Chapter 966: The Bodyguard Trying to Kill Two Birds with One Stone
by xennovelIn the car.
“Young master, where are we going?”
The bodyguard, whose face was still swollen and bruised, sat in the driver’s seat and asked in a muffled voice.
“Do something for me. Find a couple people to kidnap Pan Quan’s wife and son. Damn it, those ungrateful fools!”
A shadow crossed Zhao Fei’s eyes as he gritted his teeth while speaking.
He needed to kidnap Pan Quan’s wife and child to force him to follow his orders.
Another reason was simply to get revenge on Pan Quan.
That bastard had dared to look down on him. He had to learn who Zhao Fei truly was.
The driver’s expression flickered when he heard this, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes: “Young master, I’ll step out to call a few friends and make sure everything’s ready.”
“Alright, go ahead. Do this well, and I’ll make sure you’re taken care of.” Zhao Fei nodded. Seated in the back, he didn’t notice the bodyguard’s shifting expression.
The bodyguard stepped out of the car, glanced coldly at Zhao Fei, and then dialed Zhao Chen’s number: “Eldest Young Master, the second young master has gone mad… Yes, I understand.”
He relayed Zhao Fei’s orders about kidnapping Pan Quan’s wife and child.
He had long been sick of following Zhao Fei, who had no future. Zhao Chen was obviously the Zhao Family’s future heir.
Because he had been following Zhao Fei, his status among the Zhao Family’s bodyguards wasn’t high.
What’s more, Zhao Fei had just beaten him up over a simple remark. This not only hurt but also made him deeply resentful.
He wanted to take revenge on Zhao Fei and leave his service. This was the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.
After finishing the call, the bodyguard got back in the car.
“Took you long enough! You left me waiting here forever!”
After the bodyguard got in, Zhao Fei cursed him.
The bodyguard chuckled awkwardly: “Young master, I was just discussing the details with my friends. They’ll act tonight.”
“That’s more like it. Drive home.”
Zhao Fei finished and leaned back, closing his eyes for a nap.
A look of mockery flashed through the bodyguard’s eyes before he started the car.
After about half an hour, the car pulled up outside the Zhao Family estate.
“Young master, we’re home.”
The bodyguard carefully woke Zhao Fei, knowing he was not a morning person.
Zhao Fei stepped out, took a deep breath, calmed his emotions, and walked into the living room with a smile.
The bodyguard followed closely behind.
As soon as Zhao Fei entered the living room, he froze.
He saw that both his father and brother were sitting there, looking grim, as if they were waiting for him.
“How did it go?”
Zhao Lianghe asked in a neutral tone.
Zhao Fei snapped out of his daze and replied calmly, “Pan Quan is being difficult but I’ve already thought of a way to deal with him.”
“Your so-called method is to kidnap his wife and son to threaten him? How is that any different from pushing him into the Deng Family’s arms?!”
Zhao Chen slammed his hand on the table, glaring coldly at Zhao Fei.
Zhao Fei’s expression changed. He swallowed nervously, “Big brother… What are you talking about? I would never do such a thing.”
Damn it, how did Zhao Chen find out about this? He never once suspected the bodyguard.
In his mind, his bodyguard had always been a lowly dog who would take insults and beatings without a word. How could he possibly have the guts to betray him?
“Still trying to deny it?!” Zhao Chen grew even angrier, shouting at the bodyguard behind Zhao Fei. “Tell me, what’s going on!”
Zhao Fei whipped around, staring at his bodyguard.
“Young master, I’m sorry, but I can’t bring myself to kidnap someone’s wife and child,” the bodyguard said nervously, though his heart was brimming with joy.
“Damn you!”
Zhao Fei roared, his eyes red with anger, as he moved to kick the bodyguard.
He never expected that the person he thought was the least likely to betray him would be the one stabbing him in the back.
“Stop!” Zhao Lianghe shouted.
Though begrudgingly, Zhao Fei stopped. He looked at his father with clenched fists and said, “Dad, I’m doing this for our family. If we don’t act, Pan Quan will never understand the power of the Zhao Family!”
“Is that so?” Zhao Lianghe cast him a cold glance. “Your big brother just got off the phone with Pan Quan. He’s already agreed to our terms. Spend more time learning from your brother instead of trying to do things the wrong way!”
Zhao Fei looked at Zhao Chen, his face twisting with hatred, his fists clenched so tightly, his veins bulged, and his nails dug into his palms.
“Xiao Fei, you’ve really disappointed me.”
Zhao Chen said with frustration.
“Shut up! My business has nothing to do with you!”
Zhao Fei shouted and turned around, stomping toward the door.
He had never been this furious, not even when Xu Shaochen had broken both his arms. The hatred in his heart wasn’t this intense then.
Zhao Chen, Zhao Chen!
Why is it that everyone only has eyes for Zhao Chen? Why does no one care about me? Even my own bodyguard dares to betray me now!
“Where do you think you’re going?!”
Zhao Lianghe’s expression darkened, afraid Zhao Fei would do something foolish in his rage.
“Don’t worry about me! Clearly, I’m nothing but a disappointment to all of you! Your eldest son is all you need!”
Zhao Fei stopped walking for a moment and replied coldly.
“Smack!”
Zhao Chen walked up and slapped Zhao Fei across the face: “How dare you? Is this how you speak to our father? Where are your manners?!”
“I’ll remember this. One day, I’ll return that slap,” Zhao Fei said slowly, his voice determined as he touched his burning cheek.
He turned on his heel and stormed out of the living room, a wild idea forming in his mind.
“You…”
Zhao Chen was furious and moved to follow him.
“Let him go. He needs time to cool off.”
Zhao Lianghe stopped him, rubbing his temples in exhaustion.
“Dad, don’t let this affect your health.”
Zhao Chen said with concern.
Zhao Lianghe calmed himself, then turned to the bodyguard who had betrayed Zhao Fei.
“Sir.”
The bodyguard straightened up immediately, respectfully waiting for Zhao Lianghe to speak, believing his reward was near.
“Men, take him outside and beat him to death.”
Zhao Lianghe said coldly, his eyes full of disgust.
Two men entered, grabbed the bodyguard, and dragged him out.
“Sir! Sir!”
The bodyguard was utterly terrified and confused. His face went pale as he struggled desperately.
He had only wanted to kill two birds with one stone, but he’d forgotten one crucial truth: Zhao Lianghe was still Zhao Fei’s father.
Could Zhao Lianghe ever trust someone who’d betrayed his own son? Could he let him live?
