Chen Ju’s face darkened. Su Zhaoming’s words carried a double meaning. They were aimed both at Xu Shaochen and at him.
It was essentially telling him that although Xu Shaochen might protect the Chen Family for a time, he couldn’t safeguard them forever.
“Give me the bottle.”
Xu Shaochen said to the waitress.
The waitress hesitated, then carefully handed the bottle over.
Taking the bottle, Xu Shaochen threw it onto the floor.
Smash!
The bottle shattered instantly, and the wine spilled all over.
“Ah!”
The waitress gasped in shock. This bottle was worth tens of thousands, yet Xu Shaochen had just smashed it.
“Pick up the pieces and send them back to him. Tell him if he doesn’t behave, the Su Family will end up just like this bottle—shattered into pieces.”
Xu Shaochen’s tone was calm as he spoke. Then he turned to Chen Ju and the others, “Let’s continue. Eat, drink, and don’t let some attention-seeking small fry spoil our appetites.”
The waitress bent down and carefully wrapped the shards in the cloth that had been covering the wine. She gave Xu Shaochen a bow and then left the room.
…………
Private Room No. 3.
“Zhaoming, Xu Shaochen is about to leave. Why bother provoking him now?”
“Yeah, Zhaoming, Uncle said not to stir up trouble with him. If something goes wrong…”
Several Su Family members looked at Su Zhaoming with frowns, displeased with his actions.
Su Zhaoming smiled nonchalantly and said, “When did I provoke him? I just sent a bottle of wine to see him off. This was clearly a goodwill gesture.”
The others sighed helplessly, choosing not to say anything more.
Creak—
The door to the room opened, and everyone instinctively looked over.
“Did he accept the wine?”
Seeing the waitress enter, Su Zhaoming asked.
The waitress shook her head and cautiously replied, “Mr. Xu smashed the wine and told me to return the shards to you. He also said…”
“What else did he say?” Su Zhaoming asked.
The waitress glanced at him, took a deep breath, and summoned her courage, “He also said, if you don’t behave, the Su Family will end up like that bottle—completely shattered.”
After delivering the message, she quickly lowered her head, trembling in fear that Su Zhaoming might take his anger out on her.
“Heh, that’s Young Master Xu for you. With the Xu Corporation behind him, he certainly talks with a lot of confidence.”
Su Zhaoming sneered. His words dripped with sarcasm, implying that without the Xu Corporation, Xu Shaochen wouldn’t be anything.
None of the others spoke. They thought Su Zhaoming was going overboard.
The waitress didn’t dare make a sound and lowered her head even more, as if she wanted to bury her face in her chest.
“You guys keep eating. I’m going to offer Young Master Xu a toast. Since he didn’t accept the wine I sent, he’ll at least drink a toast, right?”
With that, Su Zhaoming stood up, feeling slightly humiliated and eager to regain face.
“Zhaoming!”
The others’ faces changed as they tried to stop him with their eyes, pleading with him not to do anything rash.
“Relax, I’m just offering a toast. I know my limits. It’s not like I can physically do anything to him in my current state.”
Su Zhaoming laughed at himself and walked out with his wine glass.
The others exchanged looks.
“What should we do?”
“What else? We follow him. We can’t let him cause more trouble than we can handle.”
With that, they, too, picked up their glasses and followed.
If Su Zhaoming weren’t part of the Su Family, they wouldn’t care about what he did.
But Su Zhaoming wasn’t just any random Su Family member; he was Su Tianwen’s son. Whatever he did would affect them too, so they had to keep an eye on him.
After all, whatever Su Zhaoming did wouldn’t only be his burden. The entire Su Family would have to bear the consequences.
Unless, of course, the Su Family decided to abandon him. But that wasn’t going to happen.
