Chapter Index

“Thank you, Young Master Xu. This is really a lot of trouble. Apart from you, I don’t know who else to turn to.”

Chen Dongqiu pressed his palms together and repeatedly thanked Xu Shaochen, showing clear signs of gratitude.

Judging from Xu Shaochen’s earlier expression while thinking, it was clear he already had plans for tomorrow.

Anything concerning Xu Shaochen was definitely important business, maybe even those deals worth tens of billions in a few minutes.

That Xu Shaochen specifically took time out of his afternoon for his matter left Chen Dongqiu both nervous and excited.

“No need to be so polite. You’ve always handled things I ask of you well. Naturally, I’ll help you with your affairs too.”

Xu Shaochen said calmly. If he didn’t help out, Chen Dongqiu might think differently, which wouldn’t be good.

“Brother Xu, I just contacted my friend. He said he’s not in New York at the moment but will be back the day after tomorrow. I’ll arrange for the two of you to meet then.”

Sun Hai said to Xu Shaochen.

“Sure, sure, that’s quite a bother for Brother Sun.” Xu Shaochen nodded. He highly valued this city planner.

A ready-made team with the ability to plan the development of an entire city—such a talent is top-tier.

Soon, the dishes arrived one by one, and as they ate, they continued their conversation.

It took an hour to finish the meal.

Afterwards, Xu Shaochen followed them back to the hotel.

Xu Shaochen sat on the sofa, with Li Qianya and Xie Wei cuddled up on either side.

Tang Silin frowned to show her disapproval, but it didn’t change anything.

“Xu Shaochen, when will you take us to see your house? I’m really curious about what the home of the world’s richest man looks like.”

Li Qianya leaned against Xu Shaochen, her big eyes sparkling with eager anticipation as she spoke.

Even the frowning Tang Silin couldn’t help but look at Xu Shaochen with her interest piqued.

After all, everyone has a sense of curiosity.

“I’m also the world’s richest man. I’ll take you to Jiangzhou another day to see my house.” Xu Shaochen said.

Li Qianya nonchalantly rolled her eyes. “I want to see your grandfather’s house, where he built his empire from scratch, not yours, which you just took over.”

Xu Shaochen gave a wry smile. “In a few days, I’ll arrange a meal with my aunt. You can both meet, and we’ll go from there.”

“Alright, but tell me, is your aunt pretty? Yesterday, she was in the car the whole time, and we didn’t get to see her.”

Li Qianya, who had barely managed to suppress her curiosity for a moment, was now back to gossip mode.

Xu Shaochen pulled out his phone, found a photo he’d taken earlier in the office, and handed it to her. “Here, take a look for yourself.”

“A foreigner? How come your aunt is white?”

    Li Qianya exclaimed in disbelief.

Xu Shaochen rolled his eyes. “She was adopted by my grandfather here. We’re not related by blood.”

Li Qianya and Xie Wei exchanged a look, clearly focused on the important detail: no blood relation.

Tang Silin apparently thought of the same thing and scoffed. “What a womanizer.”

“You too have been… Letting me sow my seeds, so what does that make you? A broodmare?” Xu Shaochen retorted, looking at her.

Tang Silin’s face turned red. “Get lost.”

    “Ding ding ding…”

Xu Shaochen’s phone rang. He picked it up and saw it was Li Anjie calling, so he answered.

“Xu Shaochen, guess what! I just passed the interview! I’ve successfully joined Xu Corporation, hahaha…”

Li Anjie sounded ecstatic from the other end of the line, his tone brimming with a sense of pride.

“Really? Congratulations! I heard Xu Corporation has pretty high hiring standards.”

Of course, Xu Shaochen knew the real story, but he played along, pretending to be surprised.

“Yeah, I guess it’s tough for ordinary people, but for me, it’s no big deal. When I get promoted to management, I’ll arrange a job for you too.”

Li Anjie said smugly, exuding an overwhelming sense of superiority and bursting with confidence.

“Haha, alright, then I’ll trouble you in advance.”

Xu Shaochen chuckled. Oh boy, he didn’t have the heart to break the harsh reality to this kid. Even if you become a manager, you’d still be working for me.

“I think the interviewer seemed to like me a lot. I’m planning to invite him to dinner tonight. You should come too and use the opportunity to make a good impression on him.”

Li Anjie said, feeling so smug that it was like he’d just downed a cold bottle of Sprite on a steamy July day.

“Hmph, Xu Shaochen, you used to be the top student in class, right?”

“How’s that working out now? Out in the real world, being book-smart isn’t everything, huh?”

“In the end, you still need someone like me, right? Tsk tsk.”

Thinking about how Xu Shaochen would have to warmly toast and pour wine for him tonight, Li Anjie couldn’t wait for dinner.

“Fine, just call me tonight, and I’ll be there.”

Xu Shaochen agreed. He couldn’t be bothered to care about Li Anjie’s dramatic mental theater. After exchanging a few more words, they hung up.

“Isn’t Xu Corporation your company? Do we really need to rely on him to get you a job?”

Li Qianya had heard the entire conversation and was confused, struggling to make sense of the logic.

    “Well, it’s like this…”

Xu Shaochen explained the whole situation.

“Pfft—ha ha ha ha! This is hilarious. If he ever finds out you’re the boss, I wonder what his reaction will be.”

Li Qianya couldn’t stop laughing. Her completely unrestrained laughter made her look like a lunatic.

Xie Wei and Tang Silin also struggled to hold back their laughter. The whole thing was going to be extraordinarily awkward.

Xu Shaochen tossed his phone aside and reached out to undo Li Qianya’s dress. “That’s why, for the sake of his fragile ego, I didn’t let him know. It’s a good deed done anonymously.”

“Ah, stop it. Sister Silin and Weiwei are still here.”

Li Qianya blushed and tightly held Xu Shaochen’s hand to prevent him from going further. Her face turned bright red in shyness.

“What’s the big deal? It’s not like they haven’t seen this before. We’re one big family, after all.”

Xu Shaochen quipped with a mischievous smile, pinning Li Qianya onto the sofa.

    “Ugh, shameless.”

Tang Silin scoffed, her face flushed, before heading back to the bedroom.

Xie Wei, also blushing, hurried to close the living room curtains before retreating to the bedroom.

“Now, there’s just the two of us. Move your hand.”

Xu Shaochen couldn’t help but feel that Xie Wei was just too thoughtful, even closing the curtains for them.

Unlike that heartless Tang Silin, who ruined his innocence, then turned around and acted like she didn’t know him, treating him coldly every day.

Their hotel was by the sea, and the room offered a perfect view of the ocean. The seawater surged and receded rhythmically. Various boats bobbed along the waves like leaves, fluctuating between raging and calm. The smaller boats seemed like they might capsize at any moment…
