Chapter Index

“Tony, this time it’s really a disaster we didn’t see coming.”

Xu Shaochen sighed and exaggerated the story about Guo Zhenting.

“That damn bastard actually threatened me with Jenny’s safety, and even said some filthy things to humiliate her.”

As for what exactly was said, that was left to Tony’s imagination.

“Fuck! Just a bunch of pathetic dogs. We gave them room to survive, and they’re still not satisfied. To think they dare target Jenny, it’s unforgivable!”

Tony appeared livid, his fists clenched tightly, veins bulging as his expression grew frighteningly cold.

“Sigh, for now, we should stay low to ensure safety. You know, I don’t care much, but it’s mainly for Jenny.”

Xu Shaochen emphasized Jenny, clearly urging Tony: Go, deal with Guo Zhenting quickly.

“Xu, we’re friends now. And friends help each other. Wait, I’ll handle this.”

Tony’s tone was cold, already on the brink of losing control.

“Really? Thank you. I’ll be sure to tell Jenny who the hero in all this is.”

Xu Shaochen wore a delighted expression, looking at Tony with visible gratitude.

Guo Zhenting, are you prepared to face the wrath of a simp?

“No trouble at all. It’s what I should do—for our friendship, and for… Jenny.”

“Xu, I’ll call you when it’s done. Maybe you’d like to see the look on that bastard’s face before he dies.”

As Tony finished, he bid farewell to Xu Shaochen, turning and quickly walking out of the living room.

“You’re using my name to manipulate them. Why do I feel like I’m a conniving bitch?”

Jenny had unknowingly appeared at the staircase. Clearly, she had been listening in on the entire conversation.

“No, Jenny, you should be more confident. It’s not that you seem like one. You really are a conniving bitch.”

Xu Shaochen shook his head, looking at her deadpan as he spoke.

    “Get lost!”

Jenny, infuriated, angrily threw whatever was in her hand at him.

See? When a woman mocks herself, if you take it seriously, you’re destined to stay single forever.

“Aunt, what’s the meaning of this? Is this a hint?”

Xu Shaochen waved the still-warm item in his hand, showing that Jenny indeed possessed a voluptuous figure.

“A hint? My ass! Give it back, you jerk!”

Jenny’s face flushed red immediately, rushing down the stairs to snatch it back.

Damn it! How did I even throw that? This is beyond embarrassing.

    ………

“Guo Zhenting, have you lost your mind? Get back here right now! Guo Qi is dead, I get it, but that’s no reason to kill yourself! Going up against Xu Shaochen is like an egg smashing into a rock!”

Over the phone, Situ Wen sounded extremely angry, practically yelling.

“Brother Situ, I haven’t lost my mind. Before, it might have been like that, but not anymore. I’m not afraid to die now.”

“Besides, the Xu Corporation is in a bad place with the authorities, and they have conflicts with the three major families too. Playing my hand now doesn’t mean I’ll lose.”

Compared to Situ Wen’s fury, Guo Zhenting was calm, speaking with clear logic.

“Guo Zhenting, you’re too naive. Do you really think the Xu Corporation, with all its power, can’t handle you? If you want to die, fine, but don’t drag Hongmen down with you!”

Situ Wen’s voice turned hoarse, clearly shouting too hard earlier.

“Sect Leader, that’s not fair. Why is it that when I risked my life for Hongmen, nobody said Hongmen was dragging me down?”

Guo Zhenting’s tone cooled, and after finishing, he directly hung up the call.

What’s he got left to fear now?

Xu Shaochen, Song Yuzhi, Gao Tian, all three of you will pay for my son’s death.

Besides, he’d investigated and learned that the Xu Corporation’s situation isn’t as glorious as it appears.

“What do you think you’re doing? Who gave you permission to come in here?”

“Hands up! Or we have the right to shoot!”

    “Stop right there…”

Right then, a commotion rang out from outside.

Guo Zhenting frowned. What’s going on? He got up and headed outside.

Right as he stepped out, he saw a group of armed police officers swarming the yard, arresting people and setting up a perimeter.

“What are you all doing? Who told you to arrest people randomly!”

Guo Zhenting was livid, demanding in a harsh tone.

    “Are you Guo Zhenting?”

A police chief approached him, speaking his name in broken Chinese.

    “That’s me.”

    Guo Zhenting nodded.

“You’re suspected of threatening the life of Miss Jenny, the current president of Xu Corporation. We’re taking you in for questioning.”

As soon as the officer finished, two police officers stepped forward to arrest him.

Guo Zhenting was dumbfounded. What kind of ridiculous law is this?

Also, wasn’t Xu Corporation supposed to be on bad terms with the authorities?

Why would the police make up such a weak excuse just to arrest him?

What the hell is going on?

It wasn’t until the police officers shoved him towards the exit that he finally snapped out of it.

“What are you doing? Let me go! You can’t arrest me, this is illegal!”

Guo Zhenting continued to struggle. Hearing their nonsense reason for arresting him, he knew that if he ended up at the station, nothing good awaited him.

After all, in a place like Mg Country, where money rules everything, anything could happen.

    “Bang!”

Before he could finish, the butt of a gun slammed into his head with no mercy.

“Ow! I’m going to file a complaint! You’re violating my human rights!”

Guo Zhenting screamed, his head spinning as he was forcefully dragged into a car.

Less than fifteen minutes later, Guo Zhenting was thrown into prison.

“Let me out! You’re violating human rights! This is an illegal arrest!”

Guo Zhenting kept shouting in his cell, hurling curses left and right.

Luckily, he was the only one there. Otherwise, he might’ve had a ‘special welcoming’ from some burly white or black inmates.

“Enough! Screaming won’t get you out of here.”

A calm voice rang out, drawing Guo Zhenting’s attention. Xu Shaochen and Tony stepped forward.

“Vice Leader Guo, it hasn’t been that long, and here we are meeting again. But, it seems like your situation has taken quite the turn for the worse.”

Xu Shaochen smiled faintly, speaking lightly as if nothing was out of the ordinary.

He couldn’t help but sigh; in Mg Country, this so-called land of freedom, the wealthy truly could do whatever they wanted.

What? You say they need a reason to arrest you?   No problem. They can make one up on the spot. If you’re not satisfied, you can even choose your own reason. How considerate is that?

This only strengthened Xu Shaochen’s resolve to relocate the headquarters.

    “It’s you!”

Seeing Xu Shaochen, Guo Zhenting was both shocked and furious.

He just couldn’t understand how on earth the authorities were helping Xu Shaochen. Weren’t they supposed to be on bad terms with the Xu Corporation?
