Chapter Index

    Inside the hotel.

“Tom, what do we do now?”

Jennifer and Dennis both looked at Tom anxiously.

Tom felt irritated from their gazes, especially since he had just lost face in front of them.

“Don’t worry, I’ll go ask Young Master Tony. If he steps in, your problems will be easily solved.”

However, he wasn’t very confident, as he had already troubled Tony twice about this matter.

“Let’s go, that damn lucky Chinese bastard isn’t worth worrying about.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Tom took the lead and walked outside the hotel. Jennifer and Dennis exchanged glances but had no choice but to follow.

Walking ahead, Tom didn’t notice that Jennifer and Dennis were holding each other closely behind him. It was quite stimulating.

“Wait here, I’ll go get the car.”

Tom said this, then walked across the street.

    “Buzz buzz buzz—bang!”

Suddenly, a car parked by the roadside roared to life and sped forward, knocking him directly to the ground.

But it wasn’t over yet. The car reversed and ran over Tom’s legs before speeding off.

    “Aaaaah!”

Tom didn’t lose consciousness. Lying on the ground, he screamed in agony, his face deathly pale as cold sweat dripped down like rain.

It wasn’t until this moment that Jennifer and Dennis reacted. Both of their faces turned pale as they quickly rushed over.

    “Tom! Tom!”

Jennifer was panicked and immediately took out her phone to call an ambulance.

Twenty minutes later, the hospital reported that they could only amputate his legs. He would spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

Ten minutes after that, a drunk driver turned himself in to the police, claiming to be the perpetrator.

He confessed that he had driven under the influence, accidentally hitting someone, and in a panic, fled the scene, causing the secondary collision. Realizing his mistake, he had no choice but to turn himself in.

Later, as he sobered up, he had an epiphany and voluntarily went to the police to confess, even providing the vehicle involved.

Initial police investigations confirmed the car was indeed registered to the man who turned himself in, and his fingerprints were found on the steering wheel.

As for the details of the collision, the man claimed his memories were fuzzy due to his intoxicated state, but he gave a rough explanation.

Thus, the case was considered closed.

“Shit! Fuck! Damn confession! I swear, he’s just a scapegoat! The mastermind must be that yellow-skinned Chinese bastard, Xu!”

On his hospital bed, after hearing the police report, Tom became agitated. His eyes were bloodshot, and he cursed loudly.

“Tom, calm down. Darling, please calm down.”

Jennifer came forward to hold him, trying to soothe him.

“Jennifer, it’s definitely that bastard! It has to be him! He gave me a warning look before he left! It can’t be wrong!”

Tom was convinced that Xu Shaochen was the mastermind. Otherwise, how could it be so coincidental that after ridiculing Xu to his face, no harm followed, but right after leaving, a car ran over his legs?

Only a Chinese person would be this insidious.

“Tom, we don’t have any evidence, do we?”

Jennifer asked. She also believed that Xu Shaochen was behind it, and she was scared. She wanted this to end soon.

She no longer wanted to be an actress.

    “Phone, where’s my phone?”

    Tom demanded.

    “Here it is.”

    Jennifer handed him the phone.

Then Tom dialed Tony’s number: “Young Master Tony, you have to help me get revenge! I was set up by that despicable Chinese bastard!”

“Tom, I suggest you correct your language, or next time it won’t just be your legs. Xu told me that the only reason you’re alive is because he spared you for my sake. You should be grateful.”

“Alright, focus on recovering. I’ll personally send you some compensation money. Consider it comfort.”

Tony’s tone was calm. After saying that, he decisively hung up.

After Xu Shaochen acted, he had called Tony, so Tony knew the whole situation.

Though Tony was annoyed, as Tom was his man, there wasn’t much he could do since Xu Shaochen had already taken action.

What was the point of being angry now?

So Tony hadn’t shown any outward displeasure or anger towards Xu Shaochen, leaving Xu with the impression that he now owed Tony a favor.

    As for Tom.

When Tom was unharmed, he could work for Tony and make him money.

Now that Tom was crippled, what use was he? So, Tony would give him some money and send him on his way.

That’s how cold and ruthless Tony was. Only interest mattered, not sentiment.

And before discarding Tom, Tony even leveraged the situation to make Xu Shaochen owe him a favor.

    “Beep—beep—beep.”

Listening to the busy tone from the phone, Tom was in a daze, unable to process what had just happened. His face was full of disbelief.

“Fuck! Damn it! They’re all a bunch of bastards! The fuck is compensation money!? Are you treating me like a beggar!?”

After a while, Tom threw his phone hard against the wall, yelling hysterically.

He had thought that after following Tony for so many years, making him so much money, and handling so many things for him,

he would have some status in Tony’s heart, surely higher than Xu Shaochen, that Chinese man.

But reality slapped him hard, leaving him disoriented.

It turned out Xu Shaochen was right.

He was indeed just a dog that Tony had raised.

When he was useful, Tony wouldn’t mind stroking his fur and tossing him a bone.

But once he couldn’t bite anymore, Tony wouldn’t waste any more resources on him. Just one swift kick and he was gone.

If Xu Shaochen could hear Tom’s thoughts now, he would probably laugh.

Talking about emotions with people who deal in capital? What a joke.

    ……..

    Morning.

Xu Shaochen was having breakfast with Jenny and the others when he received a call from Jim.

After a day and night of fermenting, with contributions from Xu Shaochen, the Nick Family, and the Karen Family, the Johnson Family’s fake drug scandal had spiraled out of control.

Although it wasn’t yet global, protests had already broken out across Mg Country by yesterday afternoon and night, with citizens taking to the streets.

Of course, among these ‘spontaneous’ crowds were people secretly placed by Xu Shaochen to stir things up.

Politically, members of the Johnson Family were also struggling to withstand the pressure. Relevant authorities had issued documents ordering a search and investigation into the Johnson Financials.

Further, in the latest meeting, a suggestion had been made to freeze all of the Johnson Family’s accounts to prevent them from transferring assets and fleeing the country.

Without a doubt, this proposal had come from the Nick and Karen Families.

Members of the Johnson Family were on the verge of losing it. Last night, Jim personally went to see Xu Shaochen, but the bodyguards rejected him with an excuse that Xu wasn’t home.

As a result, all he could do was continue trying to reach Xu by phone.
