Chapter 850: Taking Your Place? No Thanks
by xennovelPeter Jr. left with his task.
Soon, the massive conference room felt empty.
Only Xu Shaochen and Jenny were left.
“You said you wouldn’t do better than me, but I think you’re perfectly suitable to replace me.”
Jenny walked up to Xu Shaochen and spoke sincerely.
Xu Shaochen smiled, giving her a meaningful look: “Forget it. Replacing you? No thanks. I’m more suited to being on top of you.”
“Get lost!”
Jenny scolded angrily, the admiration in her eyes and her brief moment of confusion gone, replaced by speechlessness.
This guy really didn’t bother hiding his thoughts.
“Should I compliment you for being straightforward?” Jenny asked, rolling her eyes.
Xu Shaochen smiled: “Whatever, but if you give me a hug, that would be even better.”
Jenny walked over and hugged Xu Shaochen. “Is this good enough?”
What Xu Shaochen couldn’t see was the faint blush lighting up Jenny’s face, as if she enjoyed being held more than expected.
After Grandpa Xu’s death, she had been holding the company together, dealing with pressure from all sides, and handling internal problems.
She was a woman with slender shoulders, yet she bore all this weight. She was tired but had no one to rely on—so she gritted her teeth and kept on.
But now, she suddenly found Xu Shaochen ahead of her, taking on the burdens she should have carried. The feeling brought her comfort and peace.
It was as if all the tension in her vanished instantly.
“Wait a second… What’s on your head? Bird poop?”
Suddenly, Xu Shaochen pushed Jenny away, looking surprised.
“What?! Where? Quick! Help me get it off! Damn it, I have to wash my hair.”
Jenny screamed in panic, fumbling in confusion. After all, who knew how many people had seen that embarrassing scene?
“Don’t move. I’ll help wipe it off first.”
Xu Shaochen placed his hands on her shoulders.
Jenny stood still.
Then…
“Mmm~ Let me go. Mmmph~”
Suddenly, her lovely eyes widened in shock, anger, and embarrassment. Complex emotions filled her gaze as she struggled in Xu Shaochen’s arms.
Because Xu Shaochen had kissed her—and quite aggressively, at that.
Her resistance was futile. She was held tightly and couldn’t move.
Eventually, Jenny awkwardly began to respond, as this was her first kiss.
After a while, she felt short of breath. Her high heel stomped hard on Xu Shaochen’s foot.
“Damn!”
Xu Shaochen cursed without thinking and immediately let go of Jenny.
“Bastard! Go to hell!”
Jenny, humiliated and enraged, gave Xu Shaochen a fierce middle finger before storming out of the conference room.
Watching her graceful figure as she left, Xu Shaochen wiped the drool from his mouth, smiling. Yep, a kiss is always a win.
And with her being so inexperienced, it was definitely her first time. Lucky me.
Xu Shaochen felt that his grandpa had really treated him well.
He left him a ton of money and even arranged for this drop-dead gorgeous beauty with golden hair and blue eyes.
Yeah, no doubt. This was definitely his real grandpa. Otherwise, how could he have been so considerate? Humming a little tune, Xu Shaochen walked out of the conference room.
…………
The night was anything but peaceful.
Things were chaotic both in the Xu Corporation and in the outside world.
In a luxurious villa, Scarface and his brother were drinking. In front of them, on the coffee table, two naked white women swayed their bodies to entertain them.
“Big Brother, why haven’t we heard back from the people we sent to tail Xu Shaochen? Could something have happened?”
Scarface motioned for a woman to sit beside him, speaking to the Middle-aged Man with concern.
The Middle-aged Man shook his head indifferently: “It’s normal if they were found out. After all, Xu Shaochen’s bodyguards aren’t just anyone.”
He spoke nonchalantly, as if the lives of his men meant little.
“I don’t know why, but I have an uneasy feeling.”
Scarface muttered to himself. They were just a band of smugglers. Was it really a good idea to provoke the richest man in the world?
Even though Xu Shaochen was in trouble right now, if he ever had the time, he could crush them anytime.
“Relax, I’ve got it all arranged. Xu Corporation’s been targeted recently. Xu must be as restless as an ant on a hot pan. He won’t have time to deal with us.”
The Middle-aged Man smiled confidently, raising his wine glass and downing it before continuing: “Even if he does find the time, we won’t fight him directly. Worst-case scenario, we just run. I haven’t been getting by for these years for nothing.”
“Right now, he’s restricted. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to extort a fat sum from him. The authorities are after him, so he can’t rely on them to deal with us.”
“And he can’t use private militia forces to sweep us up either. If he tries, the authorities will seize the chance to make things worse for him.”
The Middle-aged Man’s analysis was thorough. He was sure there wouldn’t be any problems.
After all, this was the richest man in the world.
Once they squeezed some money from him, why continue smuggling? Wouldn’t it be better to disappear and live a carefree life?
“Tap tap tap tap…”
At that moment, someone hurried into the room.
“Why are you so flustered? Where are your manners? What happened to your discipline?”
The Middle-aged Man instantly flew into a rage, throwing his wine glass at the intruder’s head.
“Ah!”
The intruder screamed in pain, panic all over his face as he blurted, “Boss, something terrible’s happened… We just got word that several of our warehouses were raided! Many of our men were arrested, and our smuggling routes are completely cut off.”
Boom! Hearing this, the Middle-aged Man’s mind exploded as he shot up from his sofa, grabbing the man’s collar with one hand and pointing a gun to his head with the other.
“What did you say? Are you lying to me? Do you dare deceive me?!”
The lackey was terrified, covered in cold sweat, and frantically shook his head: “No… I’m not! Boss, I’d never dare lie to you. It’s the truth!”
“You f***ing liar! Still trying to talk s***!”
The Middle-aged Man cursed and without hesitation pulled the trigger.
“Bang!”
The gunshot rang out, and the lackey who brought the report was dead.
The Middle-aged Man coldly instructed the bodyguards in the room: “Damn, trying to stir up the group with false information. Feed him to the dogs.”
