Chapter 881: Xu Shaochen is Easy to Bully
by xennovelA few people looked up.
They saw a young man holding a woman in his arms, walking over with a mocking expression aimed at Fiers.
Xu Shaochen’s face turned slightly cold.
“Jones, I suggest you back off, or I think this bottle in my hand might end up on your head.”
Mike coldly said. Jones humiliating Xu Shaochen was a slap to his face.
“Oh sorry, I didn’t notice Mike was here, and Tony too. How rude of me.”
Jones acted as if he had just seen them but his tone indicated he didn’t care at all.
“But, Young Master Mike, Young Master Tony, are you two going to interfere just because I said a few words to Fiers?”
After saying that, he looked at Xu Shaochen: “Yellow-skinned monkey… Oh, sorry, that slipped out. I meant to ask, do you think I’m right, sir?”
His eyes were full of mockery as he looked down on Xu Shaochen.
“Fuck you! Damn bastard, say that again if you dare.”
Mike instantly exploded, standing up and grabbing Jones by the collar.
“That’s enough, Mike. I think he’s actually got a point.”
Xu Shaochen stopped Mike from going further, playing with the wine glass in his hand. He looked up and smiled at Jones.
Everyone was stunned, staring at Xu Shaochen in disbelief.
It was clear they hadn’t expected him to remain calm after such an insult, even agreeing with the guy.
“As expected, Chinese people are all spineless cowards. How boring.”
Jones shrugged off Mike’s hand, shaking his head as he turned to leave.
“Can you introduce me to that guy who just left?”
Xu Shaochen asked.
“Xu, I’m sorry to have involved you. That bastard was targeting me.” Fiers looked at Xu Shaochen apologetically, then gritted his teeth: “His name is Jones. His uncle is a governor, and his family controls several businesses. We’ve never gotten along.”
Xu Shaochen smiled after hearing this and looked at Tony: “Is a governor that powerful?”
“Not really, but dealing with a governor brings too much trouble, so we just let him jump around.”
Tony replied with indifference. If he weren’t worried about causing trouble for his family, he would have slapped that jerk to death long ago.
As heirs to their families, they had to avoid unnecessary trouble. The more problems they caused, the more people would be waiting to replace them.
Jones probably understood this well, which is why he acted so recklessly yet always calculated just right.
Xu Shaochen nodded and then called the waiter over, pointing to the table where Jones sat: “Go send the most expensive bottle of wine to that gentleman, from me.”
“Xu, why are you doing this?”
Tony and the others couldn’t understand Xu Shaochen’s move at all, thinking he must be afraid of Jones.
“To drink.”
Xu Shaochen didn’t answer the question. Facing someone who was about to become a cripple, he never hesitated to show generosity.
Seeing Xu Shaochen remain silent, Mike and the others stopped asking and continued to clink glasses with him frequently.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
“Excuse me, sir. Sorry to interrupt, but that gentleman over there sent you this wine.”
The waiter interrupted Jones, who was bragging to his friends, pointing toward Xu Shaochen and handing over the wine.
“See, I told you. Chinese people are cowards, and this just proves it.”
Jones glanced at Xu Shaochen, sneering as he accepted the wine, looking at his friends with a proud face.
“Jones, I’m not sure about other Chinese people, but he’s definitely one.”
“Yeah, after being insulted, he still sent you a drink. How pathetic.”
Several of Jones’ friends began to jeer, showing complete disdain for Xu Shaochen, their words dripping with mockery.
“Hahaha, let’s taste my spoils of war, then.”
Jones laughed loudly and told the waiter to open the bottle, pouring a glass for everyone.
After the wine was poured, Jones didn’t drink immediately. Instead, he said: “Such good wine. Shouldn’t we thank our Chinese friend for it?”
“Jones, that seems like a great idea.”
Hearing this, all his friends’ eyes lit up, eagerly raising their glasses.
“Come on, let’s all thank him together.”
Jones said, then he and his friends turned to Xu Shaochen and shouted loudly: “Hey, yellow-skinned monkey, thanks for the wine! It looks like it’ll taste great!”
“Hahahahaha…”
“Xu! They’re going too far!”
Tony and the others were furious, thinking the only thing Xu Shaochen should do right now was grab a bottle and smash it over their heads.
“Alright, guys, calm down. There’s no need to get angry over a stray dog’s provocations. Stay calm.”
Xu Shaochen appeared very serene. A moment ago, there was going to be one cripple; now, it looked like there would soon be three.
“Alright, Xu, I just don’t get it.”
Tony sighed in frustration, sitting back down, unable to endure it anymore. He couldn’t believe how Xu Shaochen, the one being insulted, could remain so indifferent.
They continued chatting, and during the conversation, Xu Shaochen learned about Fiers and his group’s backgrounds.
Fiers’ family was in politics and had a grudge with Jones’ family, which explained why Jones targeted him earlier.
Jack and Kate’s families were in business and had deep connections with both the Nick and Karen families.
About an hour later, Xu Shaochen felt it was time to wrap things up for the night.
After all, he had promised Jenny he’d be home by midnight.
Besides, he still needed to make time for some personal matters before heading home.
“Mike, I think it’s about time we end it here. We can continue drinking next time, alright?”
Xu Shaochen nudged the drunken Mike.
“Y-Yeah, okay. I… I’m tired too.”
Mike stammered, slurring his speech as he struggled to stand.
In the end, it was Jack who helped him up, and the group made their way out of the bar.
“Hey, kid, don’t forget to bring me more good stuff next time. I never knew getting insulted could score me something nice.”
As they were leaving, Jones jeered at Xu Shaochen again.
Xu Shaochen turned back and flashed him a gentle smile, like a spring breeze.
“Tch, coward.”
Seeing this, Jones’ friends all scoffed together, showing even more disdain. They couldn’t believe Xu Shaochen didn’t react again, not even a hint of anger, only a smile.
Sure enough, Chinese people were spineless to the core.
“You guys owe me, drink up! I told you he wouldn’t dare fight back. He’s a total coward, through and through.”
Jones laughed with glee.
It was clear they’d placed a bet using Xu Shaochen.
And without a doubt, Jones had won.
