Chapter 871: Sun Hai Was Beaten
by xennovel“It’s me.”
Xu Shaochen nodded slightly.
“What do you want?”
Guo Zhenting stared coldly at him.
“Nothing much, I just wanted to see you one last time before you die, and to tell you—remember to be careful in your next life. Don’t die so foolishly again.”
As Xu Shaochen spoke, he pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and looked at Guo Zhenting with a mocking smile.
Making enemies with capitalists in Mg Country? Isn’t that a death wish?
“I want to know why.”
Guo Zhenting was unwilling to accept it. Why were the authorities helping Xu Shaochen?
“Tony and I are friends. Tony is the heir of the Nick Family.”
Xu Shaochen pointed to Tony, who stood silent beside him.
The Nick Family?
Guo Zhenting was even more confused. What the heck was going on? What’s the connection?
Didn’t the authorities pressure Xu Corporation because of the Nick Family, Karen Family, and Johnson Family? How did Xu Shaochen end up becoming friends with the heir of the Nick Family?
“Enough, don’t think too hard about it. The world of the rich isn’t something a poor guy like you can understand, so stop making things difficult for yourself.”
Xu Shaochen interrupted his thoughts, mocking him further with the power of money.
“Xu, even if I die, I won’t let you off!”
Guo Zhenting gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with rage and hatred as he stared at Xu Shaochen.
“You couldn’t do anything to me in life, so what makes you think I’d be scared of you as a ghost?”
Xu Shaochen laughed dismissively, as if he had just heard a joke, then flicked half of his cigarette butt directly onto Guo Zhenting.
“Well, I’m off. Enjoy your death.”
With a light remark, Xu Shaochen turned and left.
Guo Zhenting had arrived with such aggression, but within moments, he was reduced to a lamb ready for slaughter.
What did this prove? In Mg Country, no matter how powerful you are, you can’t go up against the machinery of the state, let alone those who can manipulate it.
If not for the sheer size and clout of Xu Corporation, Xu Shaochen was convinced that just the effort of the Mg Country authorities alone would have been enough to bring Xu Corporation to its knees.
“Tony, thank you. Oh, and Jenny asked me to thank you on her behalf too.”
After leaving the prison, Xu Shaochen spoke to Tony.
“Please tell Jenny that this was nothing. I’d do anything for her. And don’t let Mike’s sweet talk get to her.”
Tony seemed most concerned about Mike, his only rival in love.
“Tony, you’re putting me in a tough spot. You know I’m friends with Mike too, and I promised to help him pursue Jenny.”
Xu Shaochen sighed helplessly, furrowing his brow as if in deep conflict.
“Xu, we’re friends too. You can’t… what’s that Chinese saying? Favor one over the other.”
Tony instantly panicked. If Xu Shaochen helped Mike, Mike would always have the upper hand, leaving Tony out in the cold.
“How about this, Tony? I won’t help either of you. I don’t want to ruin our newly-built friendship.”
After a long pause, it seemed as though Xu Shaochen had made his decision after much thought.
“Xu, thank you. I have to admit, that’s the fairest way.”
Tony breathed a sigh of relief. This was actually the outcome he’d hoped for all along.
As long as Xu Shaochen wasn’t helping Mike, Tony was content. To him, that was fair.
However, Tony had no idea Xu Shaochen was playing both sides.
Watching Tony leave, Xu Shaochen prepared to visit Barron to gather more information about the jade stones.
But before doing so, he needed to make a phone call to confirm whether Barron was available.
“Hey Xu! I thought you’d completely forgotten about an old guy like me.”
When the call connected, Barron’s energetic voice came through the phone, sounding nothing like an elderly man.
“Barron, do you have time right now?”
Xu Shaochen asked, thinking to himself that if it weren’t for his trip to the Island Laboratory, he really might have forgotten about Barron altogether.
“Right now? Sorry, I’m helping my granddaughter with some community service. How about we meet somewhere instead? I’ll try to finish here within 30 minutes.”
After a moment of thought, Xu Shaochen said, “Let’s meet at the Holiday Inn in the financial district.”
He chose that venue because that’s where Sun Hai was staying.
“Alright, see you soon.”
After finishing the call, Xu Shaochen got in the car and had Long Yi head toward the Holiday Inn. On the way, he called Sun Hai several times, but no one answered.
“What’s going on?”
Xu Shaochen frowned. There’s no way Sun Hai would ignore his calls.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the hotel.
Long Yi and Long Er went to park the car, while Xu Shaochen walked into the hotel alone.
“Fuck off, you damned Chinese mongrel! How dare you insult me? You’re not welcome here, shithead!”
“Go to hell, you damned yellow-skinned monkey! Get the hell back to China, you piece of trash!”
“You bastard! Remember now how to speak to me? Mongrel…”
As soon as Xu Shaochen entered the hotel, a barrage of vulgar insults filled the air.
He frowned and saw three white men in suits viciously beating someone.
Many people were watching. The Mg Country onlookers wore amused smiles, while most of the Chinese people were seething with rage but too afraid to step in.
Suddenly, Xu Shaochen’s expression changed.
He recognized the person on the ground being beaten—it was Sun Hai. No wonder he wasn’t answering his phone.
In an instant, rage surged within him.
“You bastards, stop!”
Xu Shaochen shouted angrily. Without a second thought, he kicked one of the men, sending him flying.
“Ah!”
The man screamed in pain as he crashed heavily to the ground.
Xu Shaochen then kicked the other two men aside and helped Sun Hai to his feet. “Are you alright, Brother Sun? What happened?”
“Damn it! How dare you hit me?! Get him! Beat him to death!”
The middle-aged man who had been kicked by Xu Shaochen got back up from the ground, glaring at him with fury as he spoke through gritted teeth.
The remaining two men, hearing this, didn’t hesitate. They shouted and charged at Xu Shaochen.
“Watch out, brother!”
Someone from the crowd of Chinese people warned in a low voice.
“Courting death!”
Seeing the two men rushing toward him, Xu Shaochen’s eyes flashed coldly, and he swiftly swept his legs out.
“Ah!”
The two men screamed and were knocked to the ground.
“Oh my god, Chinese Kung Fu!”
A Mg Country guy who had never seen anything like this exclaimed in shock, and a series of amazed gasps followed.
“Good! Give those dogs who look down on us what they deserve!”
“Well done!”
The Chinese people in the crowd felt a surge of pride and began clapping and cheering.
