Chapter 868: Guo Zhenting is Doomed to Die
by xennovelAt first, Xu Shaochen thought Guo Zhenting had come because yesterday his son was beaten by him, and he was here to ask for an explanation.
Later, he found out that Guo Qi was hit by a car last night and died. Although surprised, he didn’t think it had anything to do with him.
But now, judging by Guo Zhenting’s attitude, it seemed like he was going to pin the blame on Xu.
Xu Shaochen could understand Guo Zhenting’s bad mood since he had just lost his son, but that wasn’t a reason to blame him! Xu Shaochen looked coldly at Guo Zhenting, gripping his teacup, his knuckles faintly turning white.
It was clear he was barely holding back his anger.
Guo Zhenting, as if he didn’t notice Xu’s expression, smiled and said calmly: “What? Does Mr. Xu really think you had nothing to do with my son’s death?”
“It’s not even a matter of nothing. Even if I did, he had it coming.” Xu Shaochen said firmly, staring directly at Guo Zhenting.
His patience was running thin as he considered that Guo Zhenting just lost his son.
If Guo didn’t know when to stop, then Xu wouldn’t be so forgiving.
“Even if my son deserved it, he shouldn’t have died, especially not in such a brutal way,” Guo Zhenting said coldly.
Xu Shaochen almost laughed from anger: “Oh? Then what exactly are you getting at?”
What kind of logic was this? It felt like Guo thought Xu had deliberately arranged for someone to run his son down. It was ridiculous.
“My request isn’t too much. On the day of my son’s funeral, I’d like Mr. Xu to personally step forward, burn incense, and bow at his grave to comfort his soul.”
Guo Zhenting spoke lightly, as if such a demand was perfectly reasonable.
“Clang!”
As soon as he said this, Xu Shaochen threw the teacup in his hand directly at Guo Zhenting’s face. The cup shattered instantly, leaving a lump on Guo’s forehead.
“Guo, who do you think you are? Who do you think your son is? You want me to bow to him? Is he even worthy of that?”
“Let me tell you something. I’m cutting you some slack because you just lost your son, but don’t push your luck.”
Xu Shaochen stood up, his gaze cold, every word spoken as if forcefully squeezed through his teeth, filled with a sharp warning.
Xie Wei and Li Qianya, startled by the commotion, exchanged glances before quietly slipping upstairs.
In an instant, only Xu Shaochen and Guo Zhenting remained in the large living room.
Guo Zhenting touched the lump on his forehead and chuckled. “You sure have some strength, Mr. Xu. Fine, let’s see how this plays out.”
“Threatening me? Do you believe I can have you sent straight to the funeral home as soon as you walk out the door?”
Xu Shaochen said coldly, eyes filled with open hostility.
“Of course, I believe it. That’s why I made some preparations before coming here. Over the years, I’ve nurtured a few trusted subordinates. If I die, Miss Jenny might not make it home safely tonight.”
Guo replied nonchalantly, overflowing with confidence. That was why he dared to come here alone and say these things to Xu Shaochen.
Xu Shaochen squinted slightly: “I really hate when people use my women to threaten me.”
In his mind, from the moment Guo uttered those words, his fate was sealed.
“Who would’ve thought Mr. Xu was such a man of appetite. You don’t even spare your own aunt, huh?”
Guo smirked as he spoke, his tone mild but laced with sarcasm, clearly mocking Xu.
Of course, he knew Xu and Jenny weren’t related by blood. Jenny was a pure-blooded Westerner, while Xu was Chinese. It was obvious at a glance.
But that didn’t stop Guo from using it to taunt him.
“You can leave now.”
Xu waved his hand, as though shooing away a fly.
He had no interest in wasting any more time on a man who was as good as dead.
“Mr. Xu, my son’s funeral is in two days. If you change your mind, you can still find me.”
Guo Zhenting dropped his parting words, then calmly turned and walked out of the living room at a leisurely pace.
“Someone.”
Xu Shaochen called out.
“Young Master.”
A bodyguard rushed in.
“Pass the word. Send ten cars immediately—escort Miss Jenny after work.”
As Xu gave the order, he texted Jenny, instructing her to bring whatever she needed and work from home via video calls.
He had no choice. If someone else threatened him, Xu would’ve laughed and killed them on the spot.
But Guo’s threat was too serious to ignore. After all, Guo was the deputy leader of Hongmen, second only to the police chief.
He had manpower, money, weapons, and channels. If he said something, he would stop at nothing to see it done.
So, for safety’s sake, until this threat was eliminated, the women shouldn’t leave the house.
“Yes, I’ll get right on it.”
The bodyguard replied and quickly left.
Xu sat back on the sofa. At first, he had intended to contact the leader of Hongmen.
But after thinking about it, he dismissed the idea.
If his guess was right, the leader of Hongmen was probably even more anxious than Xu and would contact him first.
All Xu needed to do was wait.
If he rushed to contact Hongmen’s leader just because of Guo Zhenting’s threat, that would be a sign of weakness.
If Guo did something stupid, Xu wouldn’t just retaliate against Guo—he’d strike back against Hongmen too, no matter the cost.
After all, Guo Zhenting was part of Hongmen.
So the Hongmen leader must’ve thought this through. He was probably already looking for Xu’s contact.
“Ring-ring-ring…”
Suddenly, Xu’s phone rang.
He looked at the number, an unfamiliar one, and smiled.
As expected, speak of the devil.
“Hello.”
Xu answered the call.
“Hello, Mr. Xu. This is Situ Wen, the leader of Hongmen.”
A deep, strong voice came from the phone.
“What is it?”
Xu’s voice was calm, without the slightest fluctuation.
“About Guo Zhenting, I’m aware of the situation. Please give me some time to persuade him, and I will make sure he visits to apologize in person.”
Situ Wen spoke humbly, knowing that Guo was in the wrong and not wanting to provoke Xu.
“One day. I want results within one day. Otherwise, I’ll handle it myself and take the results I want.”
Xu said calmly, and after speaking, decisively hung up the phone without giving Situ the chance to bargain.
Results?
Xu never intended to let Hongmen offer any so-called result. No matter what, Guo Zhenting was doomed.
The only reason he gave them a day was to save face for Hongmen.
Situ Wen definitely understood that.
If persuasion failed, Hongmen would cut ties with Guo within a day.
