Chapter 399: Mysteries at the Muay Thai Gym
by xennovelChapter 399: The Muay Thai Gym (Third Update)
The apartment door was forced open as Xiao Yu and Wang Dong stepped inside.
The room was small—a combined living area and bedroom with its own bathroom.
The place was a mess; a TV, a computer, socks, and clothes lay scattered on the floor—but no one was there.
Wangdie’s Nose picked up a scent, warning Xiao Yu.
It indicated that suspect Che Yu had been here two days ago.
There was also a trace of a woman’s scent…
Investigations revealed that Che Yu had always been single.
Who could this woman be… Xiao Yu frowned.
Team Two began tracking the suspect’s whereabouts.
He wasn’t at school, wasn’t at home, and now he wasn’t even in the apartment.
ID card records showed that Che Yu had not left City J.
Finally, they traced him to a certain Muay Thai gym…
Upon entering the gym, Xiao Yu was struck by the intense, burning atmosphere.
The front desk featured an enrollment area and a consultation zone, among others.
He also noticed a very attractive young woman in training attire—a real delight to the eyes.
Shouts, mingled with heavy grunts and roars, echoed throughout the gym.
At the center of the gym stood a massive fighting ring where two fighters were battling.
“Gentlemen, may I help you?” a voice called out.
The young woman in training gear smiled as she approached Xiao Yu and Wang Dong.
“Oh, nothing. Just taking a look around,” she replied.
Wang Dong chuckled as he added, “I was thinking of signing up to learn some fighting. By the way, Miss, you’re gorgeous. What’s your surname?”
He kept his identity under wraps given the noisy crowd.
He was worried that if the suspect were here, he might slip away.
“Haha, you sure know how to talk,”
the young woman replied with a playful laugh, covering her mouth. “I’m Li Wanji!”
Although Wang Dong was middle-aged, he still had undeniable charm.
Standing 1.8 meters tall, the handsome, mature man had a notable appeal among women.
The name Li Wanji… Xiao Yu’s expression shifted as he glanced at her.
He remembered a street interview from his past life, where a reporter questioned an elderly farmer.
Reporter: ‘Sir, do you think modern celebrities are attractive?’
Farmer: ‘Not really.’
Reporter: ‘Then what kind of woman do you find most beautiful?’
Farmer: ‘Li Wanji.’
Reporter: ‘Huh? Why?’
Farmer: ‘I’ve heard that emperors always admired Li Wanji. She must be the most beautiful.’
Reporter: ‘…’
“What’s wrong?”
Wang Dong, noticing a puzzled look on his junior’s face, asked.
“Nothing,” came the reply.
Xiao Yu shifted his gaze away from the young woman.
He thought, ‘I must be too naive!’
The woman then led the two on a tour of the gym.
Xiao Yu scanned the room, taking in the faces around him before looking away.
Nothing?
Sniffing the air, Xiao Yu activated his Wangdie’s Nose and wrinkled his nostrils.
Huh?
There was a smell identical to the one in Che Yu’s apartment.
The unmistakable scent of a woman!
Following the trail of the scent, Xiao Yu’s eyes landed on a room inside the gym.
An office?
Suddenly,
a figure stepped into his line of sight.
In a gruff tone the man barked, “Wanji, who is this pretty boy?”
His crude language made Xiao Yu think, ‘Has no one knocked your teeth out?’ as he glared at the intruder.
The man was a hulking figure, over 1.9 meters tall, broad-shouldered, his face twisted in a sneering smirk.
“Daniu, what are you saying? Our guest is here for a tour,” he retorted.
The young woman shot the burly man a glare. “He might even enroll,” she said.
“Fine skin, but what could he possibly learn?”
The muscular brute grinned and eyed Xiao Yu, “Being a pretty boy sure has its perks, huh?”
Wang Dong laughed quietly, standing aside to enjoy the spectacle.
His eyes, looking at the burly man, held a hint of pity.
“Were you tossed into the air three times when you were born?”
Xiao Yu calmly retorted, “But you only managed to catch me twice, right?”
At those words, everyone fell silent.
What did he mean by that?
Wang Dong burst into hearty laughter.
The young woman joined in, laughing as well.
(chdj) Only the burly man failed to catch on.
But soon enough…
“Damn it, how dare you insult me?”
Realizing the jab, the burly man roared furiously and swung his arm to punch Xiao Yu in the face.
What a ridiculous scene—messing up an investigation with such theatrics. Xiao Yu calmly extended his hand.
Smack!
His hand, improbably large, caught the massive fist.
At that moment,
Xiao Yu soared into the air.
Like an acrobat, he pressed one hand against the brute’s swinging fist.
Then, with a swift move, he swung his leg.
Thud!
A powerful kick connected squarely with the man’s face.
Releasing his grip, Xiao Yu landed lightly on the floor.
The burly man staggered.
With a thunderous crash,
he collapsed like a small boulder.
The once noisy gym fell silent.
Countless eyes widened in shock.
Faces were etched with horror.
Ignoring the stares, Xiao Yu strode toward an office not far away.
“Everyone, stay where you are and don’t move!”
Wang Dong’s face turned icy as he scanned the entire gym.
A group of Team Two officers in black uniforms
descended into the gym like a surge of dark steel.
It was a scene few ordinary people ever witnessed.
Fear was blatantly visible in many eyes.
No one dared even move…
Click!
Xiao Yu twisted the doorknob and pushed the door open.
Sure enough, an office lay inside.
A woman sat behind a boss’s chair at the desk.
She looked up at Xiao Yu, surprised.
Attractive and in her thirties, she exuded a mature elegance.
Xiao Yu wrinkled his nose again.
That’s it—it’s her!
“Who are you?” she asked, frowning.
Her eyes lingered on Xiao Yu’s handsome face, clearly impressed.
“Police.”
With an unflinching expression, Xiao Yu said, “Do you know Che Yu?”
“Che Yu?”
The woman’s expression shifted. “I… don’t know him!”
“Take her away!”
Xiao Yu turned and left the office.
Two Team Two officers entered and headed straight for the woman.
City J, City Bureau, Interrogation Room.
“Zhou Xin, 31, a native of City J, owner of the XX Muay Thai Gym…”
Xiao Yu read through her file. Looking up at the pale-faced woman chained to the interrogation chair, he declared, “You do know that lying to a police officer comes with consequences? Oh, wait, I’m not a police officer anymore—I’m a National Security Agent.”
The woman’s complexion shifted from pale to deathly white…
