Chapter Index

    Xu Shaochen had no idea.

Guo Qi was having wild dreams, trying to drag him into the Hongmen organization to use him as a moneybag.

Jenny was at work, while he was out with Xie Wei, Li Qianya, and Tang Silin, strolling through the streets of New York.

After all, they’d been here for several days, busy with their own things, and he hadn’t taken them out for a proper walk yet, which felt a bit wrong.

Li Qianya and Xie Wei appeared quite happy, cheering and giggling along the way.

Tang Silin, however, looked like she’d been dragged along forcibly, with a blank expression, as though nothing could lift her interest.

Long Yi and Long Er followed from a distance, without intruding on the group.

“Hey, why are you always wearing that dark expression? It’s like everyone owes you three to five million.”

Xu Shaochen walked over to Tang Silin, somewhat speechless as he looked at her.

“You owe me far more than three to five million.” Tang Silin spoke coldly.

Xu Shaochen quickly responded, “That’s not fair to say. Didn’t I just give you billions last night?”

“Jerk.” Tang Silin’s face turned red. She was both embarrassed and angry, raising her hand to hit Xu Shaochen.

But Xu Shaochen swiftly grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms, whispering into her ear:

“Besides, there’s more between us than just billions now. Who knows, you might even be carrying my child.”

Tang Silin’s face went pale. She bit her lip and responded, “If I am pregnant, don’t expect me to keep your child.”

“Silin, if you get pregnant and secretly abort it without telling me, don’t blame me for turning cold-hearted.” Xu Shaochen spoke calmly, his voice as still as a quiet pond without a single ripple.

Tang Silin was startled because although Xu Shaochen said it lightly, there was a chilling coldness in his tone.

“N-n-no… I’m not pregnant.” Tang Silin stammered, her body involuntarily tensing up.

Xu Shaochen’s face relaxed into a smile. He reached out to brush a strand of hair behind Tang Silin’s ear: “Relax—come on, don’t scare me like that. Be good, don’t do this again.”

“Okay.” Tang Silin meekly nodded, genuinely frightened by Xu Shaochen just now.

Recently, no matter how much she caused trouble or threw a tantrum, Xu Shaochen always responded with an infuriating grin.

But now, Tang Silin realized that all her antics had been within his tolerance range, which is why he had let her be willful.

If she ever crossed the line beyond his patience, he would undoubtedly show a different face.

“Hey, what are you two doing back there, keeping secrets from us? Come on, Sister Silin! There’s a dress here that would look perfect on you.”

Li Qianya stood at the entrance of a clothing store, calling out to Xu Shaochen and Tang Silin, easing the tension between the two.

    “Coming.”

Tang Silin responded, hurriedly pulling away from Xu Shaochen and walking quickly toward the store.

Watching her graceful figure from behind, Xu Shaochen smiled. This woman was too headstrong; she needed to understand reality.

Being willful was fine, but she must not cross the boundaries he had set. He didn’t have limitless patience for her antics.

In the end, he was just a typical male chauvinist.

They spent the entire day shopping with the women, only returning home when Li Qianya cried out that she couldn’t walk anymore.

    ……………

    Later that evening.

Xu Shaochen went to the company.

He was carrying chicken soup that Xie Wei had made for dinner.

Jenny had been working overtime these days, and Xu Shaochen often went to the office in the evenings to study and familiarize himself with the company environment.

    “Good evening, Young Master Xu.”

    “Good evening, Young Master.”

As soon as he entered the company, anyone who saw him greeted him politely.

After all, now everyone knew Xu Shaochen’s identity and had memorized his appearance.

Xu Shaochen headed to the CEO’s private elevator.

He took the elevator to the top floor and went straight to Jenny’s office.

    “Good evening, Young Master.”

The bodyguards in the hallway greeted him respectfully.

    “Here I am.”

Seeing Xu Shaochen come in, Jenny wasn’t the least bit surprised.

“Weiwei made some soup. Try it. I’ll help you handle the remaining documents.”

Xu Shaochen placed the soup on the coffee table to the left of the door and walked over.

Jenny had taken off her suit jacket, leaving only a white blouse on. It looked so tight it seemed like the buttons could pop off any second, making one worry for their safety.

    “Alright then.”

Jenny lazily stretched, her enticing figure displayed in all its glory.

Noticing Xu Shaochen’s gaze, Jenny shot him a glare before walking out of the office area.

Xu Shaochen sat down and continued looking over the documents Jenny hadn’t finished reviewing.

“Anything you can understand and decide on yourself, go ahead. If you’re unsure about something, just ask me.”

Jenny said while carefully pouring herself some soup without even lifting her head.

    “Knock, knock, knock…”

Suddenly, there was a knock at the office door.

    “Come in.”

Jenny wiped her mouth with a napkin before responding.

“President, there’s a man outside with the surname Guo. He says he’s here to see the Young Master, claiming… he’s with the Hongmen.”

    The secretary addressed Jenny.

“Do you have any dealings with Hongmen?”

    Jenny asked Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen still looked confused: “No, I’ve never interacted with them.”

“Then just send him away.” Jenny replied casually, not taking Hongmen seriously at all.

After all, to the massive Xu Corporation, Hongmen was indeed insignificant.

“Wait, have him come in. Let’s see what he wants from me.”

Xu Shaochen quickly said. He was truly curious why someone from Hongmen would look for him when he had no connection to them.

Jenny nodded to the secretary, who then left the room.

    …………

At this moment, in the lobby downstairs at Xu Corporation.

“Why do we have to come at night? Can’t we visit during the day?”

Gao Tian felt it was a bit impolite to visit someone at night in such unfamiliar circumstances.

Guo Qi shot him an annoyed look: “You don’t understand. Coming at night shows our sincerity and seriousness.”

“Give me a break. Sincerity? Just look at this company’s building. Do they look like people who would join us?”

Song Yuzhi sneered disdainfully, showing no fear or respect toward Guo Qi.

She wasn’t looking down on Hongmen, as she herself was part of it. She just had a better understanding of reality.

“Sister Yuzhi, you’re underestimating him and overestimating the Xu Corporation.”

    Guo Qi retorted, clearly dissatisfied.

Song Yuzhi shrugged: “Whatever you say.”

Soon, the secretary came out of the elevator: “Please follow me.”

“See? The fact they’re willing to meet us means they’re interested. We’re already halfway to success.”

Guo Qi said confidently, shaking his suit as if he were brimming with self-assurance.
