Chapter Index

Watching the silhouette of the young man with gold-rimmed glasses leaving.

All the interviewees quietly breathed a sigh of relief, immensely thankful that they hadn’t joined in mocking Xu Shaochen.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t just be the young man with gold-rimmed glasses leaving now.

Of course, they could tell that the young man with gold-rimmed glasses wasn’t sincere. After all, Chen Yu Company’s benefits were really too good, enough to tempt anyone.

However, they were also a bit pleased, as that young man with gold-rimmed glasses was indeed a strong competitor.

Now that he’s gone, it means one less source of pressure for the remaining candidates.

    “Alright, let’s continue the interview.”

Xu Shaochen looked at everyone, said this, and then entered the office with Liu Rushuang.

The interviews continued until noon, by which time all candidates had been interviewed, and most of the company’s management positions were settled.

The remaining employee recruitment and interviews were naturally handed over to the newly appointed HR Manager.

Xu Shaochen also asked the business department to acquire a five-star hotel in a short period of time.

Although his primary focus in the food and beverage industry was the mid-tier market, the high-end market also had to be covered. He wanted to make a five-star hotel the flagship of Chen Yu’s food business.

“Ah, I’m exhausted. Treat me to a meal.”

Liu Rushuang stretched lazily and looked at Xu Shaochen beside her, saying this. She was really tired over the past two days.

Even though she was on vacation, she was still working for Xu Shaochen, without even asking for a salary.

“Honey, be good. I’ll treat you to dinner tonight. I have something to attend to this afternoon.”

Xu Shaochen kissed Liu Rushuang on the face, speaking softly to her.

“Aah! You jerk, taking advantage of me again. Go to hell! Tonight, I’m going to make you pay.”

Liu Rushuang was first stunned, then her originally fair face instantly turned as red as an apple. She quickly grabbed her bag and ran off.

Watching Liu Rushuang’s back, Xu Shaochen smiled and then dialed the phone numbers of Mei Liangxin and the lawyer Linda had arranged for him, agreeing to meet them at a hot pot restaurant across from Chen Yu Company.

    “Welcome, sir.”

As he walked into the hot pot restaurant, the hostess at the entrance quickly greeted him.

    “Are there any available tables?”

Xu Shaochen frowned as he looked at the packed hot pot restaurant. He had chosen this place because he saw it was popular and wanted to try it out, but he didn’t expect it to be this crowded.

“Sir, you may need to wait a moment,” a hostess said apologetically to Xu Shaochen.

“That’s fine, I’ll take a walk around first.”

Xu Shaochen waved his hand and then walked into the hot pot restaurant.

The hot pot restaurant was large, with a relatively old-fashioned décor and a lively atmosphere. It made Xu Shaochen want to roll up his sleeves and dig in.

After more than ten minutes, Xu Shaochen saw a table of guests leave, and he quickly sat down to secure the spot.

“You must be Mr. Xu, right? I’m sorry to have kept you waiting.”

He had just sat down when a middle-aged man carrying a briefcase and wearing a black suit walked over.

“Lawyer Zhang? I just arrived as well. Please, have a seat!”

Xu Shaochen made a welcoming gesture towards the middle-aged man.

    “Thank you.”

Zhang Wei nodded and sat down. Although he didn’t particularly like the noisy environment of a hot pot restaurant, he didn’t show it.

Because Xu Shaochen’s status dictated his attitude. As a top talent in the industry and a star lawyer, he was actually quite proud.

But in comparison, he was also very aware of his situation.

In front of Xu Shaochen, he had no reason to be proud, and he certainly didn’t have the guts to be.

“Waiter, could you clean up this table?”

Xu Shaochen called out to a waiter, asking her to clean up the leftovers from the previous guests.

“Sir, I’m sorry, we’re a bit busy right now. Could you wait a little longer? I’ll be right over to clean it up.”

The waiter looked at Xu Shaochen and apologized sincerely.

Xu Shaochen nodded. He was just giving a gentle reminder.

A few minutes later, Mei Liangxin finally arrived, late as usual.

“Hey! Old Xu, you guys already finished eating? Couldn’t you wait for me? That’s really not cool!”

Mei Liangxin looked at the leftovers on the table, sat down, and casually picked up a pair of chopsticks to start digging into the pot.

Xu Shaochen and Zhang Wei were both left wide-eyed, staring at Mei Liangxin in astonishment.

“Hey, what are you doing? Don’t eat that! We need to order new dishes.” Xu Shaochen was the first to come to his senses and quickly stopped Mei Liangxin.

Mei Liangxin smiled nonchalantly and said, “It’s fine, no need to order new dishes. Why be so polite? There’s still so much left in the pot, I’ll make do and eat a little.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he picked up a piece of sausage and popped it into his mouth, praising, “Hmm, it tastes really good. We have to come back here and eat again next time.”

    Xu Shaochen: “…………”

    Zhang Wei: “…………”

The two exchanged a glance, looking at Mei Liangxin with sympathetic eyes, hoping that when he learned the truth, he wouldn’t burst into tears.

“Um… Sir, should I still take the dishes away?”

The waiter came over to clean the table but was momentarily stunned when she saw Mei Liangxin enjoying his food.

“No need to take them away. Why waste so much food?”

Before Xu Shaochen could say anything, Mei Liangxin had already spoken first, looking at the waiter and shoving another piece of pork belly into his mouth, showing a blissful expression.

The waiter gasped, furrowing her brow as she watched the scene. She hesitated and then said, “But…this… this is the leftovers from the previous guests.”

    “Clatter!”

The blissful expression on Mei Liangxin’s face instantly froze, and the chopsticks in his hand fell straight to the ground.

No wonder, he had been wondering why there was only half of the sausage left…

    “Ugh—”

Realizing this, he immediately spat out the remaining meat from his mouth, looking at Xu Shaochen with a miserable expression and said, “Damn it! Why didn’t you warn me!”

“I did, but you wouldn’t listen!” Xu Shaochen spread his hands helplessly. He tried to stop him earlier, but Mei Liangxin wouldn’t listen.

Hearing this, Mei Liangxin felt a thousand horses galloping through his mind. He grabbed a glass of water and downed it to rinse his mouth.

“Uh… that glass of water was also left by the previous guests.” Xu Shaochen kindly reminded.

    “Pffft— Cough, cough, cough…!”

Mei Liangxin immediately spat out the water he had just drunk, tears welling up in his eyes as he was nearly choked by his own coughing.

He had something he desperately wanted to curse aloud. If he didn’t vent, he wouldn’t be able to rest easy today.

“Sir, can I clear the table now?” The waiter stood by, holding back her laughter, and cautiously asked.

“Clear it! Clear it all away right now! I never want to see those dishes again in my life!”

Mei Liangxin hurriedly shouted, unable to wait any longer, feeling nauseated and looking pale.
