Chapter Index

After figuring out the key point.

Xiao Die instantly turned pale, with cold sweat dripping down.

Even Zhao Chen knew he had been cheated on, but he could only remain indifferent.

Just now, how could I have dared to point at his nose and curse him? Isn’t that the same as asking for death? He was both terrified and envious of Yuxiu.

She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, a beautiful lady admired wherever she went.

Later, she married Zhao Chen, the top rich and handsome man in the Northwest.

Now, even if she cheated, it’s with someone even more powerful than Zhao Chen.

Why does she always get all the good things?

Yuxiu didn’t know what Xiao Die was thinking, otherwise, she would definitely be on the verge of tears.

She got all the good things?

Yes, she was born with a silver spoon, but her family valued sons over daughters, so her status wasn’t high.

Sure, she married the top rich and handsome Zhao Chen.

But was that really what she wanted? She never had any other choice.

Sure, she cheated on Zhao Chen with Xu Shaochen.

But that wasn’t her intention either; Zhao Fei drugged her and created the opportunity for Xu Shaochen.

Now she’s nothing more than a toy, a bird in a cage—who knows her current situation?

So it’s important to never only look at someone’s glamorous side.

Some people might seem glamorous on the outside, but what you don’t see is they’re… even more glamorous behind the scenes ().

Just kidding—don’t be fooled by appearances. Even glamorous people have their hardships.

“Yuxiu, Yuxiu, it’s all a misunderstanding. I… I was just concerned about your reputation. I care about you too much—that’s why I lost control.”

Xiao Die, realizing her mistake, quickly forced a smile and apologized, pleading for Yuxiu’s forgiveness.

She didn’t beg Xu Shaochen because she didn’t know him at all.

The possibility of being forgiven by Yuxiu seemed higher.

“Xiao Die, just because I don’t want to fuss over things doesn’t mean I’m stupid. Do you understand?”

Yuxiu looked at Xiao Die and spoke calmly.

She wasn’t stupid. Did Xiao Die think she couldn’t see through her real intentions?

Xiao Die’s face turned from green to white, feeling extremely embarrassed, shifting awkwardly in place.

“Yuxiu, it’s my fault… I was being petty. Please, let it go for the sake of our time as classmates. Don’t hold it against me, I beg you.”

After being exposed, Xiao Die desperately pleaded with Yuxiu, trying to play on past emotions.

Yuxiu ignored her—not because she didn’t want to forgive her, but because her words had no weight.

After all, since when could a pet speak for its owner?

“This… Young Master, it’s all my fault. Please, have mercy and let me go. I won’t dare again, I swear!”

After failing with Yuxiu, Xiao Die cursed her in her heart for being heartless and turned to beg Xu Shaochen instead.

“You want me to forgive you? Fine.”

Xu Shaochen smiled faintly and said to the server, “Bring me a bottle of Wuliangye.”

“Right away, sir. Please wait a moment.”

Soon, the server brought over a bottle of Wuliangye.

    “Open the bottle.”

Following the instruction, the server opened the bottle.

“Drink it. Drink it all, and I’ll forgive you.”

Xu Shaochen looked at Xiao Die and said calmly. He was this petty; he couldn’t just forgive and forget with a smile.

Earlier, she treated him like a fool. Did she really think a few soft words would get her off the hook? Unlikely.

    “Th-this…”

Staring at the bottle of Wuliangye, Xiao Die’s face turned even paler. It was completely drained of blood.

She glanced at Yuxiu, pleading with her eyes.

Drinking this wouldn’t kill her, but it would surely land her in the hospital for a few days.

Yuxiu lowered her head, sipping her food, pretending not to see the pleading look.

“Drink. Don’t make me say it a third time. I hate repeating myself.”

    Xu Shaochen said indifferently.

Xiao Die knew there was no way out of drinking the bottle. Trembling, she picked up the bottle and began to drink.

    “Cough cough cough…”

She drank quickly, hoping to spill some on the ground to drink less.

But she rushed too much and was choking hard, coughing and tearing up.

Other diners in the restaurant couldn’t help but feel sympathy, thinking Xu Shaochen was being too harsh on her.

    “I… I finished it.”

Soon, the bottle was empty. Xiao Die stammered as she looked at Xu Shaochen.

    “Leave.”

Xu Shaochen spat out a single word.

As soon as Xiao Die stepped forward, she collapsed onto the floor before wobbling and getting up again.

    “Call her an ambulance.”

Xu Shaochen said to Yuxiu, his tone as indifferent as ever. He only wanted to teach her a lesson, not cause any real harm.

Yuxiu looked at Xu Shaochen with shock, as though seeing a different person.

“What? Do you think I’m a demon bent on driving her to death?”

Xu Shaochen said, glancing at Yuxiu.

Yuxiu awkwardly shook her head, “No, no, I didn’t mean it like that.”

She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed for the ambulance.

“Hurry up and eat. At your pace it’ll be nightfall before you’re done.”

Xu Shaochen looked at Yuxiu impatiently. Her slow, deliberate eating might look elegant, but it wasted too much time.

Yuxiu secretly pouted and quickened her pace, but it still made her uncomfortable.

After all, she had always eaten this way and had developed the habit over the years.

    ………………

    Later that night.

Xu Shaochen ran into Zhao Yu again at a BBQ joint.

“Mr. Xu, please take a seat. I hope you’re okay with eating at a place like this.”

Seeing Xu Shaochen, Zhao Yu quickly got up to greet him, wearing an apologetic smile.

“Why wouldn’t I be? I come to places like this all the time. The food here is great, and the atmosphere too.”

Xu Shaochen laughed heartily, sitting down across from Zhao Yu. He shouted to the owner, “Bring me 30 lamb skewers!”

Sure enough, Zhao Yu, seeing Xu Shaochen’s easygoing nature, relaxed a lot and said in disbelief, “Mr. Xu actually comes to places like this?”

“You obviously don’t know much about me. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon either; I grew up in a poor family too.”

Xu Shaochen laughed and shook his head, his demeanor rough yet natural, which helped Zhao Yu let down his guard, opening up the conversation.

Soon, the skewers and a round of beers were served.

As they ate and drank, Xu Shaochen casually shared many of his adventures and stories.

Then, as if by accident, Xu Shaochen asked, “Hey, your reflexes were pretty fast that day. Faster than your ordinary person. You could probably break a Guinness World Record.”
