Chapter 352: Ruthless Intentions
by xennovelChapter 352: What Does It Mean to be Ruthless?
He pulled a spray can from his pocket as Xiao Yu crouched down.
He quickly sprayed several bursts onto the severed wrists of a man and a woman.
The bleeding soon subsided.
Perfect stuff!
Inspecting the can in his hand, Xiao Yu decided he’d get a few extra bottles from Wang Dong and the others for backup.
As for the pair, it was evident they had targeted him and the Yu God Sword.
Otherwise, why attack without cause?
Do they not realize that their actions equate to treason?
Xiao Yu stood up and lifted his leg.
Crack! Crack!
The sound of breaking bones filled the air.
The man and woman, on the verge of unconsciousness, awoke in agony.
Before they could scream, someone struck them on the head, sending them into oblivion.
Their limbs were shattered to prevent escape.
When it came to traitors, Xiao Yu never showed mercy.
Their fate: either life in prison or execution.
He deliberately left them alive, in case they might reveal something useful.
National Security’s people should be here soon to handle it, so he didn’t need to worry.
Within ten paces, Xiao Yu dashed down the stairs…
……
Outside the Shopping Mall.
Xiao Yu, gripping the Yu God Sword, stood in the parking lot.
Five minutes had passed, yet his phone remained silent.
A bad feeling gnawed at him.
Something must have happened to Wu Hanran.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
“Where are you?” Xiao Yu asked coldly.
“You take the car and go first,” came the reply.
Wu Hanran’s voice sounded weak. “Leave the city, get on Highway XX!”
Then the call abruptly ended.
Wounded… Xiao Yu frowned, detecting something amiss in the tone.
Without hesitation, he jumped into his car, started the engine, and sped toward a highway exit…
Barely had he driven a few steps when Zhou Lie and Shen Mei appeared.
“This guy’s really ruthless!”
Shen Mei smirked as she glanced at the mutilated pair.
“Is that what you call ruthless?”
Zhou Lie shook his head. “I’ve seen something like this firsthand…”
He trailed off, unable to continue.
He recalled an incident during a mercenary incursion.
It involved a cargo ship—a cabin from which Xiao Yu had emerged—with a criminal inside.
He remembered Wang Dong telling him that the criminal had murdered two policemen, causing Xiao Yu to go berserk.
Originally, he had wanted to see the criminal’s fate up close.
But Wang Dong warned him not to, or he wouldn’t be able to eat dinner that night.
That only piqued Zhou Lie’s curiosity further.
After the case ended, he couldn’t resist sneaking a peek at the criminal.
The criminal had survived, but Zhou Lie ended up feeling sick.
It was as brutal as the punishment method Xiao Yu had used when Wang Dong first met him…
Having slain countless foes and witnessed innumerable acts of cruelty, Zhou Lie had to admit
that when it came to sheer ruthlessness, he wasn’t even fit to carry Xiao Yu’s shoes.
Breaking limbs—how is that even ruthless?
Could you cut it out already!
……
On the highway.
A police car was speeding by.
Xiao Yu continued driving, eyes fixed on his phone, until it rang again.
“There’s a highway service station just a few minutes ahead,” Wu Hanran said before hanging up.
After delivering his message, the call ended.
Damn… Xiao Yu wanted to curse under his breath.
Being led around like a puppet left him feeling utterly frustrated.
Yet… a faint smile tugged at his lips.
All along, he had noticed a car tailing him.
He recognized the driver, though it wasn’t Wu Hanran.
It was clear that this car had been trailing him, monitoring his every move.
Surely, it belonged to Wu Hanran’s men!
A police car pulled into the service station, and Xiao Yu, still holding the Yu God Sword, got out.
Two minutes later, a black sedan arrived at the station.
Xiao Yu’s eyes remained fixed on the black car.
The car door opened, and a police officer stepped out…?
Hmm?
Xiao Yu’s expression froze, his face hardening.
The officer, appearing to be around forty and a second-level inspector, exuded a firm authority.
His police bearing was unmistakable.
There was no mistaking him for an imposter.
But the worst was yet to come, as Xiao Yu’s gaze grew icier.
He stared coldly as the officer advanced.
Suddenly, the officer drew his gun and pointed it at Xiao Yu.
“Don’t move!” he bellowed.
He shouted, “Drop your weapon and cover your head with both hands!”
“Why?”
In a voice as cold as ice, Xiao Yu demanded, “Why are you working for Wu Hanran?”
“……”
The officer’s face instantly shifted, but he quickly regained his composure. “Just follow my instructions…”
In one swift step covering three or four meters, Xiao Yu stood right before the officer.
Ignoring that the gun’s safety was still on, he fixed his gaze squarely into the officer’s eyes.
Xiao Yu said, “Answer my question,” in a chilling tone.
The officer’s face paled noticeably.
Yet, his finger never moved off the gun’s safety.
That was precisely why he was still breathing.
Xiao Yu was giving him a chance to explain.
“I owe my life to Brother Wu,” the officer confessed.
Lowering the gun and extending his hand, his expression turned conflicted. “Give it to me. Wu’s all he has—a life!”
With his icy glare softening slightly, Xiao Yu shook his head. “No. Let Wu Hanran come get it himself.”
“He can’t come out; if he does, you’ll capture him,” the officer argued.
The officer shook his head. “Then his daughter is doomed!”
“Then you must tell me exactly where he is.”
Xiao Yu stared unblinkingly. “Is he really on his own? Can he rescue his daughter?”
“But…”
The officer hesitated, about to reply.
Suddenly, his expression shifted in astonishment as he glanced behind Xiao Yu.
Had he tricked Xiao Yu into turning around?
No.
Xiao Yu sensed someone sneaking up from behind.
A hand smashed into the back of his head.
Not with lethal force—merely an attempt to knock him out?
He spun around, raised his hand, and grabbed at the assailant.
Whack!
He clutched the intruding hand firmly, saying, “So you still came out!”
A thigh responded.
Xiao Yu clearly saw a bloodstained… bullet hole on that thigh?!
Whack… His arm locked onto the thigh, unmoving, as he glared coldly at the middle-aged man before him.
Wu Hanran!
It was a plain, slightly dull face with scruffy stubble.
Yet the muscles on his face trembled continuously.
Expressions of guilt and anger alternated rapidly.
Watching that face, Xiao Yu couldn’t decipher what was going through his own mind.
But Wu Hanran made no further move…
“Why aren’t you attacking?”
Xiao Yu glared at his bloodshot eyes and thundered, “Aren’t you supposed to be formidable? Quick on your feet? Lately, you’ve had National Security running around in circles and attacking me—keep coming at me!”
Wu Hanran lowered his head, unable to meet Xiao Yu’s gaze.
“I have just one final question for you,”
Xiao Yu said coldly, “Do you still remember the oath you swore under the national flag?”
Thud…
All of Wu Hanran’s strength seemed to vanish under Xiao Yu’s words.
He collapsed onto the ground!
