Chapter Index

“Hmph! How should I know what’s inside?”

When Old Peter said this, he seemed confident on the surface, but his palms were already sweating secretly.

Because he knew, since Xu Shaochen could produce that USB drive, it surely contained evidence against him.

However, even knowing that, there was nothing he could do.

There was no way he could just give up and boldly admit to everything.

At this point, everyone could tell Old Peter was just being stubborn, like a dead duck’s beak refusing to let go.

Several older veterans had complicated expressions on their faces. After all, they had fought together once.

The company had grown over the years, and it had been fair to them.

But now that their old comrade had committed such betrayal, it made them both angry and sad.

“You don’t know either?” Xu Shaochen smiled mockingly, “Coincidentally, neither do I. So let’s play it for everyone to see.”

As he spoke, he handed the USB drive to the secretary responsible for recording the meeting.

The secretary began playing the contents of the USB on the big screen.

Soon, the clear images of Old Peter and a young man appeared on the big screen.

“Teacher, no! I can’t do this. If I do, I’ll be ruined!”

“Ten million USDs. You’d never earn that in your lifetime. You must understand, some opportunities won’t come again. Steal the formula for the new drug. As long as you agree, the money will be in your account tomorrow.”

Wow! Many had just speculated before, but seeing the evidence firsthand was something else. The meeting room erupted in shock.

“Slander! This is shameless slander! I demand this video be examined. It’s fabricated! They must have used tricks to fake it!”

Old Peter roared wildly, waving his hands frantically, trying to shut off the big screen.

This scene made him appear both despicable and pitiful in the eyes of everyone present.

“Mr. Peter Jr., you’ve reached a point where you can’t save him. You’re still young, with a bright future ahead. Surely you don’t want to bury yourself with him?”

Xu Shaochen ignored the mad Old Peter and fixed his gaze on Peter Jr., his voice carrying some persuasion.

Peter Jr.’s face fluctuated, standing there uncertain, deep in thought.

“In our China, we have a saying: Confession brings leniency, resistance brings severity. I’m sure everyone here understands that. Peter Jr., don’t you agree?”

“This matter is unrelated to you, isn’t it? But how can you prove that it has nothing to do with you? I believe you know what to do. Be brave. You’re ensuring a future for yourself.”

Xu Shaochen continued to intimidate, coax, and pressure Peter Jr.

Covered in sweat, Peter Jr. glanced at his grandfather, then clenched his teeth and said, “Yes, I testify. Everything on the video is real. I know about these things, but it was all his doing.”

“Fuck! Shit! You damned bastard! What are you talking about?”

Old Peter was livid. He hadn’t expected his own grandson to sell him out completely, at a time when he still had a chance to struggle.

“Grandfather, he’s right. You’re old, but I’m still young. I have to live on. I have to live well.”

Peter Jr. spoke heavily, as if every word he uttered was immensely difficult, weighed down by immense psychological pressure.

After all, this was his own grandfather.

“Alright, the situation is clear now. I announce that, from today, Old Peter is dismissed from the positions of company director and general manager, and his shares will be reclaimed. Any objections?”

Xu Shaochen looked around the room, tapping the table to settle everyone down before speaking calmly.

Not a single person spoke, which was as good as silent agreement.

After all, Old Peter had triggered the wrath of everyone here this time. He had threatened the interests of everyone present.

These people were all enjoying the shade under the towering tree of Xu Corporation.

If the tree fell, they’d be exposed to the blazing sun. Either they’d have to find another tree, or they’d get scorched.

    Nobody wanted that.

So, all their conflicts took place under the precondition that the tree would not fall.

But Old Peter had tried to chop that tree down, which was absolutely intolerable.

“Mr. Peter, sign this and you can leave. Don’t think about resisting. You should know that you have no chance of reversing the situation anymore.”

Xu Shaochen threw the contract he’d prepared in advance on the desk, along with a pen.

A camera was set up nearby to record everything, in case Old Peter later claimed he had been coerced into signing.

Old Peter let out a desperate sigh. With a trembling hand, he picked up the pen, as if it weighed a thousand pounds.

    Finally, he signed his name.

The moment he wrote the last letter, it was as though all the strength had drained from his body, and he collapsed on the ground, eyes vacant.

“Someone, Mr. Peter isn’t in a good emotional state. To prevent him from doing anything drastic, send him to the R&D department for careful care. Once he’s calmed down, he can leave.”

Xu Shaochen said casually. Everyone knew this so-called care was really just detention.

Two bodyguards approached, forcibly dragging Old Peter out of the office.

“Gentlemen, today’s incident has deeply saddened me. If my grandfather were still alive, I can’t imagine how he would face this.”

“All of you present here are my seniors, once the trusted generals of my grandfather. I don’t want to see such a regretful incident happen again. Keep this in mind.”

Xu Shaochen looked at everyone, speaking in a heavy tone, his gaze as sharp as a knife, making it impossible to look him in the eye.

“Additionally, I hope today’s matter remains within this meeting room. I don’t want to hear about any employees discussing it. Otherwise, I will hold them accountable.”

Hearing that, everyone instantly straightened up, their backs stiffening, and their eyes looking forward.

Right now, everyone feared Xu Shaochen. No one dared to take his words lightly.

After all, hadn’t Old Peter just been dealt with moments ago?

Soon, the meeting was adjourned, and everyone left one after another.

    “Peter Jr., stay a moment.”

Just as Peter Jr. was about to nervously step out of the meeting room, Xu Shaochen suddenly called out to him.

Peter Jr.’s face instantly turned pale. He turned around slowly, stammering, “What… what else… is there?”

Damn it, I knew I wouldn’t get off that easily.

But what fate awaits me now?

Will I lose my position and be kicked out of the company?

As long as I’m not sent to prison.

Or worse, sent straight to hell.

Then, that would already be good enough.
