Chapter Index

“Mr. Xu, is there any specific building that must be included on your island?”

Song Shicheng asked, checking if there were any essential structures besides the regular buildings of a city.

Xu Shaochen nodded and said, “A giant castle. It must be built at the highest point of the city. Of course, docks and an airport are a must as well.”

“Please continue, Mr. Xu.” Song Shicheng gestured politely, intending to listen to all the employer’s plans, then organize them, and create a proposal that aligns with the employer’s vision after a site visit.

Xu Shaochen said, “My vision is for the island to be well organized. Residential areas should be separate from commercial and industrial zones. Everything should be distinct, and significant portions of the vegetation must be preserved.”

“An amusement park, zoo, even an aquarium, hotels, schools, hospitals, supermarkets, cinemas, and shopping centers. All the facilities you’d find in a modern city, they all must be included.”

Xu Shaochen wouldn’t invite any outside investors, so all the construction would be his responsibility, as well as the operations afterward.

“Oh, and the residential areas need to be divided into three categories: villas, high-end apartments, and regular housing districts. You can decide the proportions of each.”

Xu Shaochen added that these three categories would cater to the wealthy, middle class, and ordinary people, respectively.

The island had to continue developing, which meant it couldn’t just be for the rich. Otherwise, who would fill all the jobs on the island?

“There should also be a military camp on the island, mainly for training security personnel. After all, the island is prone to pirates. Without our security force, the safety of the residents can’t be guaranteed.”

Hearing this, Song Shicheng and Lu Yuanwei couldn’t help but smile bitterly. “Training security personnel”? You’re clearly planning to build a private army.

They could imagine the island becoming Xu Shaochen’s personal kingdom, as everything on the island, including the businesses, would be owned by him.

And the Xu Corporation had money—a lot of it. That money would continually flow into the island for its development and construction.

At that point, the ‘security personnel’ would probably turn into a formidable fighting force, at least enough for Xu Shaochen to purchase gunboats…

Abroad, as long as you had money, buying tanks wasn’t even a problem.

The two of them really wanted to ask, “Big Brother, are you planning to be a king?” If so, wouldn’t Xu Shaochen become the sole ruler of the island?

Now, they couldn’t help feeling a little envious. If they ever got rich, they’d want to do the same.

“Alright, Mr. Xu, rest assured, I’ll do my best to meet your requirements. Once the plan is finalized, it will meet your expectations.”

Song Shicheng took a deep breath, steadying himself as his worldview continuously shifted, then he looked at Xu Shaochen.

“I’m counting on you. Talking about money is crude but practical. Once it’s done, I won’t disappoint you.”

With that, their conversation rounded off. Xu Shaochen stood up, shook Song Shicheng’s hand, and prepared to leave.

“Um… Mr. Xu, I don’t need any money. How about this… could you leave me a house on the island?”

Song Shicheng awkwardly scratched his head, imagining the fierce competition to buy homes on the island. After all, the world wasn’t short of rich people.

The standard residential districts’ prices would definitely be capped by Xu Shaochen; after all, a large workforce was needed.

But the price for high-end apartments and villas would surely skyrocket, driven up by those who were so rich they had nothing left but money.

For someone like him, who made a living through his craftsmanship, getting an apartment or villa on the island might be quite difficult.

    “Of course.”

Xu Shaochen smiled warmly. To the people of China, the idea of buying houses had long been ingrained in their bones.

The Chinese loved buying property more than anything else.

    “Mr. Xu, I…”

Lu Yuanwei rubbed his hands together, looking at him expectantly.

    “You too.” Xu Shaochen said.

Not only Lu Yuanwei and Song Shicheng—Xu Shaochen gave everyone involved in the project certain privileges, like priority access or discounts when purchasing property on the island.

Once the houses were officially up for sale, the workers could buy them earlier, in a pre-sale.

This would surely boost the workers’ enthusiasm. After all, the faster the work was finished, the sooner they could buy homes.

“Mr. Xu, how about giving this project a name?”

Song Shicheng asked. His gut told him that this project would make waves across the world, becoming a global sensation.

Setting everything else aside, the island was bound to become a tourist hotspot, where tourism alone would rake in huge amounts of cash every year.

Xu Shaochen paused for a moment, thought, and then smiled, saying, “Paradise Construction Project.”

He thought of the island as a paradise, at least it would be his own personal paradise.

    “It’s a great name.”

    Song Shicheng sincerely praised.

Paradise, huh? It really would be paradise. Rich or poor, the island’s residents would live in comfort.

Since Xu Shaochen wasn’t short on money, it wasn’t hard to imagine that the regular residents would enjoy benefits that far exceeded those of the outside world.

Meanwhile, the wealthy would also live more comfortably. So really, why not call it paradise?

Song Shicheng and Lu Yuanwei saw Xu Shaochen and Sun Hai out of the Starbucks.

Initially, Xu Shaochen had offered to take them out for lunch, but they declined, explaining that they needed to take care of personal matters before getting started as soon as possible.

“Once this project is completed, we’ll be famous, no doubt about it.”

Lu Yuanwei said to Song Shicheng, his eyes filled with excitement.

They cared more about fame than wealth.

“Not just famous in the industry, but worldwide.”

Song Shicheng corrected him, brimming with confidence.

    Meanwhile…

“Little brother, do you think you could get me a villa on the island too?”

Sun Hai chuckled. At first, he hadn’t thought much about it, but now it seemed obvious.

If he didn’t act quickly, he might not be able to buy one, even if he had the money.

“Sure, no problem, Brother Sun. But keep this to yourself. Otherwise, I’ll be in for a headache.”

Xu Shaochen nodded and reminded Sun Hai, or else, if this got out, his phone would be ringing off the hook.

A bunch of people would be calling to reserve houses in advance. After all, none of these wealthy individuals were stupid. They saw this as an opportunity to form connections.

To them, connections were the key to making money.

Some of them couldn’t get a meeting before, but now just by buying a house, they could live next door and bump into each other frequently. Why wouldn’t they want that?

Sun Hai made plans with Chen Dongqiu to hang out, while Xu Shaochen went to the company to find Jenny.
