Chapter Index

    Inside the living room.

“Mr. Xu, it’s an honor to meet you, but I apologize for making you come all this way.”

Miguel said to Xu Shaochen, his face full of apologies, lowering his posture.

“I understand, I understand. Mr. Miguel’s identity makes it inconvenient for you to appear in public. Besides, I just treated it as a trip.”

Xu Shaochen said casually with a warm smile.

“Mr. Xu, I don’t know why you wanted to see me. If there’s any way I can help, Miguel will not hesitate.”

Miguel asked Xu Shaochen frankly. After all, the difference in their statuses was clear, so playing any tricks before Xu Shaochen would be a waste of effort.

Xu Shaochen put away his smile. “I heard that Mr. Miguel’s daughter married my countryman, Zheng Bei, correct?”

“What do you mean, Mr. Xu…” Miguel asked in slight confusion, unsure what connection his son-in-law had with Xu Shaochen.

However, he was very satisfied with this son-in-law. His behavior was organized, and he was highly capable.

In the future, when his own son takes over his position, having someone like that to assist him would make it easier to manage things.

“Mr. Miguel, to be honest, I have some personal grudges with Zheng Bei. And as far as I know, you and your daughter are likely being used by him.”

As Xu Shaochen spoke, he handed over some documents he had prepared long ago.

Miguel frowned, feeling a bit troubled. He didn’t expect Zheng Bei to have a feud with Xu Shaochen.

If it were anyone else, it might have been fine. But Zheng Bei was his son-in-law, and his daughter was madly in love with him. He couldn’t just hand him over to Xu Shaochen.

Feeling conflicted, Miguel tore open the file and took out the documents inside.

As he read through them, his face darkened, and in an instant, a storm clouded over his expression. A murderous air began to rise in his heart.

Because those documents were news about Zheng Bei and Zhou Yun engaging in homosexual behavior. There were pictures as evidence.

If this were to be exposed to his acquaintances or enemies, his face would be utterly destroyed.

His daughter had married a homosexual!

“Mr. Miguel, the reason Zheng Bei married your daughter is simply to use your influence. He wants to leverage your power to take revenge on me.”

“According to my intel, he recently returned to China and has already started causing me trouble.”

“To put it bluntly, Mr. Miguel, do you believe that if it weren’t for your influence, a weakling like Zheng Bei, who enjoys being with men, would suddenly change his sexuality and marry a woman?”

Xu Shaochen added fuel to the fire, further stoking the flames, aiming to make Zheng Bei look as bad as possible.

But what he said wasn’t baseless; it was backed by evidence.

Moreover, given his status, his words carried even more weight.

    “Bastard!”

Miguel squeezed out the word through his clenched teeth, his knuckles turning white as if he were on the verge of exploding.

He had many sons, but only one daughter, and had always adored her.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have agreed to let her marry a penniless Chinese man.

But now he knew that this guy was gay! A homosexual who had slept with his daughter! What a tremendous humiliation! And worse, this guy might be toying with his daughter’s feelings, just using the Miguel family’s influence to take revenge on Xu Shaochen.

These thoughts made his fury rise uncontrollably.

“Mr. Miguel, the reason I’m telling you this is because I don’t want you to be played by him. If things spiral out of control, Mr. Miguel, you may end up paying a heavy price.”

Xu Shaochen said calmly, then picked up his tea cup and drank, saying no more.

Miguel took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the anger in his heart.

He knew Xu Shaochen was right.

If he let Zheng Bei continue like this, when Xu Shaochen eventually retaliated and implicated Miguel’s entire Duoxiao Group, that group, which even the Mexican government hadn’t been able to eradicate, might be wiped out.

“Mr. Xu, rest assured, I will handle this and give you an explanation. I’ll also give myself one.”

Miguel said decisively, his eyes shining coldly. He called out to the doorway, “Bring the young lady here.”

    “Yes, boss.”

    Someone responded from outside.

    “What are you…”

    Xu Shaochen had a guess.

Miguel threw the documents and photos on the table, his face expressionless. “In China, there’s an old saying: ‘Better a short pain than prolonged agony.’ Instead of hiding it from her, it’s better to let her be heartbroken now and then cut things off cleanly.”

Xu Shaochen sighed. A parent’s heart is truly full of compassion.

Whether ordinary people, high-ranking officials, or someone as ruthless as Miguel, when it came to their children, they had no reservations.

“He’s probably still in China. I’ll call him back.” Miguel said.

Xu Shaochen hurried to stop him. “No need, Mr. Miguel. I just wanted to tell you the truth to prevent unnecessary conflicts between us. As long as you stop supporting him, I’ll handle the rest.”

He didn’t yet know that Zheng Bei had already returned to Mexico. After all, Zheng Bei had left quietly and had instructed his trusted confidant to remain in Jiangzhou to create the illusion that he was still there.

“Mr. Xu, thank you for the trouble.”

Miguel expressed his gratitude to Xu Shaochen solemnly.

“Father, what do you need me for?”

A voice came before the person, and soon after, a fair-skinned woman walked in. She was Miguel’s daughter and Zheng Bei’s wife.

“As of today, cut off all your ties and relationship with Zheng Bei.”

    Miguel said decisively.

His daughter was instantly stunned, the smile on her face stiffened. “Father… is this an April Fool’s joke?”

She thought her father was joking with her. How could he say such a thing otherwise?

“See for yourself. Take a look at what kind of person your husband, my son-in-law, truly is!”

Miguel threw the documents Xu Shaochen had given him to the woman.

Miguel’s daughter gave him a suspicious look, then picked up the documents. As soon as she saw them, her face instantly turned pale.

“This… this isn’t possible. This is fake. This isn’t… this…”

The emotional blow was so heavy that Miguel’s daughter struggled to even form a coherent sentence.

After all, any woman finding out her man was gay, and with these accusations already having been reported in the news, would surely find it hard to accept.

Disappointment, shock, doubt, humiliation—she probably felt all these emotions at once.

Though it was cruel for any woman, this was the result Xu Shaochen wanted.
