Chapter Index

Chen Qian’s son is named Chen Feng.

He was born in Mg Country but holds Chinese nationality.

According to Chen Qian, he works in Mg Country only because he can earn more money there and have a better work environment.

But none of these reasons are enough for him to give up his Chinese identity. No matter what, both he and his descendants’ ID cards will always say they are Chinese.

Yes, that’s something better than what many people do.

Chen Feng and Peter Jr. are around the same age. Because their fathers are both high-level executives at Xu Corporation, they met at a company gathering.

Chen Feng, heavily influenced by the free-spirited education of Mg Country, is not exactly a good person. Peter Jr. isn’t a decent guy either.

So, they quickly became friends. Seeking thrills like petty larceny, illegal street racing, chasing girls, even getting locked up – they did all of that together.

    Their relationship is pretty good.

So, it’s really easy for Chen Feng to get Peter Jr. to talk. Just a few drinks, and Peter Jr. would even tell you what color his underwear is tonight.

“Peter, last time you told me your grandfather was planning to leak Xu Corporation’s new drug formula. I think you were just bluffing. That’s impossible.”

Chen Feng looked at the drunken Peter Jr., patted him on the shoulder, and said with disdain, using a provocation tactic.

“Bluffing? No way!” Seeing that Chen Feng didn’t believe him and even looked down on him, Peter Jr. got angry: “Chen, what gives you the right to say it’s impossible? My grandpa has the power!”

“Sure, your grandpa is a shareholder, a veteran with a lot of power. But come on, everyone knows Xu Corporation’s R&D department is completely independent. How could your grandpa get the formula? Peter, you’re just bragging in front of me.”

“Relax. I won’t mind, because you’re always bragging about impossible things to me, aren’t you?”

Chen Feng sneered, completely dismissing him. He knew Peter Jr. fell for this routine every time.

The more you look down on him, the more he feels the need to prove you wrong.

Peter Jr., now a little tipsy, burped and smiled proudly: “You don’t know this, but there’s a team leader in the R&D department who was hired last year… and he’s… he’s my grandfather’s student from back in the day. So tell me… what’s impossible about that?”

“Really? Peter Jr., I wouldn’t have guessed! Your grandpa’s students must be all over the world, huh?” Chen Feng feigned surprise and poured another drink for Peter Jr., eyeing him suspiciously: “But even if he’s your grandpa’s student, he wouldn’t ruin his future over something like this, would he?”

“Of course, he wouldn’t. But my grandpa… he gave him a million USDs, a full million! You know that advancing in the R&D department is super tough. This guy probably wouldn’t earn a million in his whole life.”

Peter Jr. held up a finger and, after speaking, downed the drink Chen Feng had poured.

In the R&D department, the only way to get promoted and earn more is to have real skill, like achieving major breakthroughs in research. The company wouldn’t just promote you, they’d also give you a big bonus.

But that’s incredibly difficult, which is why Peter Jr. said that his grandfather’s student might never earn a million USDs in his lifetime.

Chen Feng casually asked, “What’s that guy’s name?”

“How would I know? He’s my grandpa’s student, not mine.” Peter Jr. shrugged, then slumped over the table and fell into a deep sleep.

    “Peter? Peter Jr.? You there?”

Chen Feng tried shaking him and called out a few times. Seeing that there was no response, he left the private room and sent the details of their conversation to his father.

After sending the message, Chen Feng settled the bill, got Peter Jr. a room at a hotel, instructed the staff to look after him, and then left.

Peter Jr. slept until the evening. When he woke up, his head was throbbing. Looking around, he realized he was lying in a hotel bed.

The first thing he did was check his butt. No pain. He sighed in relief.

    Thankfully, he wasn’t assaulted.

This kind of thing happens way too often abroad, which always makes him feel on edge.

Then, he remembered the drinking session with Chen Feng. His face changed, and he quickly took out his phone and called him.

“Hello, Peter! You’re awake! Man, you’re heavy. It took so much effort to get you into the car!”

When the call connected, Chen Feng’s complaining voice came through. In reality, Chen Feng had just made the bar staff load Peter Jr. into the car.

“Chen, did I say anything… anything sensitive while I was drunk?”

Peter Jr. asked. He vaguely remembered saying something but wasn’t sure if he was right.

“Of course you did, brother! You admitted you’ve been eyeing CEO Jenny for ages. Don’t worry; I won’t tell anyone. And honestly, she’s a real knockout, so it’s not weird. I figure any guy would feel the same way about her.”

Chen Feng was great at lying and making things up.

“Damn it! That’s not what I meant… well, fine. Chen, you better not let that slip. I’ve got a headache. I’m hanging up now.”

Peter Jr. cursed, then quickly hung up the call. But inside, he was relieved.

At least, from Chen Feng’s tone, he didn’t sense that anything unusual had happened. So, he figured he didn’t spill anything important.

Otherwise, knowing how spineless Chen Feng is, he probably wouldn’t have dared answer the phone. Let alone joke around with him.

    …………

    Meanwhile.

Xu Shaochen arrived at a hotel, accompanied by Chen Dongqiu and a group of men, for a meeting.

The shipment that had been seized from Chen Dongqiu was taken by a different smuggler in Mg Country, someone with significant power and a bit of a standing in the broader society.

The hotel they were meeting at was chosen by Xu Shaochen. He wouldn’t meet at the other party’s location because that would be too risky.

After arriving at the private room they had reserved beforehand, they found it empty.

“Sir, would you like me to serve the food now?”

    The waiter asked.

“No, we’re still waiting for others. You can leave for now.”

Chen Dongqiu glanced at Xu Shaochen, and after seeing him shake his head, he waved the waiter away.

“You should be ready to bleed because there’s no way they’ll return the shipment without taking something in return.”

Xu Shaochen said, glancing at his watch. There was less than 10 minutes until the agreed time.

“Don’t worry, Xu. I’m fully prepared for that.” Chen Dongqiu nodded in understanding.

    “Creak—”

Soon, the door to the private room opened, and two men walked in.

When Xu Shaochen saw one of them, his expression changed, and he immediately stood up from his chair, blurting out:

    “Scarface!”
