“What? Miss me?”

Xu Shaochen answered the video call, and Mei Liangxinying’s delicate face appeared on the screen.

“Miss you, my foot!”

Mei Liangxinying rolled her eyes.

Xu Shaochen blinked: “Baby, which foot are you talking about?”

“Get lost! Stop talking nonsense all the time. You’re driving me crazy. I came to you for serious business.”

Mei Liangxinying’s cheeks turned slightly red, half annoyed but half teasing. She really couldn’t handle Xu Shaochen’s constant antics.

“What business? You’re pregnant?”

Xu Shaochen asked suspiciously.

“Pregnant with air! My company was ransacked.”

Mei Liangxinying snapped back, clearly frustrated.

“What happened?”

Xu Shaochen’s face grew serious.

“It’s like this…” Mei Liangxinying began to explain the situation.

After hearing her out, Xu Shaochen frowned: “What about the surveillance footage? Send it to me so I can take a look.”

“No need. I’ve already got the clearest screenshot. I’ll just show it to you.”

As Mei Liangxinying said this, she moved the phone, directing the camera to a laptop.

On the laptop was a still from the security footage, showing a clear shot of a young man’s face.

“Him?”

Xu Shaochen immediately recognized the person. He thought the matter was over, but it seemed this guy, barely having survived, still didn’t know when to quit.

“Who is it? Say something! The trouble you caused, and now I have to clean it up? Wait till you come back and see how I deal with you!”

Seeing Xu Shaochen stay quiet, Mei Liangxinying became visibly anxious.

“Deal with me? You mean, keep me in bed for half a month?”

Xu Shaochen said cheekily. He just couldn’t resist cracking a joke when the opportunity presented itself.

“If you keep making those jokes, I won’t just keep you in bed for half a month. I’ll hire a couple of guys to break your legs and keep you bed-bound for life.”

Mei Liangxinying ground her teeth as she threatened him, even waving her small fist. It was a mix of cute and fierce.

“His name is Zheng Bei, from Hong Kong. His brother courted death, and he wanted revenge on me, but I turned the tables on him.”

“Last time I went to Hong Kong, I didn’t see him, so I forgot about it. I didn’t expect him to suddenly show up again.”

Xu Shaochen briefly explained, purposefully leaving out the key details.

“How did you turn the tables?” Mei Liangxinying asked, curious.

Xu Shaochen’s expression became somewhat awkward. He cleared his throat: “Look up the keywords ‘Zheng Bei’ and ‘Zhou Yun’ on Baidu. I’m sure there are still news articles about it.”

Hearing this, Mei Liangxinying immediately began typing on the laptop. Her fingers were impressively nimble.

Watching her type, Xu Shaochen suddenly felt a pang of sympathy. Did she train those nimble fingers while he was away?

Mei Liangxinying input the keywords and clicked search.

Xu Shaochen declared righteously. He, Xu, had a clear conscience. He’d been in Jiangzhou at the time, so how could this have anything to do with him?

He felt that this was true happiness.

Xu Shaochen asked Mei Liangxinying to send him Zheng Bei’s photo, then got up and left his office, heading to Jenny’s office.
