Chapter 821: The First Encounter with Jenny
by xennovelA moment later.
Along with two white bodyguards, Xu Shaochen and the others arrived next to a convoy made up of three Rolls-Royces and four Mercedes.
A small flag fluttered on one of the cars, with a black background and a simple golden dragon emblem. This was the symbol of Xu Corporation’s headquarters.
This kind of display was not seen domestically, as the environment in China was usually less tolerant towards overly organized business forces. Hence, the Xu Corporation operated discreetly within the country.
But things were different abroad. Overseas, vehicles with flags like these could drive wherever they pleased. Even if there were orders from above, traffic officers would typically turn a blind eye to the Xu Corporation’s convoy.
That’s because overseas, in developed countries, money was everything. In war-torn nations, it was all about power. Coincidentally, the Xu Corporation had both.
That’s why China really is a harmonious, civilized, and prosperous society. You wouldn’t understand the peace and stability of the motherland unless you left the country.
“Everyone, please take the last two cars.”
The two bodyguards directed Xie Wei, Sun Hai, Chen Dongqiu, Tang Silin, Li Qianya, and Long Yi to board the last two Rolls-Royces.
Then they opened the door of the first Rolls-Royce for Xu Shaochen.
Xu Shaochen saw a silver high heel, then he bent down and climbed into the car. A fragrant scent instantly filled the air.
Xu Shaochen raised his head. In front of him was a delicate, fair face with exotic features that made his heart skip a beat.
Bright, large eyes, a high nose bridge, rosy lips, and a head of sensuous golden hair—all these features tugged at his heartstrings.
“Get any closer and you’ll be touching my lips. Want to try tasting my lipstick tonight?”
After a moment, Jenny spoke flatly.
Xu Shaochen gave a sheepish smile and obediently sat opposite Jenny, finally giving himself the chance to fully take her in.
Jenny had a stunning figure, tall and elegant. She wore a black one-shoulder evening gown. Her chest was accentuated by a prominent curve, and the high slit in her dress revealed long, slender legs, wrapped in black stockings. Paired with her silver high heels, she looked even more enchanting.
“Auntie, did you dress up so beautifully tonight just to pick me up?”
Xu Shaochen retracted his gaze and looked at Jenny, grinning.
You can’t just stare at a woman for too long, or she’ll definitely get annoyed.
Jenny chuckled, “You’re overthinking it. I have a reception to attend tonight, and you, the true heir of Xu Corporation, will be accompanying me.”
“Why didn’t you let me know earlier? I’m not dressed for the occasion, and this casual outfit doesn’t match your style.”
Xu Shaochen glanced down at his casual clothes and sighed helplessly.
“It’s just a private reception. No need to fuss over attire. Otherwise, I would’ve already had a brand new suit prepared for you.”
Jenny’s tone was calm, her aura hard to pin down—professional, yet undeniably seductive.
Though it was their first time meeting, there was no awkwardness in the conversation, likely because they had talked on the phone frequently.
“How’s my island coming along?” Xu Shaochen asked.
Jenny rolled her eyes, “Dear, are you planning to research atomic bombs there? Those lab requirements are ridiculously high.”
“What I’m working on will make more money than atomic bombs.” Xu Shaochen said mysteriously.
Jenny chuckled lightly, her response nonchalant: “Of course, researching atomic bombs only drains money.”
Xu Shaochen said nothing, as even he wasn’t sure what he would eventually produce.
“Auntie, tell me sometime how you came to be adopted by my grandfather.”
Xu Shaochen smoothly changed the subject.
“We’ve arrived.”
Jenny suddenly spoke as the car came to a stop.
Xu Shaochen was momentarily surprised, not expecting to arrive so quickly.
“What are you standing there for? Haven’t you learned any gentlemanly manners? Or do you expect me, as a woman, to open the door for you?”
Jenny looked at Xu Shaochen with a playful smile, but there was a teasing edge to it.
“It’s all Auntie’s fault for being so beautiful, I lost my composure. Normally, I’m much quicker.”
Xu Shaochen sighed, then stepped out of the car, opened the door, and placed one hand on the car roof to assist Jenny as she stepped out.
“Where… are my friends?”
It was only then that Xu Shaochen realized the two Rolls-Royces carrying Xie Wei and the others hadn’t followed.
“They’ve been taken to the hotel. But really, you’re concerned about those three women, aren’t you?”
As Jenny spoke, she naturally hooked her arm around Xu Shaochen’s and headed toward the manor, where the sounds of chatter were already audible.
“Auntie, you’ve misunderstood me…”
“Linda mentioned that you can go multiple rounds with several women in one night. Impressive, indeed.”
Before Xu Shaochen could finish, Jenny interrupted him.
The meaning was clear: Don’t try to trick me. I know exactly what kind of person you are.
Xu Shaochen was at a loss for words, mentally gritting his teeth at Linda. He would definitely have to educate her when he got back.
“Miss Jenny, please come in.”
Jenny’s face alone was her best pass. The manor’s guards respectfully opened the gate, not daring to stop her.
The reception was being held on the lawn outside. It was indeed a private event, and at first glance, the guests were all foreigners, most of them in their twenties and thirties.
As Jenny made her entrance, everyone’s eyes were immediately drawn to her—or rather, to Xu Shaochen, who was by her side.
They were all surprised. This was the first time they’d ever seen a man in close proximity to Jenny.
After all, Jenny was the type of woman who wouldn’t even dance with men. Given her status, no one dared to insist otherwise if she didn’t want to.
People would often remark that she was too conservative, attributing it to her upbringing under the strict rules of traditional Chinese values.
Yet, these did little to diminish the number of men madly pursuing her.
Xu Shaochen suddenly became the number one enemy of several men present.
After all, seeing a man cosy up to the woman they had been chasing would make anyone furious.
“Hey Jenny, care to introduce the little guy next to you?”
A tall, handsome young man walked over, pointing at Xu Shaochen as he spoke.
“Friend.”
Jenny was succinct. Dragon bloodlines were too complicated to explain clearly, and she didn’t want to confuse these people.
If she hadn’t been raised by Xu Shaochen’s grandfather, she might not even have understood the intricate Chinese family hierarchy herself.
“Boyfriend?”
The young man pressed further.
Jenny’s expression remained calm. Speaking evenly, she said, “Jack, if that’s what you want to think, I don’t mind.”
Gasp! In an instant, the entire crowd was in an uproar.
Though many had already guessed, that’s all they were—guesses.
Now that they heard Jenny confirm it herself, everyone was in disbelief.
