Chapter Index

“Chairman Chen, have you already forgotten me?”

Suddenly, a somewhat familiar voice rang in his ears.

Chen Tong looked up and his face changed instantly: “It’s you! It’s Chairman Deng!”

He recognized him immediately. This person was none other than Deng Tianwen’s bodyguard.

“Chairman Chen, aren’t you getting on in years? How come you still don’t know the rules? Fighting for pride is something only young people do. I didn’t expect you to stoop to this. You’re just causing trouble for us people who do the hard work.”

The strong man looked down at Chairman Chen, his face emotionless, his tone calm and unwavering.

    “You… What do you mean?”

Chen Tong realized his actions had been discovered, but he thought he might still have a chance to struggle.

“What do I mean? Chairman Deng asked me to teach you what should and should not be said. It would be best not to run your mouth.”

The strong man pressed one foot down on Chen Tong’s leg, gradually increasing the pressure.

“Ah!” Chen Tong let out a horrible scream, clutching the strong man’s foot with both hands, his eyes bloodshot: “I want to see Chairman Deng! I have something to tell him!”

“Chairman Deng doesn’t want to see you.”

The strong man said coldly and kicked Chen Tong’s hand away, then stomped hard on his palm.

    “Ahhh!”

Chen Tong screamed hysterically, his hand ground into the rough ground, leaving it bloody and mangled.

“I hope you learn your lesson. Chairman Deng hates people who talk too much. If he gets into trouble, it’s my job to solve it.”

The strong man coldly tossed out these words before turning and leaving with his men without looking back.

Chen Tong lay on the ground, clutching his hand and wailing continuously. Any alcohol high he had was long gone, and he was more sober than ever.

“Hey buddy, want me to call the cops for you?”

After seeing the strong man and his crew drive off, a young man who had been watching from the shadows came forward.

“No! No need to call the police. Just dial 120 for me.”

Chen Tong quickly refused. If the police were involved, it’d mean he no longer cared about staying alive.

He was extremely relieved that his article had been deleted quickly.

Otherwise, this lesson wouldn’t have been so simple—he might’ve lost his hand.

    “Alright then.”

The young man saw Chen Tong’s obvious fear and, not wanting to get into more trouble, decided not to mention calling the police again.

    ……………

    After the luncheon.

Deng Tianwen personally escorted Xu Shaochen back to his villa, then returned to the company.

    “Did you eat lunch yet?”

Entering the living room, Xu Shaochen looked at Yuxiu watching TV on the sofa and asked.

He casually sat down beside her, wrapping his arm around her slim waist.

Smelling the alcohol on Xu Shaochen, Yuxiu frowned slightly but didn’t dare to push him away.

    “Not yet.”

Yuxiu shook her head. She had been waiting to eat with Xu Shaochen, but didn’t expect Deng Tianwen to invite him to lunch.

    “Let’s go.”

Xu Shaochen pulled her to her feet.

“Again? It’s the middle of the day, and I’m kind of hungry. How about later tonight?”

Yuxiu blushed, looking somewhat pitiful. It’s said only the ox dies from overwork, not the field.

At this rate, she might become the first ‘field’ to be overworked.

“What are you thinking? I’m taking you to eat.”

    Xu Shaochen said, exasperated.

    “I…”

Yuxiu felt utterly embarrassed. Well, given how things had been lately, it wasn’t unreasonable for her mind to go there. She thought Xu Shaochen was about to ‘drive the car’ again.

Xu Shaochen was indeed an old ‘driver’.

Xu Shaochen took Yuxiu to a nearby restaurant.

“Order whatever you want. I’ve already eaten, so don’t worry about me.”

Xu Shaochen casually tossed the menu to Yuxiu, while one hand playfully slid along her leg, as if she were a toy in his hands.

With Yuxiu and the Secretary, he had free rein with no worries, and it was something he thoroughly enjoyed.

Yuxiu had a small appetite. She ordered two dishes and a bowl of rice.

Watching a beauty eat was also a form of enjoyment. Yuxiu ate with elegance, chewing slowly and delicately.

“Don’t… Don’t stare at me like that. I can’t eat when you’re watching me.”

Yuxiu said awkwardly. Being stared at by Xu Shaochen even made eating feel uncomfortable.

Xu Shaochen smiled and shifted his gaze.

    “Yuxiu?”

Just then, a voice filled with surprise and uncertainty echoed.

A woman walked over, sizing up Yuxiu and Xu Shaochen in disbelief.

    “Yuxiu, you… What is this?”

The woman looked confused, especially since Xu Shaochen’s hand was still on Yuxiu’s leg, their relationship obviously not ordinary.

The key issue was that the woman knew Yuxiu was married to none other than Zhao Chen, the eldest son of the Zhao Family.

With them acting like this, weren’t they afraid Zhao Chen would sink them into the ocean?

Most people still weren’t aware of the shifts within the Zhao Family.

    “Xiao Die.”

Yuxiu felt uneasy running into someone familiar, like she had been caught in an affair.

“Aren’t you going to introduce me?”

Xu Shaochen said with a smile.

    “My classmate, Xiao Die.”

Yuxiu awkwardly explained, tucking her hair behind her ear to hide her embarrassment.

    “Yuxiu, who is he…?”

Xiao Die eyed Xu Shaochen closely, noting his handsome looks, but he didn’t seem all that different from Zhao Chen.

Why would Yuxiu cheat with him?

    “He’s my…”

Yuxiu hesitated for a long time, unsure how to introduce Xu Shaochen. She didn’t know what to call him.

    “I’m her boyfriend.”

Xu Shaochen took the initiative to introduce himself.

Xiao Die was dumbfounded: “B-but… she’s… She’s married.”

    “I know.” Xu Shaochen nodded.

Xiao Die added: “Her husband is Zhao Chen, the eldest son of the Zhao Family.”

“I know that too.” Xu Shaochen nodded again, calm and unruffled.

Xiao Die was utterly stunned by this response.

She always thought the saying ‘Better to die under the peony–there’s a certain elegance in death’ was nonsense.

But today she saw it with her own eyes. There really were people so bold and reckless.

Suddenly, her mind began to calculate, her eyes darting left and right.

Yuxiu was cheating. What if she were to tell Zhao Chen about this?

    Women could be incredibly jealous.

Back in school, she was jealous of Yuxiu for having a better family than her.

Then, Yuxiu went on to marry Zhao Chen, a top-tier rich and handsome man, making Xiao Die even more envious and resentful.

She didn’t need to live better than Yuxiu.

But if she could see Yu Living worse, it would bring her delight.

A perfect example of someone who harms others without benefiting herself.

And who knows? She might even use this to cozy up to Zhao Chen.

Having thought it all over, Xiao Die made her decision.

“Yuxiu, how could you do something like this? How could you betray Zhao Chen’s love! I’m so disappointed in you!”

Xiao Die scolded, her face full of disappointment, looking like she was angry at Yuxiu for not living up to expectations.

    “I… I didn’t mean to.”

Yuxiu instinctively felt guilty, weakly trying to defend herself.
