Chapter 854: The Deceiving Scumbag

The next day.

Xu Shaochen was sleeping when someone shook him awake.

“What are you doing?”

Xu Shaochen groggily opened his eyes and looked at Tang Silin, who was already dressed, asking with annoyance.

Last night, I worked so hard. Do you not appreciate it? Can’t you be considerate and let me sleep a little longer?

“You said you’d take me to the island to see the lab today.”

Tang Silin said flatly.

“Well… I have plans with someone today. The place is far, and if we go, we won’t be back anytime soon. How about… tomorrow?”

Xu Shaochen said nervously, this scumbag lied to get her into bed last night.

Tang Silin’s face darkened instantly. She looked at Xu Shaochen coldly, saying nothing.

“Don’t look at me like that. You’re making me nervous.”

Xu Shaochen forced a laugh and shifted his body a little to the side.

“Go to hell, you scumbag!”

Suddenly, Tang Silin exploded with rage. She jumped on him, straddling his chest, and grabbed him by the throat.

“Cough, cough… Let go of me! I’m dying! A couple should have a hundred days’ worth of affection! You’re murdering your husband! Cough, cough…”

Xu Shaochen didn’t feel much, but he still cooperated, sticking out his tongue and pretending to be in excruciating pain.

Otherwise, he would probably suffer even more today.

“I’m telling you, we’re going tomorrow. If you dare lie to me again, I’ll cut it off while you’re asleep!”

Seeing his response, Tang Silin released her hold and threatened him before walking out of the bedroom and slamming the door behind her.

“That girl can’t defeat me yet.”

Xu Shaochen chuckled, rubbing his neck, yawning as he started to get dressed.

He’s really getting the hang of handling women now.

Even if he goes bankrupt one day, finding a rich woman to take care of him shouldn’t be hard.

All those ‘Rich Madam Happy Pills’ and ‘Rich Madam Happy Sticks’, with his physique, should be easy to handle.

Tomorrow, he has to take that girl to the lab on the island.

However, just taking Tang Silin to the island feels like a waste of time.

After thinking about it, Xu Shaochen took out his phone and called Song Shicheng: “Mr. Song, will your business be wrapped up today? I’m planning to head to the island tomorrow. If it’s convenient, you and Mr. Lu should come along since you’ll need to conduct an initial survey anyway.”

“Sure, Mr. Xu. Tomorrow works for me. But, I brought a few apprentices…”

“Bring them along,” Xu Shaochen interrupted. For a project of this size, having Song Shicheng and Lu Yuanwei’s trusted people was the most convenient.

“Thank you, Mr. Xu. Rest assured, we’re taking a flight to New York today, so we won’t delay tomorrow’s departure.”

“Alright.”

Xu Shaochen hung up the phone, got dressed, and walked out of the room.

After breakfast, Xu Shaochen went to find Chen Dongqiu and Sun Hai.

“Mr. Xu, you’re here.”

Seeing Xu Shaochen enter, the two men, who were eating breakfast, stood up and greeted him.

“Brother Sun, I’ve been busy the last two days, so I haven’t had time to accompany you. Please, don’t take it to heart. Treat this place like home.”

Xu Shaochen smiled apologetically at Sun Hai, as Sun had indeed helped him a lot.

“Brother Xu, don’t say that. You told us to make ourselves at home, so why are you being polite now?”

Sun Hai said with a grin.

“Hahaha, Brother Sun is right.” Xu Shaochen laughed heartily, then turned to Chen Dongqiu and said, “Your shipment is at the dock. You can transport it back.”

He had specifically instructed Mike about Chen Dongqiu’s goods, so it had been set aside for him.

“Thank you, Mr. Xu. Without you, my shipment would have been lost for sure. From now on, whatever you need, I’m ready to risk my life for you.”

Chen Dongqiu hadn’t expected such a huge surprise and was instantly moved, his eyes filled with gratitude and awe as he looked at Xu Shaochen.

He hadn’t expected Xu Shaochen to deal with Daoba and the others so quickly.

He could only be thankful for recognizing the situation and backing down at the right time. Otherwise, his outcome could’ve been terrible.

“Don’t make such grand promises. I don’t need you to risk your life for me. But if I ever need you, I certainly won’t hesitate to ask.”

Xu Shaochen smiled calmly, his tone composed.

Chen Dongqiu smiled and then said, “Mr. Xu, I plan to transport the shipment myself as soon as possible. Do you have time for lunch today? I’d like to invite you.”

“Sure, once you book a place, just let me know.”

Xu Shaochen nodded and agreed. He was meeting Tony in the afternoon, so his lunch was free.

Time quickly passed, and soon it was noon.

Chen Dongqiu had booked a well-known Chinese restaurant in Chinatown.

He and Sun Hai were already there waiting.

Xu Shaochen arrived with Jenny and the other three women. Long Yi and Long Er were driving, and another vehicle followed behind them.

After all, in the land of the free, where gunfights happen daily, a wealthy person wouldn’t feel safe going out without a few bodyguards.

When they arrived, they found that the restaurant was small and rather old, yet business was booming. The hall was full of customers.

As soon as the five of them walked through the door, they attracted most of the guests’ attention. Jenny, Xie Wei, Li Qianya, and Tang Silin were indeed very eye-catching.

But no one approached to chat them up, and certainly, there were no rude remarks.

Most of the patrons here were from Ch. Compatriots abroad tend to be more respectful and united.

“Excuse me, but we’re fully booked today. Would you…”

A server approached with an apologetic smile.

“We reserved a table. Room 5.”

Xu Shaochen interrupted, cutting off the server’s words.

“Oh, I see. I thought you looked unfamiliar. Right this way, I’ll take you upstairs.”

The server realized and led the way, taking the group upstairs.

A moment later, Xu Shaochen and the others arrived at a private room on the second floor, at the very end.

“Here we are, sir. I’ll be downstairs if you need anything. Just give me a call.”

The server said politely, noting the group’s expensive outfits. After all, in the service industry, it’s important to have a good eye, and this group clearly wasn’t ordinary.

Especially since they had bodyguards with them.

“Thank you.”

Xu Shaochen nodded and casually handed over a $100 tip before entering the room.

“Mr. Xu has arrived.”

“And Miss Jenny, Miss Xie, Miss Tang, Miss Li, please, take a seat over here.”

Both Chen Dongqiu and Sun Hai got up to greet them and invited the group to sit.
