Chapter Index

    “Young Master, are you alright?”

“Big bro! Big bro, are you okay?!”

Zhao Chen suddenly spat blood, shocking everyone around.

“Oh my, Young Master Zhao really has an impressive amount of blood! If I had known, I would’ve prepared a bowl to collect it and make some spicy blood curd for the dogs tonight. What a waste. Such a waste.”

Deng Tianwen’s sarcastic tone was outrageous, even Zhao Fei found it hard to watch.

What’s the saying? ‘A petty person becomes arrogant when they get ahead in life.’ Just look at Deng Tianwen for proof.

“Deng, you… just wait. We’re leaving!”

Zhao Chen gasped heavily, speaking each word with difficulty while clutching his chest, afraid he might spit blood again.

“Leaving? What, do you think this place is your home where you can come and go as you please?”

Deng Tianwen sneered coldly, clapped his hands, and immediately a large group of workers armed with steel rods and shovels surrounded Zhao Chen and his men, glaring at them with fierce eyes.

“Deng Tianwen, what do you think you’re doing? I’m warning you, you’d better not mess around. Otherwise, you won’t be able to bear the consequences!”

Seeing the strong, burly workers, Zhao Chen and his bodyguards couldn’t help but feel jittery, their faces twitching uncontrollably.

Without speaking, Deng Tianwen took a shovel from one of the workers and walked toward Zhao Chen.

“Deng Tianwen, don’t do anything rash. We’re not at that point yet. If anything happens to me, my father won’t let you off the hook.”

Watching Deng Tianwen holding a weapon and inching closer, Zhao Chen’s face turned pale, and he instinctively stepped back.

“Young Master Zhao, why are you so scared? I just wanted to hand you this shovel so we could break ground for the construction together. Please, go ahead.”

When Deng Tianwen reached Zhao Chen, he suddenly smiled, looking as harmless as a sheep.

    “Phew—”

Zhao Chen exhaled in relief but was immediately filled with rage. This was blatant humiliation.

The two families were sworn enemies. Now being asked to break ground on Deng’s project? If that wasn’t open mockery, what was it?

“Deng Tianwen, you’re pushing it too far!” Zhao Chen roared, grinding his teeth. He swore that if he found out who leaked the information about Pan Quan, he would tear them apart.

He wasn’t an idiot; he certainly didn’t believe Deng Tianwen’s exaggerated claims of being well prepared.

Someone must have tipped Deng Tianwen off, giving him time to prepare and turn this whole situation into a joke at their expense.

“Today, I’m pushing it too far. So what?”

Deng Tianwen replied confidently, his face dark: “Young Master Zhao, everyone here is watching. If you don’t give me respect now, how will I look in front of these workers in the future?”

“If you dare not comply, keep in mind this site lacks many things, but we’re not short of cement and dirt. Worst case, I’ll toss you all into the mixer and blend you into the walls today.”

    “You’re bluffing!”

Zhao Chen gritted his teeth. Even though he knew Deng was trying to scare him, he still couldn’t help falling for it.

    “Whatever makes you happy,”

Deng Tianwen smiled faintly, offering no further explanations.

“Fine, Deng Tianwen! The shame you’ve brought on me today, I will repay it a hundredfold someday!”

Zhao Chen spat angrily, taking the shovel wrapped in red cloth and headed to start digging alongside Deng Tianwen.

“Smile and look cheerful, will you? From the look on your face, anyone passing by would think you’re digging a grave for your dead father!”

Watching Zhao Chen’s sullen face, Deng Tianwen couldn’t resist mocking him.

Zhao Chen seethed with rage but forced a stiff smile as he began shoveling alongside Deng Tianwen.

Then, right at that moment, a large group of reporters suddenly rushed out, snapping photos madly.

“What are you doing?! No pictures! Stop taking pictures! Shut those cameras off! Do you know who I am?!”

Zhao Chen’s face turned pale. He quickly dropped the shovel and used his hands to cover his face.

“Oh please, don’t mind Young Master Zhao’s shyness. He’s not fond of photography.”

Deng Tianwen wrapped his arm around Zhao Chen’s shoulder, smiling brightly at the cameras.

Zhao Chen was both shocked and furious. He could already imagine the ridicule he would face once these photos and stories circulated online.

Recently, everyone in the Northwest knew that the Zhao and Deng families were at each other’s throats.

For the Zhao family’s young master to be digging at the Deng family’s construction site on the groundbreaking day—what a joke.

The reporters were on the move quickly, working with professional efficiency. They took their money and left without any fuss.

“Young Master Zhao, you’re free to go now. Drive safely on your way back. Wouldn’t want you to get into an accident and die along the way.”

Deng Tianwen let go of Zhao Chen, smiling as if they were old friends.

    “You… you just wait!”

Zhao Chen was fuming with anger, squeezing out a threat between clenched teeth as he turned around, his face as dark as coal.

“Deng Tianwen, don’t get too smug. Right now, our Zhao family holds the upper hand. You’d better get ready for your Deng family to disappear from the Northwest!”

Zhao Fei threw out a harsh parting remark before angrily storming off with Zhao Chen and getting into the car.

As Zhao Fei stepped into the car, he turned his back to the others and gave a thumbs up.

“That was satisfying. Just thinking about Zhao Chen’s face earlier—it was like he was mourning his dead father. It cracks me up.”

Watching the Zhao family’s cars drive away, Deng Tianwen turned to Xu Shaochen, smiling.

“Let’s go find the farsighted chairman Pan Quan. If it weren’t for Zhao Fei, you’d probably have been the one spitting blood today.”

Xu Shaochen patted Deng Tianwen’s shoulder.

“Damn it! That old bastard dared to play this game with me. And to think I even gave him gifts and called him Uncle Pan during the holidays. Screw him!”

Deng Tianwen’s smile gradually faded, replaced by an ominous expression. Clearly, his anger was reaching its peak.

He’d long wanted to have a chat about life with Pan Quan—the sneaky traitor who had stabbed him in the back.

He just hadn’t acted yet, for fear of tipping him off.

    Meanwhile, inside the car.

“Big brother, there’s no need to be so angry. This is just a temporary setback. No need to dwell on it.”

Zhao Fei tried to comfort his big brother.

Zhao Chen remained silent, his face dark and gloomy. He was clearly outraged, with a fire burning in his chest.

“Big bro, would you like to blow off some steam?”

    Zhao Fei cautiously suggested.

Zhao Chen hesitated for a moment: “You arrange it. None of those random girls, though.”

Ever since he got married, he hadn’t messed around with other women. But today, the fire inside him was just too much to bear.

“Don’t worry, big brother. I know a teacher, just married three months ago. Her figure, her looks—she might not be as beautiful as sister-in-law, but she’s close.”

Zhao Fei continued as he scrolled through his phone, finally pulling up a photo and showing it to Zhao Chen.

Zhao Chen glanced at the photo, saying nothing. His silence indicated his satisfaction.

A flicker of triumph flashed in Zhao Fei’s eyes.
