Chapter Index

“So, can you two vouch for me?”

Karl still wanted to rope these two giants, Dorry and Brogy, onto his ship. They weren’t just top warriors of the Giant Tribe—they were also the twin captains of the Giant Pirates. With them on board, maybe there was a real shot at rebuilding the Giant Pirates.

What Karl needed most right now was a chance to bring the Giant Tribe under his banner.

If the Giant Pirates were restored, his chances of success would skyrocket.

“The two of us still have a duel to finish here.”

“If you need an introducer, just find any giant. That’ll do.”

“There’s no clear rule about what kind of background a guarantor needs to have,” Dorry explained.

Right now, he and Brogy still hadn’t settled their duel, so leaving wasn’t on their minds.

They’d been fighting over who would win for decades. No way would one conversation from Karl shake their resolve.

    “You know what?”

“Know what?” Of course—even giants couldn’t resist a little gossip.

Karl tossed out half a teaser and instantly had both of them staring at him.

He didn’t hesitate and kept going. “The Giant Pirates are gone. They don’t exist anymore.”

“Even the old crew, the ones who went looking for you both, got tricked by the Navy and now they’re guarding Enies Lobby.”

    “What?!”

“The Giant Pirates… dissolved?” Brogy suddenly leapt up, face twisted with anger.

Dorry didn’t look much better—even though he stayed seated, the anger trembling on his face was obvious. This news had hit them hard.

Decades ago, they started dueling on this islet over a little girl’s words, but they’d never imagined their mighty Giant Pirates would be taken apart like this.

The original purpose of the Giant Pirates was simple: bring better lives to their people back home.

Giants were huge, which meant huge expenses—on clothes, on belongings. Except for the royal family and titled nobles, over eighty percent of Giants lived in poverty.

Their appetites were so massive, just getting enough food to eat every day ate up most of their time, leaving no room for anything else.

The Giant Pirates, for their part, gave the Giant Tribe a way to reach beyond Elbaf.

Thanks to the Pirate Crew, they gathered tons of supplies. Starting from the far edges of the island, most giants finally got to wear new clothes and enjoy good stuff.

But now, with the Giant Pirates gone and their trade route closed, did that make them the villains of the tribe?

Watching the two of them slump in place, Karl couldn’t help but wonder if he’d pushed it too far.

“So—who are the two guarding Enies Lobby now?” Brogy was the first to recover, turning to ask Karl.

    “Oimo and Kashi.”

Karl gave up the names without a second thought.

“Those two, huh.” Dorry remembered them clearly—he’d personally brought both Oimo and Kashi from Elbaf as his own men.

“So, why’d they get tricked by the Navy?” Dorry was curious.

“They always struck me as sharp. How’d the Navy manage to fool them that easily?”

“The Navy told them you two had been captured and thrown into Impel Down. They promised if Oimo and Kashi guarded Enies Lobby for a hundred years, they’d set the two of you free.”

“Those two have guarded that place for over ten years now, never once complaining.”

Dorry couldn’t hold back his tears. Choking with emotion, he said, “So it was all because of us.”

    “Ever think about this?”

“Maybe your duel here is part of a Navy scheme.” Karl looked at the two giants, tossing out a bold idea.

    “What did you say?”

“Why would you say that?” Brogy asked, surprise all over his face.

Neither had ever considered this possibility. The two exchanged glances, waiting for Karl’s answer.

Karl didn’t drag it out. “You two are incredibly strong, so how could just a child’s words sway you like that?”

“Besides, you two were the strongest in the Giant Pirates. Once you left, wasn’t its collapse inevitable?”

“Maybe that little girl had a Devil Fruit ability—maybe she manipulated both of you into dueling all these years.”

Both giants froze, thrown for a loop. They were left speechless.

That’s right—the whole reason they’d started the Giant Pirates was to give their people a better life back home.

All the gold and jewels they’d gathered overseas had been traded for supplies and sent back to Elbaf.

They started out wanting to help the tribe. So why did one stray comment from a child lead to years of pointless fighting?

Add in Oimo and Kashi getting tricked into guarding Enies Lobby too…

It all pointed to the Navy’s conspiracy.

“Can’t believe we fell for it so completely,” Brogy said glumly.

Dorry spoke up, “Come on, Brogy, what’s with that face?”

“We need to pull ourselves together and rebuild the Giant Pirates!”

“Yeah, you’re right! Time to bring the Giant Pirates back!”

Seeing the two finally snap out of it, Karl shared his own idea.

“In that case, let me ask you both to take me to the Blood Trial for the Giant Tribe.”

“Or maybe we should hit Enies Lobby first?”

“Right, right—our two men are still stuck there.”

“Yeah, we can’t let our crew keep watching the Navy’s front door!”

“Exactly, let’s go! Let’s go now!”

Black lines seemed to appear on Karl’s face. Seriously, did these giants not trust his strength at all? Why did they keep ignoring him?

“Hey! Will you two cut it out?”

“Why is it so hard to just take me to the Blood Trial?”

Hearing Karl’s helpless outburst, the two stop in their tracks.

“We just don’t want you to get hurt,” Brogy said with a goofy smile, scratching his head.

Dorry agreed, “Yeah, after the big news you just gave us, we really don’t want to see you die in there.”

They knew better than anyone how brutal the Blood Trial was.

Even some of the tribe’s greatest heroes wouldn’t dare enter the Blood Trial, let alone a regular human.

Karl had just told them something huge. They really didn’t want to see him walk to his death.

“So you guys just don’t believe I’m that strong, huh?”

“Well, if you don’t mind, how about a little sparring?”

Karl knew this was the moment to prove his strength. Power erupted from his body as he shot up to eight point eight meters tall.

He still only stood as tall as their thighs, but the wild energy from Karl was so fierce their eyes nearly popped out.

    “Whoa—how are you this strong?”

“Is this a Devil Fruit power?”

Both giants stared at Karl’s changed aura, thinking he’d used some kind of Devil Fruit ability.
