Chapter 883: He is Indeed a Chinese
by xennovelLate at night.
In China.
Inside Hua’e Mountain Manor.
It was supposed to be time for rest, but the lights in the living room of the manor were still on.
Mei Liangxinying’s face was grim as she operated the computer, her white forehead glistened with sweat.
Behind her, Zhao Qingyu, Zhou Sixian, Song Xinran, Liu Rushuang, Liu Ruxu, Linda, and Du Ruyan were all anxiously staring at the computer screen.
“How is the situation?”
Du Ruyan asked. She couldn’t understand the data on the computer and could only turn to Linda and Liu Rushuang.
“Not optimistic.”
Liu Rushuang, with her large belly, spoke with a heavy expression.
“Click!”
After a long while, Mei Liangxinying closed the laptop and collapsed powerlessly onto the sofa, her face pale.
“It’s over, my company is finished.”
Mei Liangxinying muttered to herself.
Today was the day her company went public, but unexpectedly, the stock fluctuated strangely, and by the end, it was completely out of control.
To put it simply, the company had been shorted.
“Sister Lianging, you… are you okay? Should we tell Brother Shaochen?”
Du Ruyan asked softly.
Mei Liangxinying took a deep breath and shook her head, “Forget it, there’s no need to disturb him. This was my mistake; someone exploited a loophole.”
“But your company…” Song Xinran hesitated, not finishing her sentence. After all, this was Mei Liangxinying’s life’s work.
Mei Liangxinying chuckled bitterly, “It looks like even the heavens are forcing me to settle down and be a full-time housewife.”
Though she felt sad, she wasn’t overly dramatic; after all, her husband Xu Shaochen had plenty of money.
“Your company has an insider; this isn’t as simple as it seems.”
Linda said lightly. Without an insider, shorting a company would be almost impossible.
“Maybe, but I don’t have the energy to investigate now. The truth will come out tomorrow.”
Mei Liangxinying replied weakly. Whoever was responsible, they would surely show up tomorrow to claim their spoils.
On the rooftop of a tall building.
A young man in a white suit stood facing the wind.
He looked to be under 30, with a tall, slender build and handsome features.
Behind him stood two rows of bodyguards dressed in black.
As the young man enjoyed the night breeze, his hair slightly disheveled, he looked upon the neon-lit cityscape below and stretched out his arms as if in embrace.
Qinglian closed his eyes, a smile creeping across his face as he spoke calmly:
“Xu Shaochen, you once ruined my reputation, forcing me to flee the country in disgrace. But now that I’m back, it’s time to settle some scores.”
“World’s richest man? That’s an impressive title, but too bad it doesn’t scare me anymore.”
His words drifted away with the wind. Besides the bodyguards behind him, no one else would know of this declaration.
……………
New York.
Jones’s father had asked Jones’s uncle, the governor, the Jones family’s most powerful backing, to investigate Xu Shaochen’s identity and whereabouts.
He had sworn revenge; how could his son have been beaten so severely by a lowly Chinese man?
Unbearable! “Ring ring ring…”
A string of phone rings broke the silence in the hospital room.
Jones’s father, who wasn’t even named in this story, quickly answered the call: “Matt…”
“I’ve found the person you asked me to investigate, but I advise you to abandon any foolish thoughts and immediately have your stupid son apologize to him. Beg for his forgiveness.”
Before Jones’s father could finish speaking, the person on the other line interrupted him.
Jones’s father was stunned, “What? Apologize? Matt, do you know what you’re saying? My son Jones had his leg broken! And it was by a lowly Chinese man!”
He was furious, the mere thought of bowing his head to a lowly Chinese man was absolutely unacceptable.
“Yes, he is Chinese, but he’s also the heir to the Xu Corporation. Do you realize the size of the disaster your stupid son has caused?”
Jones’s uncle was even more furious now, speaking through gritted teeth.
Jones’s father was still in shock, “Xu… Xu Shaochen?”
Clearly, he had heard of the name Xu Shaochen, though he had never met him personally.
“Beep~ beep~ beep~”
The other party had already hung up.
Listening to the busy tone from the phone, Jones’s father looked grim, his heart filled with reluctance, yet also helplessness.
Not all Chinese are the same.
He still looked down on Xu Shaochen just the same, but he had no choice but to hide it. He had no choice but to secure Xu Shaochen’s forgiveness, or the consequences would be dire.
“Father, what did Uncle say? Did he find that lowly Chinese bastard?”
Jones, who had been asleep, was awakened by his father’s phone call.
“Yes, we’ll meet him early tomorrow.”
Jones’s father replied, with a complicated look on his face.
Jones was immediately overjoyed, his eyes gleaming with excitement at the thought of revenge: “Father, I can’t wait for tomorrow! I must humiliate that lowly bastard.”
Watching his son’s excitement, Jones’s father forced a smile but couldn’t bring himself to tell him they were going there to apologize.
Otherwise, he feared his son might just die from anger.
……………
At the Xu Residence.
“Dear, how are you feeling? Are you more calm now?”
Jenny stood outside the bathroom door, holding Xu Shaochen’s clothes, her face filled with schadenfreude.
But there was no response from inside.
Jenny paused, “Why aren’t you answering, Xu Shaochen? Shaochen?”
There was still no sound from inside.
Jenny panicked and rushed in, opening the door.
“Ah!”
She screamed as someone grabbed her and pushed her against the wall.
“Aunt, I didn’t realize you were genuinely worried about me.”
Xu Shaochen whispered softly by her ear.
“Let go of me, you bastard! You liar!”
Jenny was on the verge of tears as she struggled in his arms, realizing she had fallen into his trap.
“Let go of you? I must say, you’ve been very mischievous just now. I think I need to punish you properly today.”
Xu Shaochen said with a wicked smile, his tone leaving much to the imagination.
Jenny’s face turned pale with fright, thinking her chastity was at great risk. She really wasn’t prepared for this.
A few minutes later.
Jenny, her hair disheveled, sat in the corner with her arms crossed over her chest, teary-eyed as she begged from the bathroom.
“Shaochen, I was wrong. Please open the door and let me out. If not, at least give me back my clothes. I’m so cold.”
It was clear that Xu had used her own method against her.
