Chapter Index

    Situ Wen left quickly.

In an instant, the previously lively golf course was left with just Xu Shaochen.

“Mr. Xu, would you like to continue playing?”

The caddie beside him asked respectfully.

The caddie wasn’t a man, but a woman.

A woman in her twenties, looking pretty, with fair skin, and a tall, hot figure.

Her tone was soft, giving off a somewhat melting sensation when she spoke.

“Why not? They’ve all left, so I can enjoy some peace. Set up the ball, and chat with me while you’re at it,”

Xu Shaochen glanced at the woman and smiled nonchalantly.

The woman was tactful in her speech and actions. Though a bit inexperienced, she carried a sense of respect and curiosity. Clearly, she was a part-timer.

“I wonder what Mr. Xu would like to chat about?”

The woman looked surprised, completely not expecting the young billionaire to strike up a conversation with her, causing her to become nervous and reserved in an instant.

She even rehearsed the conversation multiple times in her head before speaking.

This was a normal reaction, or rather, it was impressive.

If it was someone else, they might not even have the courage to speak in front of Xu Shaochen.

    “Let’s chat about you. You’re a part-timer, right?”

Xu Shaochen asked casually while swinging the golf club in a smooth motion.

The white golf ball arched beautifully in the air and landed directly in the hole.

    “How did Mr. Xu know?”

The woman’s eyes were filled with curiosity, yet she secretly marveled. Xu Shaochen hadn’t missed a single shot today. Every ball had gone in using the same angle and technique.

    What control!

    “I used my eyes,”

Xu Shaochen responded with a smile.

The woman was momentarily speechless. After a pause, she replied, “I’m a foreign student. I work part-time here whenever I have the time to earn some living expenses.”

“Do you have a boyfriend?” Xu Shaochen suddenly asked.

The woman froze, her head lowered, gripping her hands nervously, and stepped back as she stammered, “Mr… Mr. Xu, I’m sorry. I already have a boyfriend. I love him very much. I do need the money, but I… I can’t betray him.”

Xu Shaochen almost laughed. Did she think he was trying to sleep with her by paying her?

“Do you think I’m short of women? Or more importantly, do you think… you’re worthy of me?”

Xu Shaochen looked at her seriously and asked.

The woman’s face flushed alternately between pale and red. She felt a mix of relief and frustration but, in the end, lowered her head further in embarrassment.

    Although Xu Shaochen’s words hurt.

But thinking carefully, he was right.

Who was he? How could he ever be interested in someone like her?

The tale of a prince falling in love with a commoner is just a fairy tale, not to mention Cinderella was a count’s daughter by birth.

Without that, she wouldn’t even have gotten into the ball, let alone met the prince.

Reality is like this. Some things, if you are not born with them, you’ll never have.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Xu. I was out of line.”

The woman hurriedly apologized to Xu Shaochen, clearly very nervous.

After all, if she angered Xu Shaochen, just a flick of his finger could decide her fate.

    Tap, tap, tap, tap…

At that moment, a security guard from the golf course came running in.

“Mr. Xu, someone is outside wanting to come in.”

Xu Shaochen frowned and said with displeasure, “Just get rid of him. Why are you bothering me?”

    “But… he says he’s Miss Lily’s boyfriend.”

The security guard looked troubled and glanced towards the woman next to Xu Shaochen.

The woman’s face changed, and she looked at Xu Shaochen, pleading: “Mr. Xu, if my boyfriend is in such a hurry to find me, it must be something important. Can I go see him?”

They weren’t allowed to carry phones at work to avoid disturbing the guests.

“Why make such a fuss? Let him in.”

Xu Shaochen said to the security guard.

    “Yes, Mr. Xu.”

The guard nodded and left immediately.

“Thank you, Mr. Xu. Thank you.”

Lily kept bowing to Xu Shaochen gratefully.

Xu Shaochen accepted her gratitude calmly and said lightly, “Set the ball.”

Lily quickly set another ball in place.

    “Chen Lily!”

A young man soon walked in briskly.

“He Shen, what are you doing here?”

Seeing the young man, Chen Lily’s face showed a trace of urgency, wondering if something serious had happened. Why else would He Shen come to find her here? Xu Shaochen, watching this scene, smiled playfully, pausing his swing. It looked like something interesting was about to happen.

Because he could tell that the young man called He Shen was holding back his anger, while Chen Lily, blinded by worry, hadn’t noticed.

“What? From the way you’re talking, I can’t come? Afraid I’ll get in the way of you hooking up with some rich guy? Oh, and not just some rich guy, a high-class one too. No wonder you rush here every holiday.”

He Shen sneered, glancing at Xu Shaochen and giving Chen Lily a mocking look.

Chen Lily froze, staring at He Shen in disbelief. “W-What are you talking about? Hooking up with some guy? I’m just earning money. Didn’t you say you needed a new computer? I…”

“What? Isn’t that the case? Who cares about your money? I find it disgusting!”

Before Chen Lily could finish, He Shen abruptly cut her off, gritting his teeth. “Wearing clothes that show so much skin… Have you even thought about my feelings? Then again… How else would you charm those rich guys if you didn’t dress like that?”

Chen Lily’s work uniform did accentuate her figure. The tight white T-shirt and short white skirt showcased her curvy body in every detail.

“He Shen, you’re misunderstanding me. I could never be that kind of person. Whatever you want to say, let’s talk about it when we get back. I’ll explain everything to you later.”

Misunderstood by He Shen, Chen Lily felt anger, frustration, and sorrow. Her eyes reddened, but she hesitated in arguing further, fearing that He Shen’s angry words might offend Xu Shaochen, bringing disaster upon him. She wanted to get him out of there as fast as possible.

“Misunderstanding? There’s no misunderstanding! You’re just too embarrassed to admit it now? If you dare do it, why not own up to it?”

He Shen snarled. He roughly pushed Chen Lily aside and marched up to Xu Shaochen, yelling: “She’s my girlfriend!”

    “I know, so?”

Xu Shaochen smiled faintly, asking in a calm tone, as if he found the whole scene rather amusing.

A fool, poor and self-righteous, thinking dignity was all he had left.

And a silly girl caught up in his stupidity. How had these two ended up together?

Life as a rich man could be boring, but at least today was a little more entertaining.

“You know? If you know, then why the hell are you still messing with her? What, just because you’re rich you think you’re better than everyone? Without mommy and daddy, you’re nothing! I’ll tell you this: the river changes course every thirty years. One day, I’ll be richer than you!”

Facing Xu Shaochen’s calm demeanor, He Shen felt utterly belittled. His dignity had been trampled, and in hysterics, he screamed in defiance.
