“It seems our friend here is in quite a bad mood.”

Xu Shaochen smiled as he withdrew his outstretched hand, showing no sign of awkwardness.

Tony and Mike burst into laughter.

For Jim, who hadn’t walked far, the laughter sounded harsh, making his face darken with frustration as he quickened his steps.

“Xu, care for a drink? Let’s celebrate our victory.”

Mike placed a hand on Xu Shaochen’s shoulder.

Before Xu Shaochen could finish his sentence, his phone rang.

He glanced at it and saw that it was from Chen Li, calling from the Island’s laboratory. His face immediately changed.

This was Chen Li’s first call to him, which meant something big must have happened.

“Tony, Mike, I’m afraid I can’t join you guys for fun. I’ll treat you next time.”

Chen Li’s voice was filled with excitement, even trembling.

But for him to call this a major breakthrough meant a decisive step forward had been made.

The middle-aged man replied respectfully.

Xu Shaochen chuckled. Chen Li was just as nervous as he was, likely fearing someone would sabotage the experiment and destroy the serum.

“Come here…”

Xu Shaochen pointed at one of the security leaders and whispered something in his ear.

Ten minutes later, they arrived at the laboratory by jeep.

“Salute!”

The security personnel at the entrance of the lab all snapped to attention with guns in hand.

Xu Shaochen quickly entered the laboratory and made his way to the jade research section. After undergoing an iris scan, he was allowed in.

This lab was the most secure facility within the entire complex. Apart from a few researchers inside, only Xu Shaochen’s iris scan could unlock the door.

When he entered, he found Chen Li staring intensely at a safe, not daring to avert his gaze for even a moment.

“Mr. Xu, you’re finally here.”

Seeing Xu Shaochen, Chen Li breathed a sigh of relief, eagerly stepping forward.

“Show me the results first.”

Xu Shaochen commanded decisively.

“This way, Mr. Xu.”

Chen Li led Xu Shaochen to a room where the test animals were kept and stopped in front of a large box made of bulletproof glass.

Inside, a man was standing. He looked no different from an ordinary person.

From his build and outfit, it was clear that he was one of the security guards on the Island.

The man had his eyes closed, but as if sensing Xu Shaochen’s arrival, he suddenly opened them.

Long Yi and Long Er immediately tensed, moving in front of Xu Shaochen, alert and cautious of the man inside the glass.
