Chapter Index

With Jason and Vincent both drawing their last breaths.

The entire bar hall became eerily silent. Aside from the increasingly heavy breathing, there was no other sound.

“Finish them with another shot. I’ll let you take the credit for this.”

Xu Shaochen turned to the two young officers who had come with Vincent.

    “No… we… we can’t.”

The two young officers were trembling in fear. After all, Vincent was their grim example, lying right there on the floor.

“Relax. I’m no saint either. I won’t do anything to you.”

Xu Shaochen said gently, waving his hand. Two bodyguards stepped forward and placed guns against the foreheads of the two white officers.

“Just do as you’re told, okay?”

    Xu Shaochen spoke calmly.

The two young officers were on the verge of tears. Did they really have any room to negotiate right now?

They could only use their service pistols and fire two more shots into Vincent and Jason.

    “Bang! Bang!”

“Now that’s what I’m talking about.”

Xu Shaochen smiled, then pulled out some USD and handed it to Chen Tao: “Take the money. That’s all I can do for you.”

After saying that, Xu Shaochen left with his people. As for what happened here, someone else would come to clean up the mess.

“Thank you, thank you, big brother, thank you!”

    “Boo-hoo… big brother, thank you.”

A dozen women fell to their knees, sobbing, as they bowed to Xu Shaochen’s departing figure, unable to hold back their tears.

Only they knew the despair they’d felt since coming to Meiguo. Now that Xu Shaochen had saved them, it was like being given a second life.

Xu Shaochen sighed helplessly. Ah, he really had a bad habit of meddling in other people’s business.

No choice. There’s an old saying.

When you’re poor, focus on cultivating your own virtue. When rich, gather wives and concubines… Ah, no, I meant use your wealth to aid the world.

He couldn’t save the entire world, but he couldn’t stand to see his fellow countrymen being bullied overseas.

Some things, if you feel like doing them, then just do them. No need for thanks, just peace of mind.

    “Ding, ding, ding…”

Just as he stepped out of the bar, his phone rang.

“Hello, Auntie. What? Zheng Bei’s father-in-law agreed to meet me? Okay, got it.”

    …………

    In China.

    Floral Peak Villa Estate.

“This guy, surnamed Zheng, is too much! After using despicable means to snatch Sister Ying’s company, he shamelessly exploits its resources every day.”

Sitting on the sofa, Du Ruyan huffed angrily.

“Yeah, when is Shaochen coming back? Otherwise, this guy Zheng will really think there’s no one who can deal with him.”

“He stirs up trouble every other day. It’s dragging Sister Ying’s company’s reputation down!”

“And he’s stealing clients from Chen Yu. Honestly, if it weren’t for Shaochen’s connections, he’d have stolen all the clients by now.”

“Another two clients got beaten up. They came to us with bruised faces, asking to terminate their contracts. We couldn’t just refuse, right?”

Linda, Song Xinran, Zhou Sixian, Liu Ruxue, and the others chimed in one after the other, all gritting their teeth in hatred for Zheng Bei.

Ever since Zheng Bei took over Mei Liangying’s company, he’d been doing all sorts of immoral things, ruining the company’s reputation.

It had been a decent entertainment company, but now he expanded into other industries, specifically targeting Chen Yu Group.

He used various methods to steal clients from Chen Yu Group. If they refused, they’d either face threats of bullets or bombs, or just be beaten up.

    Call the police?

Zheng Bei didn’t personally engage in these activities anyway. He always played dumb, and there were plenty of fall guys willing to take the blame.

In any case, Zheng Bei was just trying to give Xu Shaochen a hard time. His main operations weren’t even here, and he didn’t plan to stay long. So, naturally, he didn’t care about making trouble.

What’s worse is that he has the backing of a drug cartel. Otherwise, even without Xu Shaochen, a few big companies in Jiangzhou alone would have made him cry uncle.

Now, Zheng Bei was like an unstoppable rogue, and no one wanted to deal with him.

“Sigh, when is Shaochen coming back?”

Zhao Qingyu let out a heavy sigh.

Meanwhile, inside what used to be Mei Liangying’s office.

Zheng Bei had just hung up the phone.

A bodyguard he’d bribed, who worked for his father-in-law, had informed him.

His father-in-law was going to meet with Xu Shaochen.

Zheng Bei sneered. The guy surnamed Xu is trying to cut me off at the source, huh? He almost effortlessly guessed what Xu Shaochen was planning.

Since that’s the case, I’ll use his own plan against him. I’ll catch him in a trap.

Zheng Bei showed a sinister smile as he dialed another number on his phone.

Even though he controlled a company independently, he still had his own forces.

I’ll use his plan to get rid of Xu Shaochen in Mexico.

This can’t reach my father-in-law, so I’ll have to handle it with my own men.

    No, wait.

After thinking it over, Zheng Bei didn’t feel assured. It would be better if he personally went back to arrange things. There were too many variables otherwise.

Besides, being able to personally send Xu Shaochen on his way would really satisfy his thirst for revenge.

And if he quietly returned, Xu Shaochen would undoubtedly think he was still in the country. When the time came, I’ll catch him off guard and give him a big surprise.

    …………

    In New York.

    In Jenny’s office.

“Where’s the time and place of the meeting?”

Xu Shaochen asked. He still didn’t know that Zheng Bei had already guessed his plans and was preparing to turn the tables.

However, even if he knew, Xu Shaochen wouldn’t have cared.

After all, now that the genetic serum research was a success, all of his security staff were enhanced soldiers injected with the serum.

If Zheng Bei could still manage to kill him with a bunch of lowlife thugs under these conditions, then it would truly mean the heavens wanted Xu Shaochen dead.

“Miguel said the meeting will be at his villa. You can pick the time.”

Jenny replied. Miguel was Zheng Bei’s father-in-law, one of the top drug lords in Mexico.

These kinds of bosses usually stayed hidden in their strongholds. Too many people wanted them dead.

“Then let’s do the day after tomorrow.”

    Xu Shaochen said.

Jenny tossed her phone to Xu Shaochen: “Then you call him yourself.”

Xu Shaochen shrugged and found Miguel’s number, dialing it.

    “Miss Jenny.”

The phone was answered, and a powerful voice came through.

    “This is Xu Shaochen.”

    Xu Shaochen said.

“Oh, apologies, Mr. Xu. I thought it was Miss Jenny. It’s an honor to speak with you.”

Miguel adopted a humble tone. After all, he wasn’t much compared to Xu Shaochen.

“Let’s set the meeting for the day after tomorrow.”

    Xu Shaochen stated.

    “Mr. Xu, you’ve got guts.”

Miguel said. For someone as important as Xu Shaochen to visit a powerful drug lord’s stronghold, it truly took courage.

    “It’s not guts. It’s confidence.”

Xu Shaochen ended the call, his confidence stemming from his status.

No drug lord in Mexico would dare lay a finger on him. Doing so would cut off their entire future.
