Chapter Index

Inside an office on the second floor of a bar.

Two people were sitting inside, one was a black man, the other was from China.

Both of them had just heard the sound of gunshots from downstairs.

    “What’s going on?”

The middle-aged Chinese man frowned and asked. Since guns are banned in China, he was very sensitive to the sound of gunfire.

The black man, however, appeared calm: “Chen, relax. This is Meiguo. Guns going off here is normal, most likely just a conflict between guests. If anything serious happens, someone will report it.”

“Alright, Jason, then let’s talk about the woman who escaped. There won’t be any issues affecting our deal, right?”

Chen Xun looked at Jason as he spoke.

He was the boss of a labor company, but under the guise of that business, he was actually trafficking people.

Jason smiled dismissively: “Chen, you really don’t understand our Meiguo. Even if that Chinese bitch went to the police, it wouldn’t matter. Besides, my brother is the chief of the nearby police station.”

    “Bang!”

At that moment, the door was suddenly pushed open.

The two men inside were both startled.

“Shit! Damn it! Who gave you permission to enter? You’d better have a good reason!”

Jason’s face was dark as he glared at the man who entered.

“Boss, we’ve found that Chinese woman who escaped. She was brought back by a group, and there’s already a conflict downstairs.”

The subordinate hurriedly explained the situation.

“What? Are they out of their minds?”

Jason was furious. So the gunshots just now really were because someone was causing trouble here.

He slammed the table and rushed downstairs with over a dozen bodyguards.

Chen Xun felt an ominous feeling but still followed.

    When the two arrived downstairs,

they saw all the bar enforcers lying on the ground, groaning. It was obvious that each one had a broken leg.

The bar manager was kneeling on the ground, trembling.

A Chinese man was sitting on the sofa, calmly sipping a drink made by the bartender, while bodyguards in suits surrounded him.

“It’s him! That black guy and the Chinese man next to him! That Chinese man is the labor company boss!”

Seeing Jason and Chen Xun, Chen Tao became excited, eyes filled with hatred.

“Buddy, causing trouble on my turf isn’t cool. Also, that woman with you is one of my employees. I think you should return her to me.”

Jason said to Xu Shaochen, still maintaining a somewhat polite tone since he had fewer people than Xu.

“The wine here is really awful. I paid 80 dollars for this, but I don’t think it’s worth it.”

Xu Shaochen put down the glass and said calmly, looking at Jason.

The bartender, holding 80 dollars, cowered in the corner, shivering.

“What do you mean? What are you trying to do?”

    Jason frowned.

    “You’ll find out soon enough.”

Xu Shaochen said indifferently, giving Long Yi and Long Er a signal.

Long Yi and Long Er grinned menacingly and started walking towards Jason.

All of Jason’s men raised their guns, aiming at Long Yi and Long Er.

“Damn it, stop right there! Or I won’t hesitate to send you both to meet God!”

Jason shouted at Long Yi and Long Er, but as they advanced, he felt a growing sense of unease.

The bodyguards on Xu Shaochen’s side also drew their guns.

“Drop all your guns on the ground, or I guarantee you’ll meet God before you get a chance to fire.”

Xu Shaochen said in a calm voice. When you have more people, you can afford to be confident.

Jason’s ten or so men exchanged glances before collectively looking at Jason.

“Kid, do you even know who I am? Do you realize the price you’ll pay for this?”

Jason gritted his teeth and spoke angrily, glaring at Xu Shaochen with murderous intent.

    “Shoot.”

Xu Shaochen coldly spat out two words.

    “Bang! Bang! Bang!”

    Gunshots echoed through the bar.

    “Ahhhh!”

    “My hand!”

Jason’s men, already terrified and outnumbered, were slower to react. All of them were shot down to the floor.

    Three of them died instantly.

The rest were all hit, groaning and screaming in pain on the ground.

Jason and Chen Xun were drenched in cold sweat, shocked that Xu Shaochen had actually ordered to open fire.

Killing this many people, even in Meiguo, this was a major scandal.

That damned bastard! Isn’t he afraid of the police?

    “Ahhh!”

In the next second, both Jason and Chen Xun screamed.

Long Yi and Long Er each grabbed one of them by the hair, dragging them in front of Xu Shaochen.

“Brother, I… I’m also from China. Maybe there’s a misunderstanding between us. It’s better to make peace than start a feud…”

Chen Xun knelt, trembling, forcing a smile, desperately trying to curry favor with Xu Shaochen.

    “Bang!”

Xu Shaochen smashed his glass on Chen Xun’s head.

    “Ahhh!”

Chen Xun screamed, clutching his forehead as blood trickled down his face.

“You’re not even worthy of sharing the same nationality as me. Are you afraid of death?”

Xu Shaochen looked down at him condescendingly.

“Yes! I’m scared! Big brother, what did I do to offend you? Please, let me go. I’ll pay anything, as much as you want.”

Chen Xun kept nodding, tears and snot flowing, begging Xu Shaochen in despair.

“Letting you go isn’t impossible. Do you see those glass shards on the ground?”

Xu Shaochen smiled playfully, pointing at the broken glass on the floor.

    “Y-yes, I see them.”

Chen Xun nodded nervously, unsure of what Xu Shaochen was planning.

“Eat them. Eat every piece, and I’ll consider letting you go. Otherwise, I’ll put a bullet through your head.”

Xu Shaochen smiled kindly, but to Chen Xun, it looked like a devil baring its fangs.

“Big brother… Can’t we find another way? Please…”

Looking at the sharp glass shards, Chen Xun turned pale. He couldn’t imagine how anyone could eat them.

If he actually ate them, he wouldn’t die, but he’d lose at least half his life.

    “Click!”

Xu Shaochen grabbed a gun, pressing it against Chen Xun’s head, his gaze icy: “Eat the glass, or eat a bullet. You’ve got two choices. That’s pretty generous, I’d say.”

Xu Shaochen never intended to let this scumbag live. Making him eat the glass was just one last act of cruelty before killing him.

Feeling the cold muzzle against his head, Chen Xun froze. After a long pause, he said with difficulty:

“I’ll eat. Big brother, I’ll eat. Just take the gun away, please.”
