Chapter 846: I Won’t Pretend to Be Fake
by xennovelThe young man’s gaze flickered slightly as he spoke with difficulty: “I… I don’t know what I did wrong.”
He was still clinging to a sliver of hope in his heart.
“Bang!”
Xu Shaochen stomped hard on his fingers, grinding them repeatedly.
“Aaaagh!”
The young man let out a piercing scream, his face turning pale, twisting in agony.
Jenny furrowed her delicate brows. She had only been with Xu Shaochen for a few days, but it was the first time she’d seen such a ruthless, cold-blooded side of him.
“I’ll give you one more chance to think carefully. Do you understand why you’re here?”
Xu Shaochen asked coldly.
“I… I don’t know! I really don’t!”
The young man cried desperately, still stubbornly refusing to confess.
“Idiot. Do you think I’d bother confronting you if I didn’t already have proof?”
Xu Shaochen shot him a contemptuous glance, then kicked him, sending him flying two meters: “You’re Peter’s student. He gave you 10 million USDs, and you promised to steal the new drug formula for him, didn’t you?”
The young man felt as if he’d been struck by lightning. His last shred of hope vanished.
But his strong survival instinct made him deny it reflexively.
“No! I didn’t! It’s a misunderstanding! I was framed, CEO! I really didn’t do it!”
The young man scrambled over to Jenny’s desk, begging pathetically, snot and tears flowing down his face.
“You won’t admit it? Then your fate will be to get tossed into the sea as fish food. Forget about prison time.”
Xu Shaochen grabbed his hair and yanked him back, glaring icily at him.
The young man trembled, his pleas growing weaker until he finally fell silent.
He was terrified.
Even after receiving that 10 million USDs, he hadn’t dared to spend a cent.
If he died here, what good would all that money do?
He believed Xu Corporation was capable of such a thing.
During his time in the research department, he’d heard enough stories about senior researchers who vanished after trying to escape with company secrets.
Where had those people gone? He didn’t believe for a second they’d been sent on an all-expenses-paid world tour.
“I’ll give you another option. You can not only live, but live well, go back to your country as a rich man, and rise above the others.”
Looking at the young man, whose body had stiffened with fear, Xu Shaochen offered him a glimmer of hope.
The young man’s eyes lit up instantly, staring at Xu Shaochen with intense longing.
Xu Shaochen smiled and let him go: “I bet you’re also afraid Peter will turn on you after the deal. So you’ve kept some evidence of the transaction, right?”
The young man instinctively nodded along with Xu Shaochen’s words. He did indeed have evidence—recordings, and even videos.
Better safe than sorry.
After all, sneaking around and recording things was something the Stick Nation excelled at. Xu Shaochen had seen plenty of such… ahem, never mind, let’s not go there.
“Good. Hand over your evidence, identify Peter at the meeting, and I’ll let you go. I’ll even make sure you’re safely sent back to the Stick Nation, with some money and a new identity.”
“No! I won’t! He’ll kill me! He won’t let me go!”
The young man screamed, his eyes filled with terror.
“If you don’t agree, I’ll just kill you here and now.”
Xu Shaochen stated coldly, his murderous intent clear.
The young man fell silent as his body trembled uncontrollably, but he was visibly calmer.
“Once you identify him, do you think I’ll let him have a chance to retaliate? He won’t be able to come after you, trust me.”
Xu Shaochen’s intimidation was working; now he was moving in with a psychological ploy.
The young man swallowed nervously, then nodded.
“Exactly. This is a win-win situation. Why not go for it?”
Xu Shaochen patted his face with a smile before standing up and asking Jenny, “Do you have a handkerchief?”
Jenny handed him the handkerchief she usually carried.
Xu Shaochen took it and began wiping the blood from the young man’s face.
“What the hell?! What are you doing?!”
Jenny shouted angrily when she saw this. She hadn’t expected Xu Shaochen to use her handkerchief to clean off another man’s blood.
“I’ll wash it and return it,” Xu Shaochen said.
“Sorry, but I have a cleanliness obsession,” Jenny said curtly.
“Well then, consider it a gift to me,” Xu Shaochen chuckled.
Jenny was speechless. Was this an unsolicited gift?
“Alright, Aunt. Gather everyone for a meeting. The sooner we deal with this, the better. The longer we drag it out, the more likely his courage fades. Soon he won’t even have the guts to identify Peter, no matter how much money we give him.”
After wiping his hands clean, Xu Shaochen folded the handkerchief and tucked it into his pocket.
Watching his actions, Jenny felt a strange sensation inside as she picked up the phone and instructed the secretary to arrange the meeting.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
After hanging up, Jenny felt a bit uneasy, as if Xu Shaochen’s gaze could see through her clothes.
“There’s only the two of you here. Who else should I look at? It’s much nicer to look at you.”
“Thanks for the compliment, but no thanks. I’ve heard it too many times.”
Jenny raised her chin slightly, like a proud peacock. She was truly beautiful—with a great figure and undeniable grace.
To be honest, every time she took a bath, she admired her own body in the mirror, wondering which lucky jerk would get to enjoy it someday.
“Compliment? I don’t fake compliments. I’m just stating facts.”
Xu Shaochen said matter-of-factly. Flattering women? That was a skill he’d mastered back in kindergarten when he sweet-talked his female classmates out of their lollipops.
“Pfft—”
Jenny burst into a smile. At that moment, Xu Shaochen thought even the flowers on his desk paled in comparison to her. This woman was the true beauty.
But not all foreign women carried themselves with such grace. Jenny had it because she was brought up by Xu Shaochen’s grandfather and heavily influenced by Chinese culture.
Meanwhile, the young man knelt on the ground, trembling.
He felt like he might have stumbled upon something taboo. Weren’t these two supposed to be relatives?
Even if they weren’t blood-related, they were still family. Did this situation seem like it was heading in the direction of a forbidden romance in front of him?
They weren’t even trying to hide it. Was this a setup to kill and silence him after witnessing it?
