Chapter 992: Hoping for Future Benefits
by xennovelXu Shaochen certainly wasn’t trying to sleep with Zhao Yu.
So he was hoping for some future profit.
Because he found a familiar feeling in Zhao Yu and considering Zhao Yu’s identity, Xu Shaochen decided to lower himself to make friends.
“Of course, Mr. Xu. I’m still on leave until tomorrow. I’ll treat you to dinner tonight.”
Upon hearing this, Zhao Yu took the initiative to invite Xu Shaochen.
“Alright. You treat me tonight, and next time, I’ll treat you. Just choose the place and send me the address.”
Xu Shaochen didn’t decline. After all, he had to give the young ones a chance to show off.
They exchanged a few more pleasantries before hanging up.
“Is it that soldier from yesterday?”
Yuxiu asked. She recognized Zhao Yu’s voice.
“What does that have to do with you? Your job is to listen well and serve me properly. Don’t worry yourself with things that don’t concern you.”
Xu Shaochen pinched her cheek and smiled.
But Yuxiu couldn’t bring herself to smile.
“Don’t take me home yet. Take me to Deng Corporation first, then send Miss Yu back.”
As the car reached an intersection, Xu Shaochen gave the order.
He had to leave tomorrow, so of course, he needed to bid farewell to Deng Tianwen and take a quick tour of the Deng Family’s company.
He had come to Liao City but hadn’t visited yet.
“Yes, boss.”
Long Er, who was driving, responded.
Ten minutes later, the car stopped in front of Deng Corporation.
Xu Shaochen got out of the car, and it slowly drove away.
Xu Shaochen shook his jacket and walked toward the Deng Corporation building.
“Excuse me, sir. May I ask what business you have here?”
As soon as he approached, a security guard stopped him.
However, the guard was polite, treating Xu Shaochen with respect. There was no clichéd snobbery.
After all, if you’re working security, where would you get the nerve to look down on anyone?
It’s different for company executives, though.
“Wait a moment.”
Xu Shaochen smiled slightly and pulled out his phone to call Deng Tianwen: “Are you at the office? I’m downstairs at your building. Hurry down to greet your dad.”
The two security guards exchanged puzzled glances, having never imagined in their wildest dreams that he was calling their boss.
“How long have you guys been doing security?”
After hanging up the phone, Xu Shaochen struck up a conversation with the guards.
After all, standing around waiting was boring and a bit awkward.
“Sir, I’ve been here for two years. The other guy’s been here for one. You’re here for an interview? College graduate? Recommended by someone at the company?”
One of the slightly older guards gave Xu Shaochen a glance and tentatively guessed.
After all, Xu Shaochen looked young and was dressed in a suit, which made him seem like an interviewee.
Plus, from the conversation earlier, it sounded like something only people of the same age would say.
So the guard guessed that Xu Shaochen was here for an interview and had called a friend inside the company.
“No, I have a friend who works here. I’m just here for a visit.”
Xu Shaochen explained.
“Makes sense. It’s good to check things out before making a decision. Finding a stable job is important.”
The guard nodded approvingly, still thinking Xu Shaochen was here for an interview.
Xu Shaochen didn’t bother to explain further.
Soon, Deng Tianwen hurried out of the building.
“Hello, Director Deng.”
The two security guards straightened up and respectfully greeted Deng Tianwen.
Deng Tianwen gave them a casual nod and walked up to Xu Shaochen: “Why are you at my company? I was in a meeting, but I canceled it just to come see you. Am I giving you enough face?”
The two security guards were dumbfounded, staring in disbelief. They never expected that the call earlier had been to their boss.
And judging by how they interacted, the two seemed to have a special relationship.
Recalling Xu Shaochen’s words earlier: ‘I have a friend who works here.’
Big brother, you really know how to show off!
Was this ‘friend’ just someone working here? Well, technically, yeah—being the boss does count as working here.
“I’m heading back to Jiangzhou tomorrow. Just came by to say goodbye and maybe check out your company. Let’s go. You be my tour guide.”
Xu Shaochen said as he walked toward the building.
“Damn, you’re just playing for two days like you said? Stay a few more days. After I finish these meetings, I’ll show you around properly.”
Deng Tianwen quickly followed, trying to persuade Xu Shaochen to stay longer. They both entered the building together.
“Do you really think you’re the only one with important things to do? The rest of the world must be free, huh?”
The two security guards stood there, watching them disappear from sight.
“I think… we might’ve just met a big shot.”
The younger guard looked at his partner and said in a daze.
The older guard nodded: “And not just your average big shot either.”
Someone who’s on good terms with the company boss can’t be just anybody, right?
Both guards felt a bit regretful. If only they had seized the opportunity earlier, maybe they could’ve used it as a shortcut to a promotion.
The two sighed simultaneously. What a shame.
But they were definitely overthinking it.
There’s no way Xu Shaochen would meddle in Deng Tianwen’s company staffing.
Inside the company.
“This is the operations department. Nothing much to see. This building’s been here for decades…”
While giving Xu Shaochen a tour, Deng Tianwen couldn’t help but complain about the company.
“Hello, Director Deng.”
“Good day, Chairman.”
Employees paused to greet them as they passed, though most of their attention was focused on Xu Shaochen.
Soon, Deng Tianwen led Xu Shaochen on a tour of the entire company and into his office.
“Bring in two cups of tea.”
Deng Tianwen told his secretary to bring some tea.
The secretary quickly complied. After all, that’s what secretaries are for, right? If there’s work, the secretary does it. If not… well, you can figure out the rest.
A few minutes later, the petite secretary came in with two cups of tea.
Important detail—she had a great figure.
“So, you’re really leaving tomorrow? Not even planning to attend Zhao Lianghe’s funeral?”
Deng Tianwen asked, looking at Xu Shaochen.
“I’ve told you a hundred times. I’m leaving tomorrow, and not even Jesus could stop me.”
Xu Shaochen rolled his eyes, exasperated. Why was this guy acting so nagging, like a woman?
“Okay then, let’s have dinner tonight to send you off.” Deng Tianwen thought for a moment and then suggested.
“Get lost! If you don’t know how to talk, just shut up. ‘Send me off’ my ass.” Xu Shaochen snapped, annoyed. “I don’t have time tonight, but lunch is fine.”
“Alright, I’ll host a farewell lunch then. Wishing you a safe journey.” Deng Tianwen nodded.
Xu Shaochen twitched his lips.
I’m taking a plane. If my journey truly goes smoothly, that’d be bad news.
