Chapter 193: Giants’ Trial: Charge on Enies Lobby
by xennovel“Just think of it that way.”
“I know you don’t trust my strength. Let’s have a little fight—see if I’ve got what it takes for the Blood Trial?” Karl bared his teeth in a wicked grin, locking eyes with the two giants.
“Well then—we won’t be holding back.” Dorry and Brogy shared a serious look, raised their weapons and braced themselves for battle.
“Perfect, I’ve been wanting to test out the Giants’ Hakoku too!”
With a surge, Karl’s right hand conjured his Halberd and he charged straight at the two giants.
“Thunder Crescent Slash!”
He launched himself into the air, body spinning a full 360 before swinging the Halberd down hard at both giants.
“Boom!”
Brogy and Dorry reacted instantly—one with an axe, the other a sword—blocking Karl’s Halberd in midair.
Karl’s grip tightened, pouring force into his right hand, and cracks began to spider across the ground beneath their feet.
Wave after wave of shockwaves fanned out all around them.
Sensing the sheer power of the clash, the animals nearby scattered in a wild panic.
“Your strength—no question about it.” Brogy and Dorry exchanged glances, biting down as if making a firm decision.
Both giants suddenly jumped back, weapons at the ready.
At a distance, their two weapons crossed behind their backs, and a strange pressure started radiating from them.
This is it.
Karl’s eyes lit up with excitement.
So this was the Hakoku Rocks wanted to experience back in the day?
And even when Dorry and Brogy were just building up their power, the pressure weighed heavy on Karl.
“Hakoku!”
Both giants shouted in unison, then swung their weapons with all their might.
A pure white beam of energy shot out in a straight line, barreling toward Karl.
Wherever the energy passed, the ground dissolved into nothingness, and even the air seemed sucked away.
“Thunderbolt Barrage!”
Standing grounded, Karl raised his Halberd high, summoning a torrent of lightning from above that poured down like a waterfall to meet the attack head-on.
Boom!!
White energy crashed with purple lightning in midair—the world itself seemed to fall silent.
A mushroom cloud rose up where they’d clashed, leaving behind a bottomless pit in the ground.
The shockwave faded quickly, and once the dust settled, Karl’s eyes went wide.
Brogy and Dorry’s weapons had been disintegrated—only the handles remained.
“Kababababa!”
“Giagiagiagiagia!”
“Hahaha!”
Their thunderous laughter echoed across the whole of Little Garden.
The next day, with things settled, Karl, Dorry and Brogy lashed together a simple wooden raft from Little Garden’s trees and headed out toward Enies Lobby.
Three days later—
“You two fought here for so long and neither of you ever won?”
Dorry and Brogy just smiled at each other, saying nothing.
After all that time fighting, of course someone must’ve been ahead at some point, but at the end one would always hold back a little, the other would relent; so it always ended in a tie.
What really kept them going for all these years was that deep, unbreakable bond between them.
Seeing their faces, Karl knew he’d guessed right.
Watching them lock gazes with such passion, Karl just sighed and rubbed his forehead. ‘This isn’t quite what I wanted.’
Just as he was about to say something, he caught sight of a faint silhouette of an island ahead out of the corner of his eye.
“Looks like we’re here.”
Karl stood up on deck, staring out at the distant island.
Dorry and Brogy gripped their new weapons, and slowly got to their feet on the raft.
After all, these weapons had been reforged for them by Karl with his Gold Element power—far sturdier than the originals ever were.
As the raft drew closer, Dorry and Brogy’s eyes immediately found Oimo and Kashi waiting at the gates of Enies Lobby.
So Karl really hadn’t lied to them.
Smoldering anger flickered across both their faces.
“Oh right—one thing, I can’t show my face here. You two take care of it, I’ll wait back on the shore.” Karl waved his hands quickly—he wasn’t in any position to appear here now.
If the Navy showed up and surrounded him, it could ruin all his plans.
“Don’t worry, Brother Karl. We’ve got this.”
Dorry patted his chest with a confident nod.
Splash!
Brogy couldn’t wait any longer. With a flip, he dove off the raft and strode northwest toward shore.
Brogy’s massive splash instantly drew the attention of the Enies Lobby guards.
“Is that—?” Kashi’s voice trembled a little.
He thought his eyes were playing tricks on him.
Oimo heard the ruckus and quickly looked over, rubbing his eyes furiously.
“Brogy, boss!” As soon as he was sure, he dashed straight at Brogy.
Kashi didn’t hesitate either.
“Not good, we’ve got Giants attacking!” The Enies Lobby officers caught sight of the approaching giants, panic flashing across their faces as they frantically called into the Transponder Snail.
Wooo wooo wooo!!
The alarm wailed across the whole island.
A wave of officers poured out—just then, Oimo and Kashi reached Brogy.
“Bang bang bang!”
Without a second’s thought, Brogy gave each a solid trio of knocks on the head.
Three massive lumps immediately rose on both their heads, making for quite the ridiculous sight.
“Hey! Who are you?” a mass of officers leveled their rifles, demanding answers from Brogy.
Brogy took the opportunity to update Oimo and Kashi on how they’d been tricked.
And hearing the officials didn’t even recognize him, both Oimo and Kashi began to burn with fury.
“You really lied to us!”
Oimo and Kashi whipped out their weapons and charged straight at the officers.
“Run for it!”
The guards here were, truth be told, just desk jockeys with fancy guns—mostly interrogators, not fighters. So when four giants charged at them they tripped over themselves, practically wishing for extra legs to carry them away.
Boom boom boom!
The Giants’ rampage was far more devastating than anyone could imagine—buildings toppled, dust filled the sky.
“Stop right there! Who are you people?”
Spandine, fresh in as CP9’s commander, never expected to have to deal with this.
“So you’re the leader?” Dorry cocked his head at Spandine.
“Are you rebelling? Don’t you know this is a World Government judicial site?”
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll put a bounty on your heads? As for you two—you’re not standing guard, so forget ever seeing your captain again!”
Spandine’s rant left Brogy, Dorry and the rest utterly stunned.
In that moment, they wondered—whose subordinate is this guy? He’s bold, but does he even know who he’s talking to?
“You know who I am, right?” Brogy asked carefully, trying not to scare him.
“How would I know!”
Spandine shot back rudely.
To him, Enies Lobby was the World Government’s courthouse—who’d dare just barge in?
Truth was, ever since Enies Lobby had been founded, nobody’d ever stormed in—other than a certain reckless Luffy.
“Dorry, is he looking down on us?”
Brogy’s mind short-circuited for a second. ‘He dares to act so cocky and doesn’t even know who we are? What song gave him such guts?’
“What, you think you can just break into Enies Lobby?” Spandine showed zero fear, completely forgetting that he was facing Giants.
“Why’s it getting dark?” As Spandine rambled, he realized the sky was shadowed—he looked up to find a massive hand overhead.
“Ah, crap…”
Brogy brought his hand down, slamming Spandine straight into the ground.
“Are all Enies Lobby people this gutsy?”
The CP9 agents watched sheepishly as their boss got flattened, forcing out awkward but polite smiles. “No, not at all, sir! Please, go right ahead.”
In the face of overwhelming power, even ‘justice’ must bend its knee.
