Chapter Index

Liu Jun looks like an intellectual now, with less of the fierceness he used to show and more restraint.

He exudes confidence from the inside out.

Wearing a suit and polished shoes, with a refined and gentle demeanor, plus his gold-rimmed glasses, he looks just like a ‘gentleman rogue’ (yes, this idiom is a compliment, go ahead and look it up).

All of this was thanks to Xu Shaochen.

Nowadays, in Jiangzhou, just one stomp from him could make people tremble in fear.

Otherwise, his nephew wouldn’t be so arrogant.

On Xu Shaochen’s first day back in the country, Liu Jun was one of the visitors.

But there were too many big names that night, and Liu Jun didn’t get much chance to chat with Xu Shaochen—he dropped off his gifts and left.

“Uncle, I swear I’ve been following your advice—always keeping a low profile. It’s just that I accidentally bumped into that man’s woman. Besides, I already apologized.”

“But I didn’t expect that guy to still be so aggressive, refusing to let it go and beating me up. If no one had stopped him, I might’ve been beaten to death.”

When Huang Mao lies, his eyes don’t even blink. Clearly, he’s quite practiced at it—he does it with ease.

If he had immediately apologized after bumping into someone, he wouldn’t have all those injuries on his face.

    “Take me to see him.”

Liu Jun knew that Huang Mao was most likely lying.

But from the lies, he could still pick out some truth.

For example, the cause of the incident likely was that Huang Mao bumped into someone.

However, he definitely didn’t apologize right away like he claimed.

But that didn’t make it okay for someone to beat his nephew like this.

After all, as his uncle, he had to get an explanation for his nephew being beaten up so badly.

As for Huang Mao’s mistakes, he would deal with him at home.

“My nephew made a mistake, so I will punish him. But it’s not for others to do.”

    “Yes, uncle. Please, walk slowly.”

Huang Mao, thrilled, eagerly led Liu Jun toward the mall, completely unaware that Liu Jun was already planning to teach him a harsh lesson back home.

The mall was large, and there weren’t many people, so tracking down someone was a bit difficult.

But where there’s a will, there’s a way, and it seemed fate was on little Huang Mao’s side—they quickly ran into Xu Shaochen and his group. (σ≧≦)σ

    “Uncle, it’s him…”

Seeing Xu Shaochen, Huang Mao quickly shouted.

But before he could finish, Liu Jun had already rushed over to Xu Shaochen with a humble smile on his face: “Mr. Xu, I didn’t expect to run into you here. Are you taking your two wives shopping?”

After speaking, he turned back to Huang Mao: “What were you just saying?”

    “N-Nothing, uncle. It’s nothing.”

Sensing something was wrong, Huang Mao quickly swallowed the rest of his words, breaking out in a cold sweat.

He realized he had just made a very stupid mistake.

    “Do you know him?”

Xu Shaochen pointed at Huang Mao and asked Liu Jun.

“Oh, Mr. Xu, this is my nephew.” Liu Jun spoke, then turned his gaze to Huang Mao, yelling: “What are you standing there for? Get over here and greet Mr. Xu!”

This little bastard might be a troublemaker, but he usually had some wits about him.

Why was his usual cleverness gone today? He wasn’t even showing a bit of discernment.

Huang Mao bit his lip and slowly approached, squeezing out a smile that looked worse than crying: “M-Mr. Xu, hello.”

By now, he had already figured out who Xu Shaochen was and felt like crying.

Who else could earn the respectful title of ‘Mr. Xu’ from his uncle other than the globally renowned Xu Shaochen?

And he’d even bumped into this man’s woman?! And now he just had to drag his uncle into getting revenge? How could he be this dumb?

“Mr. Xu, my nephew was beaten up like this, so I’m here to look for an explanation.”

Liu Jun pointed at Huang Mao’s swollen face and explained.

“Uncle, let’s just leave. We don’t need an explanation.”

Huang Mao quickly interjected, not daring to look at Xu Shaochen directly.

Xu Shaochen sneered, “Looking for an explanation? That’s easy. Just ask me directly. I’m the one who beat him up like this.”

Liu Jun froze, then suddenly turned to glare dangerously at Huang Mao, his eyes like a tiger about to devour its prey.

    “Uncle, let me explain…”

Huang Mao knew he was doomed and, driven by survival instincts, tried to defend himself.

    “Smack!”

Before he could finish his sentence, his uncle had already slapped him hard across the face.

The crisp sound drew everyone’s attention as they stopped to watch.

    “Smack! Smack!”

The sound of slaps echoed repeatedly in the air for quite some time.

Huang Mao didn’t dare say a word and just endured the punishment quietly.

Liu Jun finally took a deep breath after what may have been the last slap. He then deeply bowed to Xu Shaochen: “Mr. Xu, I am deeply sorry. I failed in my duty to discipline him. Please feel free to punish as you see fit.”

Liu Ruxue tugged at Xu Shaochen’s sleeve, signaling that it was enough.

After all, while Xu Shaochen had been away, Liu Jun had frequently brought gifts to their house.

Many people came to send gifts, but Liu Jun was smarter about it.

He didn’t send expensive jewels or diamonds.

He knew the Xu family didn’t need those.

Instead, he sent local delicacies and sought-after medicinal herbs for pregnancy, which added a personal touch.

    “Get out of my sight!”

    Xu Shaochen said coldly.

“Thank Mr. Xu!” Liu Jun barked at Huang Mao.

Huang Mao seemed dazed from the beatings. After a long moment, he finally came to his senses: “Th-Thank you, Mr. Xu, for your mercy. Thank you!”

“Go home and reflect. If you step out of the house this month, I’ll break your legs.”

Liu Jun spoke coldly, leaving no room for doubt.

Huang Mao shuddered and ran off quickly.

He knew his uncle meant exactly what he said.

“In a few days, I might have to go to the Northwest. You’ll come with me,” Xu Shaochen said to Liu Jun. For this trip, he needed someone ruthless like Liu Jun—someone who fought like a starving wolf.

Liu Jun’s eyes lit up with excitement: “Yes! Thank you, Mr. Xu!”

Xu choosing to take him on this trip meant he valued him. Of course, Liu Jun was overjoyed.

    To put it bluntly,

there were enough people eager to curry favor with Xu to circle the globe, but they couldn’t find the right opportunity.

“Alright, go back and get your affairs in order.”

    Xu Shaochen waved him off.

“Yes, I won’t disturb you and the two ladies anymore.”

Liu Jun bowed and left, also nodding politely to Mei Liangxin and Liu Ying as he departed.
