Chapter Index

    Half an hour later.

    In the large conference room.

Everyone who received the meeting notice had already arrived.

“Peter, do you know what this is about? Didn’t we just finish a meeting?”

An elderly man looked at Old Peter and asked.

“How would I know? Maybe our president has some new crazy idea.”

Old Peter said sarcastically, completely unaware that danger was steadily approaching.

The elderly man, seeing Old Peter’s sarcastic tone, no longer wished to continue the conversation.

Everyone was curious about why there was a sudden meeting. Did something major happen?

Soon, Jenny and Xu Shaochen entered the conference room.

    “Hello, President.”

Everyone stood up to greet them.

    “Please, have a seat.”

Jenny raised her hand, signaling everyone to sit down, then looked around the room and said, “I’m sure you’re all curious as to why I called this emergency meeting. Soon, you’ll know the answer.”

Everyone unconsciously sat up straight, a sense of unease creeping into their hearts. Something big was definitely going to happen.

“Everyone, for many years, Xu Corporation has been at the forefront of salaries and welfare benefits in our industry. Is there anywhere we’ve treated you unfairly?”

    Jenny asked.

Everyone exchanged glances, unable to understand why Jenny would suddenly ask such a question.

“President, no. As you said, the Corporation’s treatment of us has always been the best among our peers. That’s why so many people want to join us.”

Ultimate sycophant Chen Qian stood up without hesitation to express his support. He alone knew what was going to happen today, as he was one of its orchestrators.

“That’s right. President, as Chen Qian said, the company has never treated us badly.”

“That’s true. Without Xu Corporation, I would never have had the chance to realize my dreams.”

With the first person speaking up, others of similar rank to Chen Qian quickly echoed their support.

The actual senior management, however, remained silent, carefully observing the situation.

“Good. Since that’s the case, why is it that among those present, someone has been colluding with outsiders, harming the company’s interests? To be honest, this pains me greatly.”

Jenny’s eyes suddenly sharpened, and her voice turned cold, exuding an air of frost.

Whoa! As soon as her words fell, the conference room erupted in an uproar.

Even the top executives could not remain calm, looking at Jenny in disbelief.

Peter Jr. glanced nervously at Old Peter.

Old Peter glared at him fiercely, signaling him to stay calm and not panic. Stay steady.

Since he believed his actions hadn’t been exposed, he felt it was crucial not to lose composure now.

    “Jenny, can you confirm this?”

An elder stood up, his face so dark it looked as if he was about to erupt like a volcano.

The most furious were these veterans of the company, who had dedicated their youth to building it. In return, the company supported them in their old age—it was a mutually beneficial relationship.

Internal competition, be it overt or covert, was just an internal matter.

But if someone was colluding with outsiders and hurting the company’s interests, that affected all their interests as well—and that was intolerable.

“I wouldn’t make unfounded claims in such matters.”

Jenny’s tone was calm, indicating she had solid evidence.

    “Who is it?!”

Old Peter, pretending to be outraged, slammed the table, his fists clenched, his chest heaving up and down.

Everyone else looked at Jenny, starting to form their own suspicions about who the culprit could be.

Jenny gave a light chuckle and looked at Old Peter, saying, “Uncle Peter, why are you so angry? Isn’t that person you?”

Boom! The conference room exploded into chaos.

    “It’s Peter?! That… that’s impossible.”

    “How could it be him?”

Everyone was in disbelief. Their first reaction was to refuse to believe Peter could do something like this.

“Jenny, are you sure you’re not mistaken? While Peter may have issues with you, he couldn’t have done this.”

“Right. He’s a shareholder. Doing something like this would hurt his own interests.”

Several of the elders spoke up in defense of Peter.

“Uncles, what if he stands to gain something even greater than his current shares?” Jenny asked rhetorically. She, of course, didn’t know what the Johnson Family had promised Peter, but it must have been very valuable.

    “Hahaha…”

Old Peter burst into laughter, his voice filled with bitterness and anger. “My old friends, do you see this? Xu Corporation is no longer the Xu Corporation of the past. The youngsters now find us old folks an eyesore and want to kick us out.”

His implication was that he was being framed, and that today it was him, but tomorrow it could be any one of the others. He was trying to pull the other elders onto his side.

In reality, he was deeply shocked. How on earth had this matter been leaked?

“Enough with the act. If you really want to put on a show, after you hand over your shares and roll out of the company, feel free to try Hollywood. With your acting skills, winning an Oscar might just be a matter of time.”

Xu Shaochen said mockingly, then nodded toward the bodyguards at the door.

The bodyguards turned and exited, bringing in a young man from Stick Nation.

“Old Peter, do you recognize him? I’m sure you won’t find him a stranger,” Xu Shaochen asked Peter.

The moment Old Peter saw the young man, his face paled, fluctuating between expressions. “Who’s he? I have no idea who this person is. What’s the meaning of bringing him in here?”

“Teacher, you’re the one who made me do it, you can’t deny it now,” the young man said, looking at Old Peter.

Everyone else looked suspiciously at Old Peter. After all, unless you were blind, you could clearly see that Old Peter’s emotions were unstable as soon as the young man walked in.

And more importantly, Peter Jr. was now pale and drenched in sweat, which definitely wasn’t normal.

“Any more excuses?” Xu Shaochen asked.

Old Peter sneered, “You have a saying in China: If you want to frame someone, you’ll always find a pretext. That’s exactly my situation now.”

“Sigh. It really seems like you won’t admit it until the evidence is laid out in front of you. I was hoping to leave you a bit of dignity, but it seems that’s no longer necessary.”

Xu Shaochen finished speaking, pulling out a USB drive and holding it up for everyone to see. “Ladies and gentlemen, please look at the big screen. Let’s see how this so-called veteran of our company has betrayed the company’s interests and, in turn, the interests of everyone here.”

After finishing, Xu Shaochen gave Old Peter a small smile. “Your student gave this to me. Care to guess what’s inside?”

Old Peter’s face darkened as black as coal.
