Chapter Index

    “Good day, President.”

As Jenny entered the conference room, everyone stood up and greeted her.

It was customary. Rules must be followed.

Of course, a few older men remained seated, unmoved, for they had the privilege.

Most, however, had their eyes fixed on Xu Shaochen behind Jenny.

Everyone knew that today, he was the main focus.

They had all heard of his existence, but seeing him for the first time felt somewhat surreal.

Xu Shaochen noticed a familiar face in the room—Barron.

Barron smiled and nodded at him.

Xu Shaochen returned the nod with a smile, feeling a bit guilty, knowing he had tricked him with a fake jade.

“Please take your seats. Allow me to introduce the man beside me, my father’s designated heir, Xu Shaochen, the future true leader of Xu Corporation.”

Jenny moved to the front, motioning for everyone to sit, then introduced Xu Shaochen without delay.

    “Clap, clap, clap—”

The crowd applauded, welcoming Xu Shaochen.

After all, everyone knew that Xu Shaochen now held absolute control over the company, and no one was harboring unrealistic daydreams anymore.

Yet, many still weren’t pleased with him.

After all, just when some thought they had a chance to seize Xu Corporation’s assets, Xu Shaochen suddenly secured Barron’s shares, attaining absolute control. Some people were bound to feel resentful.

    For instance, this man.

An elderly man stood up, looking at Jenny. “Jenny, may I ask a few questions of our future leader?”

Everyone turned their eyes on him, wearing mixed expressions.

Jenny frowned slightly, giving a calm smile. “Of course.”

The elderly man nodded and turned to Xu Shaochen. “You probably don’t know me. Let me introduce myself briefly. You can call me Peter. I was a devoted supporter of your grandfather.”

Xu Shaochen smiled and nodded, indicating that he was listening.

Though he knew Peter didn’t come with good intentions, Xu Shaochen still had to maintain basic decorum.

“I’ve always considered Xu Corporation a part of my life, and I believe many others feel the same. Now, I’d like to ask, how do you plan to manage what essentially belongs to all of us?”

“Frankly, you seem far too young. I can’t trust your abilities.”

Peter looked at Xu Shaochen boldly, questioning his ability to lead Xu Corporation forward.

It was Peter who had initially sent an assassin to kill Xu Shaochen, giving him an option.

The offer was 10 billion yuan if Xu Shaochen would relinquish his position as heir of Xu Corporation.

Unexpectedly, the assassin vanished without a trace, most likely dead.

Everyone was watching Xu Shaochen, waiting to see how he’d deal with Peter, this old rogue.

Xu Shaochen chuckled lightly and said in a calm tone, “Mr. Peter, I think you may be misunderstanding something. Why do I need to earn your trust? After all, my inheritance of Xu Corporation doesn’t require your approval, does it?”

Sorry, but playing the age card won’t work here. I’m not one to fall for that.

Peter’s face stiffened. With a neck rigid with anger, he barked, “I was one of the founding members of Xu Corporation! I have shares!”

“Indeed, you were one of my grandfather’s original partners, and you earned your keep. As you said, you received shares in Xu Corporation. You reap what you sow. However, that doesn’t give you the right to cause turmoil here. Your doubts have no impact on my inheritance of Xu Corporation.”

Xu Shaochen spoke calmly, exuding the authority of someone with absolute control. The company my grandfather handed down is mine to rule. You just need to follow and work.

    “You…”

Peter’s face turned pale then flushed red with anger, making people worry he’d pass out right then and there.

    “Bang!”

A blond, blue-eyed young man slammed the table angrily, glaring at Xu Shaochen. “What do you mean by that? Are you dismissing the contributions of all the founding members? You’re not fit to lead Xu Corporation!”

This young man was Peter’s grandson, Peter Jr. His father had died in a car accident.

    “Bang!”

Without hesitation, Xu Shaochen grabbed a cup from someone’s desk and hurled it at him.

    “Crash!”

The glass shattered against Peter Jr.’s head, fragments flying everywhere.

    “Ah!”

Peter Jr. screamed, instinctively stepping back while clutching his face.

“Who do you think you are? Do you really have the right to speak here? And never interrupt me when I’m talking. Trust me, you’ll benefit greatly by learning that lesson for life.”

Xu Shaochen’s cold gaze swept across the room as he declared, “That advice goes for anyone plotting something similarly foolish too.”

“Shit! You dared to assault a company executive during a meeting! Damn you! How could the boss choose someone like you to inherit his legacy? You’re unfit!”

Seeing his grandson get struck, Peter was furious, his anger boiling over as he cursed fluently in Chinese.

“Oh? I’m not allowed to hit him?”

Xu Shaochen sneered, glancing at Peter Jr. “I pay to keep the dogs as guards. But instead of guarding, they bare their teeth at the master? You tell me, should I not discipline such dogs?”

“You… called us dogs!” Peter was nearly bursting with rage.

Xu Shaochen shrugged disdainfully. “You said that, not me. Don’t pin that on me.”

Internally, though, Xu Shaochen smirked. Calling you a dog is flattering, at least dogs don’t try to bite the young master before he’s fully grown after the old master dies.

Peter looked around the room, but everyone else kept their heads down, pretending not to see the scene unfolding.

To the others, Peter was bringing it all on himself.

The power struggle had long been settled, so why cause unnecessary trouble at his age?

“Peter, if I were you, I’d sit down quietly for the rest of the meeting, or perhaps excuse myself, citing poor health.”

Barron grinned at Peter with a schadenfreude-laden expression, clearly enjoying his misery.

“Screw you! Shut your damn mouth!”

Peter’s gaze was murderous as he glared at Barron.

If it hadn’t been for this fool handing over his shares to that brat, the situation wouldn’t be like this now. Barron, however, just shrugged indifferently.

After all, he already got what he wanted. As for what others lost, what did that have to do with him?
